I just updated to this...Works PERFECT and looks IDENTICAL to DaXs...I'm startin to think these "russian coders" are actually A coder...DAX
He, he... I was actually thinking about this today. Dark_AleX was getting too popular and too recognisable. He was also getting the sole credit for work done by a team of coders. So perhaps the online persona of DAX has been put to bed and the team that was is now the 'Russian Coders' ^^
So now that we have a 3.51 custom firmware.... Anyone gonna try to work out how to bypass the PS3 for Remote Play? ^^

i dont think its DAX.. at first i though so but now that i tried out this version.. its just too incompatible with everything.. i really dont think this is Dax's work.. also the iso loader 100% compat wouldve been included if it was dax's work.
and thnx CM
i dont know what the PS store thing is.. sorry

Umm I'm here to report a bug I found..I was shopping so I don't know if someone reported this, but when I use an application with Wi-Fi..the Wi-Fi doesn't work. I mean,Wi-Fi doesn't work for me inside applications. I tested this on Links2 and with AFKIM.

I can't do without it. I'll update if there is patch that fixes this WIFI problem

I have the most recent version and it doesn't work for me..
Edit: Now I see that the problem is with the 1.50 Kernel. Because, for example,PSPRadio didn't work on the Game150 folder, and it works now in the Game351 folder. And the 1.50 version of AFKIM didn't work,I'm using the 3.XX version now and it works. And the same goes with Links2,the new version, that's made for 3.XX firmwares and goes in the Game3.XX folder works. Hm,at least. I'm feeling better now. :D

Why is it everytime I mention no UMD region free support I'm ignored? Is there some conspiracy? Can US PSPs watch Japanese movies but not vice versa? Are you all trying to watch me squirm?? WTF?!

OK i wont ignore you psyberjock. but i dont know the answer do your question. if it doesnt work for you then thers ur answer i guess..
np. yea.. just a bug.. one big bug that is flying around my Friggen PSP!!! i kinda dont like this firmware.. cwcheat doesnt work for GTA LCS.. and yes i have the latest version of that. and i tried an older version too.. didnt work. cheat device for lcs and vcs doesnt work..
the only thing i love about M33 is the color of the recovery menu and the fact that its version 3.51. and thats it.. o well. team M33 will find a way around this
till then ill be back at 3.03 OE C

I recovered back to 1.50
And then went up to 3.40 OE-A
There must have been a pops compatibility upgrade somewhere between 3.10 and 3.40
that made it possible to play some of the PS1 games that I couldnt using 3.02pops.
I have been using 3.10+Popsloader for a long time now and don't like flashing if I really don't have too.
Anyways I am much happier with 3.40OEA running everything I want it too.
I'll wait for 3.51 M33 to mature a bit before going back up.

July 15th, 2007, 08:31
I understand what you're saying about 3.40 OE offering a bit more, but this has happened before in the past between OE upgrades. Sometimes ways of doing things change as Sony changes the firmware.
Unfortunately region free has NEVER worked.

it doesnt work because it just doesnt!!! wut other logical explanation do you want!? y dont u just dump the umd and convert the video to mp4 format and then put it on ur memory stick then watch it.

Ok i upgraded succesfully but there are some problems. Mainly with the cxmb plugin installed. When enabled i can't go to save data ututilly or usb mode. It will freeze the psp. When i disable the plugin they work fine. I think im going to go back to 3.40oe until this new cf evolves a bit more.
Quick question. In order to go back to 3.40oe do i have to recover back to 1.5 1st?? Or can i just run the 3.40oe installer from the 3.51m33 firmware?

Well, that doesn't really make a lot of sense does it. Imagine if you bought the new slim and light PSP only to find out that it actually weighs more than the current PSP and the video out doesn't work at all. Would you be happy that the box says otherwise and that the firmware has the options for displaying the video on a TV?
Of course not.
Now on the topic of dumping it and converting it to mp4. Why the hell would I buy a video UMD if I could just rip my dvd and watch it from my memory stick. The idea is better quality and no space taken on my memory stick. Apart from that, have you ever tried to rip a video from a UMD? I have. It's not easy (not all videos will be recognized by the ripping software) and then even after you get one to rip, there is no codec support for the UMD video stream, so there is no way to watch it, let alone try to transcode it.
I did want someone to reply, but I was hoping for something a little more thought out and positive. Still, I have to thank you for at least noticing. THANKS!
cali: Yes, only movies. Games all work.

Its the battery icon that is locking your PSP "system_plugin_fg.rco"
I use CXMB too and I think thats a confirmed problem with 2.51M33.
Delete that rco and everything should work fine.

Hehe, well I've pretty much come to the realization that my Once Upon a Time in Mexico UMD will remain forever useless.
The part I don't understand is why it keeps getting pushed along in the firmware updates when it has never worked. Seriously Russian Guys, just take it out.
At least then I won't get my hopes up every time a new custom firmware is released.

I was looking on wiki and looked up M33 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Messier_33) and I came across something kind of interesting...
Could Team M33 possibly stand for Team Messier 33?
And I beleive the 33 part is relative to their location in lattitude/ longitude, but 33 refers more to Turkey rather than Russia!!!!
I think you're right. I actually thought this name sounded like a constellation or system, but I never followed up on it to be sure.
http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/3/3f/PIA03033.jpg/275px-PIA03033.jpg
This picture looks just like the one on the icon of the updater and maker.
A bit from Wikipedia:
Because Messier lived and did his astronomical work in France in the Northern Hemisphere, the list he compiled contains only objects from the north celestial pole to a celestial latitude of about –35°
Doesn't DAX mostly post stuff on a French language site? And since the -33rd latitude runs all the way around the Earth, it could be any place that is found along that line.
Here's a bit more interesting information:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Galaxies_in_fiction#Triangulum_Galaxy
the pertinent part:
Triangulum Galaxy
* In the fictional Star Trek universe, the Triangulum Galaxy is where the USS Enterprise-D is warped to after a being known as The Traveler uses his knowledge to influence the ship's warp drive. M33 is said to be approximately 2.7 million light years away from the United Federation of Planets territories. The galaxy was first encountered in the Star Trek: The Next Generation episode "Where No One Has Gone Before".
* Triangulum is a setting for a number of races in the related Star Fleet Universe, explored in a module currently in development.
* The second season finale of seaQuest DSV featured the seaQuest being transported to the planet Hyperion, over eleven million light years away from Earth in the Triangulum Galaxy.
* In Stargate: Horizon (a virtual series of Stargate written in script form), the Horizon Gate system connects to the Triangulum Galaxy; its gate system is different from Earth's and Atlantis's.
* On Gene Roddenberry's Andromeda the Systems Commonwealth had territory in the Triangulum Galaxy in addition to the Andromeda and Milky Way Galaxies.
* In the Belgian comic book series Yoko Tsuno written by Roger Leloup, M33 is the home of the blue-skinned Vineans, whom the main characters befriend. About a third of the stories take place in this galaxy.

Well, there is one way to find out. Someone get a game that requires 3.51 and try to boot it up! Or better yet, let's find a free demo that requires the new firmware and see if it loads. Personally, I'm pretty sure this firmware is the real deal.

Me too! I'd like to get it to work so I could buy an American copy of Napoleon Dynamite! Sony and the movie industry just don't know how much money they're losing with these region codes. I would own even more movies if I didn't have to worry about them not being viewable on my hardware. As it is, I am forced to not buy movies. I can't help that I live in a country where they don't speak English! Sure I could watch movies in Japanese, but everyone hates voice overs. I'd rather not watch than have to sit through voice overs. Then if the movie is orginally in Japanese, I'd prefer to watch it in Japanese with or without English subtitles. Region codes screw all that to hell and prevent me from being able to buy anything.

ok so i updated to M33. it was cool, for like 10 min, then i used the Theme Cycler and put a new theme on. when that was enabeled, i couldn't do anything. everything i touched...froze. i couldn't usb connect or anything. i have been able to run homebrew though. i did forget to default settings when i still had 3.40 OE-A , and that trick with default settings still gets me back to frozen pages.
all in all, i need help because i can't downgrade. i used the X.YZ downgrader that came with the 3.50 downgrader package on noobz. that game me an error message "The game could not be started. (DADADADA)." i tried it on both the 1.50 kernal and the 3.51 kernal. i then tried putting the 1.50 eboot in the PSP/GAME/RECOVERY folder. when i accessed that from the recovery mode, i got a black screen, the MEM stick icon flashed for a lil bit and the PSP turned off.
Can anyone help, or tell me my problem?
I wanna downgrade.

Themes don't work initially with a new released custom firmware. I think that was understandable long before since 3.03 OE. when 3.10 OE was release ZingaBurga needed to hack the top_menu_plugin.rco file so we can use it on 3.10 same with the release of 3.30 OE and 3.40 oe. When someone can hack the new RCOs then we can start customizing our XMBs again.

This new 3.51 M33 custom firmware is really having an impact. I, like others, did not expect such progress on custom firmware so soon. And with reports of other teams working on their own custom firmware projects, this should be an indication to SONY that its not going away.
All SONY did was make a martyr out of Dark_AleX. And the response to that was rallying a global community of dedicated homebrew fans that won't be pushed around and told how they can and cannot use their PSP.
I hope that 100% noUMD will still be realized at some point. There is obviously a way to do it. Its only a matter of finding out just how DAX & team pulled it off. Sooner or later the cats gotta come out of the bag.

I really don't get why people keep sounding excited about maybe playing PSX ISO, BIN, IMG, whatever. That is going a step backwards if you ask me. By changing them to EBOOT you can add compression which helps tremendously on a lot of games and you can also customize them.
Playing raw ISO files for PSX games would be a pointless feature to have on any custom firmware IMHO.

<--snip-->.
The main reason why there is no 100% NO UMD mode yet is because they need an example of its use first.
Much like the Sony Hotshots Golf Psx that allowed Dark Alex to reverse engineer the popstation, a real game released in the official NO UMD format from Sony is needed. It is still possible a talented coder could figure it out without this but it would be much more difficult. I hope Sony do release some official games in the NO UMD format because I would definately have no problem purchasing any worthy titles.

get the oeflasher folder with the data.dxar in it and the eboot. and rename the folder to RECOVERY. then put that in GAME folder. then go to recovery menu and run program at /psp/game/recovery/eboot.pbp or something liek that. then you should get to the OE version u want to be at

if you have done this before then you should now how to do it again.
just generate the dxar by using the 1.5 and 3.40 eboots and take the eboot in oe maker. make a folder called recovery and put all those contents in there. then run it from the recovery menu. after you are done. delete everything except the data.dxar, get the eboot from the oeflasher folder and put it in the recovery folder. then run the program through recovery menu again. then you should know what to do after that..

umm thats weird. are you sure you ran the oeflasher after?? if this doesnt work then just run normal recover to 1.50. i hope you know how to do that.. go into psp emulation forum and go to recovery pack (its one of the stickied threads) then download the recovery pack on first post. then get the 1.50 eboot and rename it to UPDATE.PBP, put that in the recovery pack folder. then replace the recovery folder on your psp with the one that you downloaded. then run recovery on the recovery menu. after downdating. run the oeflasher

you don't need to run it thru the recovery menu, people over at QJ jump around the custom firmwares, all you do is go thru the same process you did to get it in the first place, with the updatemaker and the flasher, as it formats the flash0 it won't matter where your at

Umm, I'm new here, but I have IMPORTANT NEWS! there is a new psp, just released, what does this mean for homebrew!?!?! will it be able to be downgraded? will it have some sort of build it block to prevent hombrew no matter the firmware version? Is the new psp worth getting?? decide for yourself! I've used this ssite for years I'm glad to finally be a member. I think I'm the first to post about this new PSP and what it means for the homebrew community; I believe that the new PSP will be homebrew compatible and that it will provide a fantastic boost to the PSP-homebrew and PSP-mod communities. Power to the people enjoy! ~~~(extended information)(http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/PlayStation_Portable) (something fun)(http://www.amazon.com/Horatio-Hornblower-Collectors-Ioan-Gruffudd/dp/B000AYEIW2/ref=pd_bbs_sr_1/105-0780911-7893268?ie=UTF8&s=dvd&qid=1184568971&sr=8-1) -SISKO have fun wid-it!

I flash from the recovery mode, in advanced, toggle usb flash0, and then manually flash the files.

Yes you can, just make sure you use the 1.50 patch before installing it

i recommend sticking to 3.40OE since 3.51 M33 is still very buggy!

I updated on this firmware from DarkAlex's 3.40 OE-A and I enjoy it so far. Unfortunately, I keep getting "The game could not be started" errors when I start my CSOs. I dont currently have any ISOs on my memstick, but I remember someone mentioning on this thread that CSOs work just as well as ISOS.
Does anyone have any suggestions as to what this might be?

Turn on no-umd mode, or use a UMD in the drive.

I'm sorry if this has been asked before, but i've been searching around for a while, and can't find anything.
What plugins are 100% compatible with this firmware? I am on the latest revision, and can't get any plugins to work properly (i've never tried any before, and i've only tried a few).
If there is a list, can someone point in it's direction? I am particularly interested in any mp3 playing plugins (mp3s in games etc).
Cheers :) I would appreciate an answer either here or via pm :)

I don't know but all 3 of my plugins work, I use the VSHAnalog (swaps Dpad and Analog in XMB), AntiUpdate (eliminates the firmware update logo in the XMB), and PRXInfo (shows battery level, tempature, cpu speed and more in the XMB).

Fantastic :) I downloaded antiupdate and prxinfo, and both of them work great! No need for the vhsanalogue, but it's good to know it works :)
Does anyone else have any 100% working prx's? Especialy if anyone knows any of the mp3 playing sort...
Cheers.

Oh right? I couldn't get irsmp3 to work at all. Did you flash it or run it through the recovery menu thing? I'm using the SEPlugins folder (i know i'm using it right, as i can get some other plugins to work).
I'll try some others later on, see if i can get them to work.

I do appologise if this has already been asked but does this firmware work on a TA-0582 motherboard?
blackrave
July 22nd, 2007, 12:27
I'm guessing you mean TA-082, and if you do, yeah. I'm pretty sure all motherboards will run this firmware just fine. I'm a bit confused as to all the fixes that have been released for TA-082 motherboards, though. Something called idstorage fix and a wlan & brightness fix. Wait for someone to confirm. :)
Chameleon
July 22nd, 2007, 12:38
yes TA-082s work with this custom firmware 100%
blackrave- when downgrading TA-082s you must use the idstorage fix or the corruption free downgrader... but often times the idstorage fix doesnt help with brightness issues, so the brightness fix must be done manually.
wlan fix is a whole different topic... thats with this firmware when upgrading, homebrew using the wlan feature didnt work, but is now patched because the M33 team fixed the bug with a new release.

I'm still a little squeptical with this firmware. I want to update but I really like my theme and I keep hearing of constant freezes and the battery icon not being able to display correctly. I guess I'll wait until the 8th or the 9th update they release.

The team creating the firmware is Russian, and so is the PSP site they release their stuff at. But, of course, they make readme's in English since that is the standard International language.

Do you already have to be a certain firmware to use this? Can you upgrade to this with any firmware or do you have to have 3.51 or 1.50? Also with this can it work with other psp applications? Also if there are further firmware updates by sony, will I be able to upgrade to the latest custom MM3 firmware level if I have the current M33 one installed?

Nah,all you need is a pandoras battery
but to make one you'd need a psp which has custom firmware already on it
or buy one ready made

Well unfortunately, as of last time I checked (which was about a month ago so it's possible I'm wrong) but I don't believe the 3000 can be modded yet. Correct me if I'm wrong anybody else.... but I regret to inform you you'll just have to wait for someone to successfully hack into the 3000 system...

if the PSP is at OFW 5.03 or lower you can run ChickHEN
if the firmware is higher than 5.03 you're out of luck.

Whoa, this is old - as in 8 years ago. You really should try your hand at the 6.60/6.61 custom firmware for PSP, it has more features and is more stable with better support for the various types of PSP console out there.
