PSPDemon is listening to E3 heres what sony have said so far:

New features for the PSP Include new design which is 33% lighter, 13% Slimmer, has Video Out and outputs high quality video.

Heres news from engadget (http://www.engadget.com/2007/07/11/sonys-new-psp-is-slimmer-includes-video-output/)

http://www.joystiq.com/media/2007/07/dsc_1094.jpg

It's not quite the PSP 2 some might've hoped for, but Sony is giving its handheld console a serious refresh in the form of a slimmer, lighter and faster "updated" PSP. The new unit still includes the 4.3-inch LCD and UMD, but is 33 percent lighter, 19 percent slimmer, has sped up game load times and improved battery life. The only real "new" features is a video output capability to allow you to play your PSP games on a big screen TV. You can score one in September in the original Piano Black, a new Ice Silver color, and a Star Wars Battlefront special edition.

*yawn*

I like the one (two) that I have, and they run homebrew. Not sure what attraction a new PSP would have for me, especially if it has a smaller screen.

okay.....sorry about that....its hard to post on my phone....so I was giving the news as it was happening ( watching the MGS4 trailer )...

yes.....that is true.... seems as though I have 2 sources one saying 19% and the other saying 13% slimmer

the psp looks the same as the current model just slimmer...better battery life....lighter....and faster....

as for ice silver...mix white and silver and make it really shinny.....that's what it looks like...

I'm definantly getting this new psp :)

Thanks for Everything

ps: sorry for the confusion

Sounds pretty damn good. Especially the Starwar's PSP. I just might have to get that one. Then again, I do want the MGS:PO PSP :p.

Maybe I should start selling my PSPs to get these new ones, I have 2 already... lol

i dunno maybe i should trade in a bunch of psp games and stuff and buy it...

nah only if it has homebrew support

Tophe
July 11th, 2007, 21:25
No homebrew -> No psp

felonyr301
July 11th, 2007, 21:26
What do they mean by faster load times? They gonna be using the memory stick for loading the game since they included the iso running feature in the firmware or they just have improved the umd loading times then.

Like everyone said if it's impossible to run homebrew on it without some kind of mod chip then count me out only thing I might like is that it's a little slimmer than before and big plus is that battery life is longer.

Hopefully won't forget us with the original psp and never bring in a bigger battery.

July 11th, 2007, 21:32
just think about this video out

if this new model psp supports homebrew? just imagine you can play n64 or ps1 gba yadda yadda yadda and all the other great stuff on the psp everywhere you go!

like say you have a portable dvd player with video in

WOW imagine the possibilities

i need to buy this IF it has homebrew

parkermauney
July 11th, 2007, 21:32
I may get one when homebrew support is enabled.

Solidsnake3000
July 11th, 2007, 21:37
damn were is D_A when you need him he would atleast let us find a way to make the psp run umd's faster and let us play games on the tv with no problems

acn010
July 11th, 2007, 21:44
sweet.. i would imagine the ultimate homebrew gaming system!!!!!!!!!!

the_eternal_dark
July 11th, 2007, 21:45
Hmmm haven't we heard of tv out on a handheld console before? Wasn't it called the GP2X? And don't I already have one (and it plays homebrew)?

I don't see the point of buying a "new" PSP for the sake of faster load times and tv out if I can't play homebrew. Plus the price gets jacked back up to ~$200 again? No thanks. The DS lite was cheaper when it came out, why didn't Sony learn from that as well?

Two words, VERY LAME.

acn010

A new anti-homebrew feature.

Damn right

but Sony is giving its handheld console a serious refresh in the form of a slimmer, lighter and faster "updated" PSP

Big fat wow...

. The new unit still includes the 4.3-inch LCD and UMD,but is 33 percent lighter, 19 percent slimmer, has sped up game load times and improved battery life.

Same screen just a little brighter ? meh .... , faster loader times can be achieved by running of mem stick , extra battery life can be achieved by BUYING AN EXTRA BATTERY.

The only real "new" features is a video output capability to allow you to play your PSP games on a big screen TV. You can score one in September in the original Piano Black, a new Ice Silver color, and a Star Wars Battlefront special edition.

Won't the video out produce a very pixelated image on wide screen ( correct me if i'm wrong) , the best thing about this seems to be the new colours , the star wars adition one looks hawt.

jerrt
July 11th, 2007, 22:52
but will current gen psps be able to do video out?

jerrt
July 11th, 2007, 22:54
A new anti-homebrew feature.

if it doesn't have a memory stick slot, why would they bundle one into the new packs.? come on.

cataphrax
July 11th, 2007, 23:02
Eh, I could care less. This is basically the difference between a ds lite and a ds phat, it looks a little better, it's brighter but when you come down to it it's pretty much the same thing, plus I bet it's unhackable. At least nintendo changed the form of it, if those are the pics then, my god, it looks exactly the same. They totally should have changed the design.

sukhi-2006
July 12th, 2007, 00:16

acn010

July 12th, 2007, 01:24
While this is great news, I was really, really hoping for another analog stick. Even if it just functioned as the original (ie both sticks do the same thing in games). Not having an analog on the right side really hampers FPS game usage.

I don't know about the rest of you all, but the face buttons just feel so awkward in comparison to another analog or the D-Pad.
