http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2013/10/galaxygear-lead.jpg (http://www.engadget.com/2013/10/28/samsung-galaxy-gear-update/)Right on schedule (http://www.engadget.com/2013/10/23/galaxy-gear-compatibility-gs4-gs3-note2/), Samsung has announced the rolling out of a key software update that will bring Galaxy Gear (http://www.engadget.com/2013/10/01/samsung-galaxy-gear-review/) smartwatch support to more of its phones in the United States, beyond just the Galaxy Note 3 (http://www.engadget.com/2013/09/30/samsung-galaxy-note-3-review/). Owners of the Galaxy S 4 (http://www.engadget.com/2013/04/24/samsung-galaxy-s-4-review/), Galaxy Note II (http://www.engadget.com/2012/10/08/samsung-galaxy-note-ii-review/) andGS3 (http://www.engadget.com/2012/05/25/samsung-galaxy-s-iii-review/) will get their refresh as early as today, or "over the coming weeks" depending on their exact model and how energetic their carrier is. The same update will also upgrade the OS to Android 4.3 (http://www.engadget.com/2013/09/04/android-4-3-arriving-for-galaxy-s-3-and-galaxy-s-4-in-october/) and add compatibility with the manufacturer's KNOX software for businesses. As expected, owners of Galaxy Mega (http://www.engadget.com/2013/07/02/samsung-galaxy-mega-review/) and the GS4 Mini (http://www.engadget.com/2013/07/22/samsung-galaxy-s4-mini-review/) handsets will have to wait a little longer for these features, but should expect their update in the "coming months."
