Super Mario 3D World (http://www.computerandvideogames.com/nintendo-wii-u/platformer/12739/super-mario-3d-world/) producer Yoshiaki Koizumi has made it clear that there will be no DLC for the latest Mario title.
While New Super Luigi U (http://www.computerandvideogames.com/nintendo-wii-u/platformer/13160/new-super-luigi-u/) was released as DLC for New Super Mario Bros. U (http://www.computerandvideogames.com/nintendo-wii-u/platformer/12296/new-super-mario-bros-u/) earlier this year, it doesn't look like the DLC trend will continue with Super Mario 3D World.
Producer Koizumi told French gaming site Gamekult (http://www.gamekult.com/actu/super-mario-3d-world-linterview-en-trio-A112458.html), that there are no plans to release DLC for Super Mario 3D World.

There will also be a special mini-game with Toad, but I can't talk about it right now."
While DLC doesn't appear to be a major factor in Mario's future, Koizumi noted that the possibility of an open world Mario title would be explored if a large enough number of players expressed interest in it.
Wanting to keep Super Mario 3D World accessible, Koizumi said that it's important that players know where to go, and for this reason the developers "have given great importance on the placement and visibility of the flags."
Last week Nintendo President Satoru Iwata revealed that Super Mario 3D World would be the key title to drive Wii U sales (http://www.computerandvideogames.com/436269/super-mario-3d-world-will-drive-wii-u-sales-says-nintendo-president/).
Nintendo has confirmed a Super Mario 3D World release date (http://www.computerandvideogames.com/426842/super-mario-3d-world-release-date-q4-lineup-confirmed/) of November 22 in the US and November 29 in Europe and Australia.
In our Super Mario 3D World preview (http://www.computerandvideogames.com/435113/previews/super-mario-3d-world-preview-cat-power/) we said "there's every likelihood that this will be the best Nintendo game since Galaxy - and maybe, just maybe, it'll provide enough consistent moments of magic to surpass it."
