DreamChess (http://developer.berlios.de/projects/dreamchess/) is a chess game by Phantom and Mr. Siggler. It runs on Dreamcast, Windows, Linux, and BeOS. The source is available in the link above. A ready to burn CDI image for the Dreamcast version is available here:

http://mrsiggler.boob.co.uk/dreamchess/dreamchess-demo.zip

Also, Mr. Siggler mentioned that they are in need of 3D models, artwork, and eventually audio/music. The game already has the theme support -- take a look in the data folder on the disc, or drop a message in this thread (http://www.dcemulation.com/phpBB/viewtopic.php?t=68053) on the DCEmulation boards if you want more info, and/or are interested in helping out.

Impresive work! I saw the screenshots available in the DCEmulation thread and it looks amazing.

I'm so glad to have a chess game for my DC now! :)

Congrats to Mr Siggler & Phantom for this great work!

I just wanted to point out that this is not version 0.6. The dreamcast-ports-0.6 package on the website contains modified versions of SDL, SDL_image and beroGL which are needed to build the dreamcast port of DreamChess. DreamChess itself is currently in a pre-0.1.0 state and no official releases have been done. We released this demo to see how much interest there is in this and if we can get more people on-board.

Please report any bugs that are found in the bugtracker at http://developer.berlios.de/bugs/?group_id=1625

Thanks. :)

These guys have been working on this game for a long time, and it's great to see the good reaction to this project. I guess the interest is there, Phantom ;)

Yeah, Dreamcast Chess! :) Thank you so much for that! I've yet to burn it but a requested feature would be MP3, OGG or CDDA playback with disc swap support ;)

Tetris CD 2 seems to have a very good working code for these functions.
