Ever since the word was leaked three months ago (http://www.gamesindustry.biz/content_page.php?aid=24633) that the makers of the immensely popular World of Warcraft were hiring for a new MMO, speculation has run rampant as to what the subject would be.

Now, with only a day left to go before BlizzCon, we've grabbed the scoop.

Michael Morhaime, president and co-founder of Blizzard Entertainment had this to say:

"We don't like being accused of being part of the problem when it comes to MMO stagnation." Said Morhaime, referring to a recent GamesIndustry.biz rant (http://www.gamesindustry.biz/content_page.php?aid=27031) by NCSoft exec Richard Garriott.

"To that end, our new title will be quite revolutionary. 'World of Oarcraft' is currently in development and on schedule for an early 2009 release. This will be a fishing simulation like you have never seen before."

Among other promises, Morhaime revealed that they had been working closely with Google to provide the maps for real-world fishing spots like the Sea of Japan, the Gulf of Mexico, and even Lyman Lake, WI. "People always talk about getting to the great outdoors, but are seldom able to make the time to camp out and travel to all these beautiful places. We figured that there was a market to bring the lake right to the consumer."

It wouldn't be a proper MMO without being able to trick out your virtual avatar with all the equipment necessary to make their virtual live easier. "We're currently in sponsoring talks with the likes of Evinrude, Rapala and even Miller. *laughs* We know that beer is integral to the bonding experience when one goes fishing."

More information on this groundbreaking title is slated to be released during the upcoming BlizzCon festivities, so keep your eyes peeled for more news on the fishing experience of your life!
