Nintendo 64DD (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nintendo_64DD) Emulation may soon be a reality!

kammedo of ASSEMblergames (http://www.assemblergames.com/forums/showthread.php?t=14751) has pulled out some awesome & obscure Nintendo 64 development hardware that can potentially dump Nintendo 64DD cartridges. It has been very difficult to begin any Nintendo 64DD emulation, especially since there aren't any ROM Images dumped. With the development suite kammedo has: a Partner Nintendo 64 unit (http://assembler.roarvgm.com/Nintendo_64_developer_kit/Partner1/partner1.html), PC Interface Card (http://assembler.roarvgm.com/Nintendo_64_developer_kit/Partner2/partner2.html), RAM cartridge & cable (http://assembler.roarvgm.com/Nintendo_64_developer_kit/Partner3/partner3.html), and a Nintendo 64DD Development Unit (http://assembler.roarvgm.com/64_DD_Developers_unit/64_dd_developers_unit.html), it is now possible to dump Nintendo 64DD development or retail carts, but don't go around asking for dumps! ;)

This is a very good thing, maybe it will be possible to play some of the few games that got released for the 64 DD now, well at some point in the future, maybe even get some support for it built into Daedalus if StrmnNrmn has time :)

Surely it's not the best idea in the world to go shouting around that you are doing dumps of cartridges?

Cool hardware though, puts my HK Famicom with disk drive to shame.

Oh good! More abandonware!

Just a reminder, ROM dumps are legal in Hong Kong. :)

I really don't think Nintendo is going to care too much about N64DD dumps since the project was a failure from the start. Hopefully this will be added into project64 some day.

Correct me if I am wrong, but weren't all of the N64DD games only released in Japanese. Personally I hate playing games where I can't understand what the text is saying.

This is quite a breakthrough. All we need now is DS compatibility.

That's quite a breakthrough, but its a pity there weren't many good titles for the 64DD as most were scrapped during production.

The N64 with the DD on it looks like something that'd eat your babies if it had the chance...

im guessing that we need to get the N64DD bios to play

is it possible that we might actually be able to play Ura Zelda and Pokemon RPG 64?? or wait those were just proposed games.. hmm there should be dumps of those demos at least. otherwise the 64DD would be no fun because the only released games were crappy..

Hmm...
Let me say. It would be fun, if you're waiting for that moment: the moment you play f-zero x EK, just like me.
I'll be also happy seeing the whole Sim City 64 thing.
My dreams are coming true... first star fox 2, now 64DD (after all that years...).... And about PKM RPG 64, I've never heared of such a project. The Earthbound 64 and Ura Zelda where more near the end of developing on 64DD, but relased whit large cut after on GBA and NGC.
And last thing.... Did you knew that Super Mario 64 2
was transfered to GC, in 2005 called Super Mario 128, and then said that it will be relased on GC, but half-a-year later it was transfered to Revolution and recaled...... Super Mario Galaxy. In my opinion, impresive. More waiting fo this game than for duke nukem forever!

It's possible, that is if prototype builds aside from tech demos exist, and if they ever made it outside of Nintendo Japan into a collector's hands. The chances that a collector would even dump something like Ura Zelda is slim, not to mention the fact that the required dumping hardware can't just be easily found on eBay or the like.

hur hur No good games on the N64 (http://www.gamespot.com/games.html?type=games&platform=4&mode=all&sort=score&dlx_type=all&sortdir=asc) hur hur FF7Sephiroth

Anyways, to contribute to the conversation, I simply cannot wait until the F-Zero expansion gets emulated. What with CPS3 encryption getting broken, and all the new advances, I just love the emulation scene.

You have a very strange definition of sucking. Mine is "below 6 or 7 from major critics" for games I haven't played. If anything that link proved my point more than disproved it.

I think we can agree that all consoles both rock & suck in different ways. I personally enjoyed the Nintendo 64, however, this is not a PSP or N64 sucks thread. So, please stay on topic. Also, actually read the article and the links provided before commenting.

Please send this to the Project64 or 1964 Guys so we can have this emulated.

To the guys thinking UraZelda won't ever see the light of day, never say never.

I've been looking forward to something like this for ages, is this going to be associated with some kind of program? project 64 1.7 can dump textures.

Actually, we already have Ura Zelda, It was released as Master Quest with Wind Waker collecters edition(I think) but that version wasn't how Ura Zelda was originally ment to be.

Strangely enough... Master Quest can be emulated on an N64 emulator

And before... yesterday I never knew at all that this existed...
