Just because Deniska told me to start this project here it is!

The Language pack / Internationalization thread

The idea is to share languagepacks and configs and maby Deniska will code in support for multiple languagefiles and configfiles in the next version of MapThis.

RULES:
For the current version of MapThis (MapThis0499_beta.rar) we will allow you guys to make changes to the config.txt and the help.txt file located in the [ mapViewer/system/ ] folder. Lets leve the pictures intact for now and wait a while. :D

Maby in the next version Deniska could code in support for multiple languagefiles, configs and pictures :)
for example: mapViewer/system/languagepack/swedish with subfolders souch as: /images /sounds /config and /help :D

As you all know both language features and diffrent config files could be great if you travel abroad. :p
Souch things as Speedlimits and various timezones etc.

i will try to translate the pacs to:
Swedish and Polish for starters and you guys can fill the rest up and ill edit the next thread in this section with links, just remember to PM me or so if i forget *Im human after all :D

No the Config and help file did not support Swedish ÄÅÖ letters so i just put in AAO instead, but thats the only *error* i got tampering with it ;)

The Help file is just like a Textfile showing up on the PSP so i dont think it will affect anything ;)

My edited config file works great too. as long as i edit all the text within the fencefields ;)

Well thanx dude ;)
I said "With luck this thread could be pinned"
Im not the Admin of this forum :p

Hence i can not pin threads

My Swedish translation is finished, soon ill proceed with the Polish and Airwave is going to translate his to German.

So this far we will soon have support in four languages if you don´t count in the russian pack that already exists with edited pictures in it ;)

We will wait with the picture translations untill we hear from Densika that he is going to implement multipla language support and some of my other suggestions to the MapThis project ;)

World domination starts in small steps.

PDG, you can already translate the whole program. This was a feature Deniska provided in .99

I'm sure about that.

Implementing speed ranges would be confusing for most of the users, in my opinion.

Did you modify the corresponding font images?
Your zipfile does not seem to include them..

I receved your PM about translating it to German

To make things clear, in the config file your can only translate all coments (everything starting with #)

You cannot change variable names (FAKEFEED, WARNINGDISTANCE, etc) since the program is looking for them.

MapThis uses image-based fonts for display of data. This means that you need to edit the 2 png images with font definitions to add or substitute your local letters. Then add your new letter definition to LOCAL_CHARSET variable, which defines the order in which the characters appear in the image files.
Thurthermore, to make complete internationalization pack, you'll need to re-assign the mapping in danzeff on-screen keyboard and change the graphics files, representing it.
download and check the russian localization pack for details. (it comes with one of the recent betas.. 4.99, i think)

I think a small solution is maybe possible when can set two speedwarning limits.for example 50 and 100

right deniska with sounds is not so good.

We have speedlimits here in Sweden too :)
30, 50, 70, 90, and 120 Kmph.

I just set my config to 90 because i seldom have to go over it, but if i know i have to i can change it to 120 before i go :) But various speedlimits and soundfiles is a great idea ;)

Ooh i noticed i wrote stars (*) when i ment fences (#) My bad.. :p

whats is the fonts used on bigfont.png and localfont_small.png?¿

this is a problem. change viewer codification to UTF8. ñ -> Ñ

my localization.txt its write in UTF8 (End of line UNIX)

ideal is write and reads mapthis and all text in UTF8 codification and type "end of line" in UNIX (WIN/DOS make strangle characters in the end of line in the mapthis)

russian localization.txt on UTF8 (http://sl1pkn07.no-ip.com/imagenes/mylocalization.png)

Maby by letting the user toggle speedlimits by adjusting it on the go :)
like jumping out to the main menu with all icons and set speedlimits as people set CPU speed ;)

and, soundfiles could be triggered from there too but one sound to rule them all would do to :)

deniska
August 9th, 2007, 01:58
I assume that you are talking about the POI icons.
The icons in the POI list menu are currently driven by catch phrases. i.e. the route icon is displayed if there is a word "route" or "way" in the file name.

The POI icons on the map screen can be linked to any image in the map's directory with "!IMAGE" tag:
Here is an example of image definition in POI file.
#

!WAYPOINT

Adress lookup - takes a mailing address and returns the gps coordinates for that address..if the address is in fact found - it displays it on screen.

Reverse lookup - tries to match current gps coordinates to the closest street address/intersection and return the address

I've got a small question....

The localisationfile... if you comment out the variables STANDARD_LETTERS, CAPITAL_LETTERS etc. for the danzef-keyboard, do mapThis takes the standard values or do I have to define them?

It should default to standard "danzef" values..
define anly the variables that are different..

@ the two german's Airwave and Waltrock.
Why don't you write "Lese GPS-Daten vom Empfänger"? I think it sounds a little bit better.

But only my opinion - nice work at all. I'll try this weekend. Too much work ...

Waltrock
August 24th, 2007, 08:02
well, I tried it out, but this word just doesn't fit in the square ;)

So, hold on guys, i'll release now a beta-version of the german language-pack. You want to know what is in it? Just read:

- german male voice promts
- german help.txt
- german CONFIG.txt
- german translation.txt
- german menu
- german sounds.txt for GMDL

whats currently don't work:
- german letters: Ä, Ö, Ü, ß
- editing german CONFIG.txt "in-game"

whats coming up:
- much more voices (especially from Users fritzgerald, Mysteryman and me)
- much more voice-samples for different traffic-situations
- german splashscreen

Why I want to release this version right now? - I want to test this editings on so much PSPs we can reach here... The voice-samples are tested by fritzgerald and bolemichel, so I'm sure that they will work everywhere.

I hope you enjoy this languagepack - now to my questions:

1) Deniska, would you like to have a look at my translation.txt and the bigfonts? I donno why I get scary letters when there is a Ä, Ö or Ü in the POI-text

2) And, additionally, is there a limitation how far I can scroll down in the CONFIG.txt "in-game"? Because I cannot get to last line to edit it. If not, please have a look at it if you have some time.

You'll find a Liesmich.txt in the archive how to install that pack.

Thats quite all from me for this weekend. Feel free to PM me...

Greeting from Germany!

Greeting from Germany!

1) some of the problems may arise from missing
localfont_small.png file (you have to define new symbols for small font too)

2) You probably want to have ~15 blank lines at the end of the file.. Make sure that total number of lines does not exceed 100

Right, but you should have a geodata file in the same _map directory. You can create it from file POI using GMDL. Start GMDL, then GEODATA ->POI TO DAT (use settings for Russia)
The radius of action for "Address Reverse" ~160 m

I think that official variant is better. When you impose color, icons vary also (I mean "hide panel"- the Cross not red, etc.)
However it's possible to make change of color every month, like themes on PSP :)

Guys,

good stuff, but why would not you attach your files directly to your forum messages instead of linking them to file-sharing services, where they dissapear after a few weeks?
You should be able to attach up to 115.37 MB of zip files, which should be enough for most of the stuff you do.. (or is this quota just for me??, anyway check "advanced" options and let me know)

Hi all,

I made an italian translation for

- help.txt
- config.txt

find it attached. I avoided italian accented letters
like à, è etc. Instead I replaced them with a', e' etc..
Let me know if someone find bugs/errors.

PS: the config.txt is the one WORKING FOR THE
LATEST NIEKO MODIFICATION of mapthis
(it's the version I currently have installed:
http://www.dcemu.co.uk/vbulletin/sho...09&page=37#368.)

Now I'd like to go on with the modifications to the menubuttons,
but I do not have photoshop, I've gimp.
Anyone can point me on how to use/convert .psd
to gimp? or should I really go to photoshop for
this task :-( ???

Hi AlbertoZ, welcome to the club of translators :)
Maybe You can use this little program, it's an image convertor and imports and exports pdf files and is totaly free. http://www.etrusoft.com/graphic-converter/
Maybe instead of Gimp you can use Paint.NET http://www.getpaint.net/download.html and is also free
Good luck

Hi philiphili, it's nice to be able to contribute to this wonderful software!

Here is my italian translation of menubuttons.png

not really a professional in graphic but the result is, I think, decent (at least it shows up quite nicely on my PSP).

Now I'd like to go to an italian translation of the sounds.
Female voice, of course :-), using "festival" voice syntheziser.

Hi Nieko,

in the russian localization pack I can see a "localization.txt" + the various .png for the letters.
In my case (italian) I do not have change the .png.

- Is it just matter of translating localization.txt and
placing in the "system" folder of mapthis?

Yep, I tried it. no recompilation needed, great.

I added to the italian localization pack the
"localization.txt". So, at the moment the ita pack has:

- menubuttons.png
- localization.txt
- help.txt
- config.txt

plus the graphical gimp templates.
All these files needs to be placed to the system folder of mapthis.

If someone tests it please report errors/bugs..

Next days I'll try to synthesize the .mp3 messages
in italian.

Hi everyone, here is the Dutch Language pack, included: - Config,
- splashscreen
- help
- localization
- menubuttons
- LeesMij (ReadMe txt translated to dutch manually so nu funny Babelfish,Systran text ) The few things not translated are the sound files, don't know how to for the moment.
Maybe I will stumble upon something one of these days.
So go to the mapviewer file on your PSP overwrite all the English files in the system map with the ones provided in the dutch pack except the LeesMij. Check if the localization file is in you system map and you should have MapThis in dutch from now on.
Still have questions, ask me.

Enjoy

Hi all,

except for the readme.txt I think everything is ready
for the Italian localization pack for MapThis! v 0.501:

menubuttons.png
splashscreen.png
config.txt
help.txt
localization.txt

to be put in /system

Sound files:

message001.mp3
...
message010.mp3

to be put in /system/sounds.

Synthetic voice is not really optimum (but it's funny
to hear a strange voice ;) at least it's a starting point. )
In the zip file there is a readme_ita.txt

Have fun ;)

Its really easy AlbertoZ, just pick up a chick from a Cafe or so simply by saying:

Ciao bella!

 , with such an invitation the only thing you could expect is a kick in the ass ... :)
since it can be understood in "several ways" ...
I like automatic translators, so funny!!!

@Nieko: Eventually yes, I could record some male and female voice just need some time to find someone with a nice voice ...

Hi everyone, finally managed to translate the voice commands to dutch. For now it's only a nice female voice. Maybe a male voice will follow later on. Everything is included in the zipfile. If I made a mistake let me know. I shall fix it ASAP. The dutch pack will be available tommorow again.

A bit sooner finished. All messages start with the Alert beep now. This is really, really the final version of the dutch localization pack, I think. Thanks for the patience.

I almost finished the Portuguese-brazilian language pack, but I'm having a hard time with the local_charset

In localization.txt:

LOCAL_CHARSET=ÀÁÂÃÄŨÆÇÈÉÊËÌÍÎÏÐÑÒÓÔÕÖ×ØÙÚÛÜÝÞß

and my bigfont.png:
http://img407.imageshack.us/img407/1464/bigfontpq0.th.png (http://img407.imageshack.us/my.php?image=bigfontpq0.png)

Of course the colorfull background is just to show that the fonts are in the correct size, they are ommited in the original file.

The problem is when I have a word like:

"getúlio"
"joão"
"adélia"

Mapthis shows:

"getã lio"
"joã o"
"adã lia"

that is for all local_charset charactes. Anyone knows a solution?

It seems like you have saved the localization.txt using Unicode encoding. Try e.g. latin1 or Win1252.

Thanks for the reply :)

The localization file was saved in Latin1, but I've tried all encodings none worked... I'll keep trying to find a solution

I read every forums and after all of that I cannot create my hungarian translation.
I have to create only the third line of bigfont.png or I have to create a totally new one(3 lines)?
I created a 3rd line version and edited the localization and localfont_small, but it doesnt work. At the small characters I have only pink dots and bigfonts are "ÁÁ", nothing else.
could you help me?
I become crazy very soon...
