Apple's tablet range thus far includes the traditional 9.7-inch iPad design, which was followed by the 7.9-inch iPad Mini last year. Samsung's Galaxy Tab line, meanwhile, spans seven-inch, eight-inch and 10.1-inch designs.
However, the rival manufacturers are both said to be producing 12-inch tablet designs, according to Digitimes (http://www.digitimes.com/news/a20131014PD206.html), which is expected to spark a consumer appetite for large-screened models that will be detrimental to the notebook market.
The laptop space is already suffering, of course, withtablets set to overtake shipments this year (http://www.mobile-ent.biz/news/read/tablet-shipments-to-pass-pcs-in-2015-and-laptops-in-2013/021470) before passing PC shipments in 2015.
Apple is thought to be working with Quanta Computer – Apple iWatch partner – on its foot-long slates, while Samsung is going at it alone by producing the devices in house after a Google partnership was dumped because the Android creator wants to concentrate on seven-inch models.
But what's 12-inches when compared to Panasonic's 20-inch tablet? (http://www.mobile-ent.biz/news/read/ces-2013-panasonic-writing-tech-to-offer-near-unlimited-app-potential/020267)
