:p, Netgear is a n00b a t networking, Senao its the best, its the most powerful, one of my uncles have a senao with an output power of 400mw and he uses an
20dbi directional antenna, and it has a range of 4km. Also the senao pcmcias are awesome on linux ;).

But linksys is the best choice for home.

Wow it seems that the broadband its cheap there, here we have 1mb for around: £30 per month with unlimited usage and unlimited local phone calls :p. Slow! I know :(.

Hey guys om surfing on broadband right now as we speak. But i have a question the dude when he hooked up the modem said my ethernet card was bad in the back of the computer does that prevent me from using my Linksys Router?

steve520
July 7th, 2007, 20:01
Guys please help me i wanna know if this USB thing will work with the linksys im gonna get?

parkermauney
July 7th, 2007, 20:09
Bad ethernet card means you can't use the broadband directly, but if you have a wireless card on your pc then you could stream it from the router.

steve520
July 7th, 2007, 20:26
Thanks but i was wondering the dude gave me this usb thing to hook my computer to the modem and broadband works fine so i was wondering how i could like transfer to the linksys router

parkermauney
July 7th, 2007, 20:45
Plug the line into the router, and have an ethernet cable coming out of it into the pc.

steve520
July 7th, 2007, 20:57
Will it connect to the router even though i have a bad card

parkermauney
July 7th, 2007, 20:58
The ethernet port is bad on your pc or the router?

Post a pic of your setup.

steve520
July 7th, 2007, 21:09
I dont know heres in explanation I have my ethernet cable and the modem that the broadband company gave the guy went to plug in the ethernet cord into my PC from the modem he tried to load it up it didnt work. Then he said that my Ethernet Card was bad on my PC . So to get me on the internet he plugged in this USB cable from the modem to my PC and the internet works fine. My question was how will I make my Linksys work when it arrives at my house because i only have the USB connector in my modem to the computer and I was wondering how will I have to set up my Linksys since my ethernet card is bad on PC and I was wondering if it didnt even matter if it was bad or not.

parkermauney
July 7th, 2007, 21:12
Use the ethernet cord to plug the broadband into the router, then use the usb adapter to plug it into your pc.

I wouldn't go with security, some of it's not compatible with the ds, and it's not really necessary. If your neighbors start to steal it, run some scripts that screwup their web browser.

And my FC is:3351 1006 6524

i would suggest using WPA and simply getting one of those wifi usb things to share your internet connection to the DS.

If you have a mac with a wi-if card you can do internet sharing out of the box. meaning you can have fully protected internet in your home, while using a controllable and secure wi-fi signal when you choose.
