I lost count on how many PSP usermode vulnerabilities have been found by distinct hackers and announced here over the past 18 months, but I think we’re at about 12 by now.

We announced a few weeks ago that several hackers have ported VHBL to Vita firmware 2.61 by now. Japanese dev 173210 has been nice enough to share his own port with us. The exploited game he uses is unfortunately only available on the Japanese PSN. So you’ll either have to create a Japanese account on your vita to get access to his hack, or wait patiently for our next release.

As a reminder, VHBL is a homebrew loader running inside the PSP emulator on the Playstation Vita. It lets you run PSP homebrews, including several emulators (SNES, NES, GBA, etc…), but will not let you run PSP isos, let alone pirate PS vita games. Read on for details and the name of the game.

In order to run, VHBL relies on vulnerabilities in official PSN games. You need a legit copy of the exploited game in order for the exploit to trigger. Do not ask if this will work on an iso of the game (it won’t), or if we can make the exploit work for your favorite game instead (exploits do not magically exist in all psp games).

In general, Sony is extremely fast to remove the exploited games from their store (in general less than 48h), this has been so far their way of mitigating the “threat” that 8 bits emulators represent for their business, so if you are interested in VHBL, better get the game now.

Disclaimer and compatibility

We are not distributing the hack right away, it will be distributed in a few days (we typically wait for Sony to remove the game from their store, but this is not set in stone). It means you’ll have to trust us that this is real, buy the exploitable game, and wait for the files. It goes without saying, but neither me nor 173210 are making money when you buy the game, and VHBL comes with no guarantee whatsoever. You are buying a PSP game on your own free will, so don’t blame us if VHBL does not work as expected for you. To give you an idea, 173210 has published recently a list of compatible/non compatible homebrews for his exploit.

Now that you’ve read and agreed to the above, here’s the name of the game:

Jikkyu Powerful Pro Yakyu 2012 Ketteiban(実況パワフルプロ野球 2012決定版)

What you want is the PSP version of the game!!!
