Nintendo announced 2DS in August. The redesigned handheld plays the entire library of cartridge and digital 3DS and DS titles, but "only in 2D".
Nintendo has said the handheld is designed specifically for younger players and "anyone looking for a more affordable entry point into the world of Nintendo hand-held video games."
2DS is available in white & red and black & blue colours in Europe. In North America, black & red and black & blue variations are available.
