I got the adult version of the book when I was on my way home yesterday from being away, I'm going to get the children's version when I'm out and about tomorrow...

...I'm not reading mine thou, I'm keeping it in collectors condition by not reading it (why ruin a first print) - I will borrow one from the library if I'm eager to read it (or wait until 2009/2010 for the movie) :D

Adult version and childrens version? wtf?!?!?!?

Like what I thought when I saw 2 versions in the store, adult version (picture attached below) sitting on my keyboard...

...This is the UK adult version, I compared thickness and size of the 2 versions and there is no difference apart from the cover???

So that adults don't look like total idiots reading a childrens book. They change the cover and make it seem more adult like. thats the godhonest truth

Evon von Vampdragn
July 22nd, 2007, 19:18
Adults shouldn't feel ashamed for reading that for a different cover just because the other one looks like a kids book, might i add a really large "kids" book.

Thats very true, Happy Potter appeals to older reader too.. Even readers with a "posh" book collection.

If one of those childrens books was to be inside a posh book case surrounded by all posh books. It would look gay

ha ex i finished it before you. and the usa cover sucks compared to ours!

i went to the midnight launch also very good.

plus more than 250 pages in 3 hours is incredible, it is supposed to take 20 hours to read in total. i'm now certain you are a bit autistic. and the ending of the plot was very satisfiny, but the epilogue was the shittest piece of shit ever, destroying a good series. it stops you wondering about what the future holds for the characters. turns out it is mundane bollocks.

I agree. The book was great, but the "19 years later" thing was unnecessary.

I think it was for closure, so no one could continue the story.

Yer??

@ Sonicboy 101 + lmtlmt:

It's all to do with marketing appeal for both older and younger readers, strangely enough more adult readers read the Harry Potter books than children so there are ones for adults (with the cool covers) or the ones for children (with the weird looking cover with Harry and his 2 friends)

So that adults don't look like total idiots reading a childrens book. They change the cover and make it seem more adult like. thats the godhonest truth

lol

Adults shouldn't feel ashamed for reading that for a different cover just because the other one looks like a kids book, might i add a really large "kids" book.

It's not that adults feel ashamed, it's nothing to do with the adult readers. The publication decided that because adults read the books aswell as children that they could market an adult version aswell as the children's version using a different cover and back. The adult version has a picture of J.K.R on the back cover, whereas the children's version doesn't.

Thats very true, Happy Potter appeals to older reader too.. Even readers with a "posh" book collection.

If one of those childrens books was to be inside a posh book case surrounded by all posh books. It would look gay

I've seen adult's who are upper class reading the children's versions, they don't seem to mind??? lol

;) just kidding.

lol, they would if they actually looked like Harry Potter

I have this book. Reserved it the day the sixth book came out (to assure i get it) ended up getting it for $27...good book too...
