find out your firmware in the SETTINGS menu under SYSTEM INFORMATION.
only firmwares 1.0, 1.5 , or custom fimware can run pspTube.
game kernels , & 3.xx folders are features of custom firmwares.

Hi, sry to bother you, but for some strange reason.. it says "There is no network setting. You have to set it". Then, it turns psptube off and i go back to the main menu. I have a network setup already but it doesnt seem to detect it as one. I have my wifi turned on also...

Ok... that's no longer the problem, i found out that i had to put the 150 into my Game3xx instead of putting the 200+ since my firmware is 1.5, but now.. when i tried to start up psptube, it says "Game could not be started. (8002014C)"

welp, got that problem fixed, now the problem is that the video doesnt buffer >_>

Thanks in advance

I'm getting this error message every time.

"Connecting Network...........Connected
Starting SearchThread. Can't resolve host [www.youtube.com]. check DNS server setting."

I am on M33 3.52-4. Went into recovery and disabled all plugins. Also set CPU speed to 333 and kernel to 3.52.

Not working. I've tried with WPA then WEP and finally with no encryption. I've tried giving the psp a static DNS..... nothing working. I've also tried a few other's developer's ID. No go.

Someone help. Please before I lose all my hair.

Did you end up fixing this...im getting the same error message??

First of all, you have official 3.71 firmware or Custom?
You need a custom firmware, and just to tell you, this thread is really old, there are more recent versions of this.

If you have Custom firmware you don't need the 3.52 kernel because you can do it with 3.71's. To change it:

- Boot up your PSP holding R button.
- Go to the Configuration option.
- Press where it says "Game folder kernel " to change it.
- Exit by going Back and then Exit.

If you need more advance help, PM me. ;)

October 30th, 2007, 01:31
Ok, I'm getting the dreaded "no video" and failed searches. I even changed the wlan network from WPA to WPE just to get this thing to work but alas, no luck.

Anybody ever figured out what goes wrong when psptube can't find anything?

EDIT: Problem solved by changing network settings from manual IP to "easy". This is not a good compromise for people with complex routers and networks, unfortunately. :(

Cheers!

sourced, not sure, but some users have reported problems with WEP and firewalls.
I'm sure that info about this, & for the last 2 posts,
can be found on earlier pages of this thread, or the beta release thread.
Recommend use of the beta release, & CaptainMorgan4's config
(d/load from the other thread) - more reliable than the alpha.

hey guys, any reason why my psp is just staying on the buffering screeen, not making any progress??

That's a bug with one of the versions. You should also have a string saying something about 'google cache' below the percentage indicators.

Download the version present in one of the psp slim homebrew threads, I can't remember whether it's here or on **********. Anyway, the file should be named just psptube.<extension>, not psptube<date>.<extension>

OK this is cool but i have to input this (if nobody said this before) because i was also having problems..

THIS VERSION WILL NOT WORK ON CFW 3.71m33-3 and WILL CRASH WHEN USING THE 1.50 KERNEL (im not sure about 3.71m33 or m333-2)
--but not to worry... u just need a diffrent version of psptube : )
This should work for all customfirmwares ; )
here is the link:
http://dl.qj.net/PSPTube-20070812-PSP-Homebrew-Applications/pg/12/fid/14273/catid/140

ALSO there is a new version of this for 1.00
and 1.50 (NOT FOR ANY CFW...its not stable yet to use on CFW DO NOT TRY ON CFW who knows it COULD BRIK YOUR PSP IF YOU TRY IT ON ANY CFW)
http://dl.qj.net/Media-Apps/pg/12/fid/14503/catid/140

That should be it for now and if u need a dev ID(because your lazy) u can use one of these ( a list of other ppls Dev ID....that posted on here ) :
1- ugP3HnT7ruo ------Darthpaul
2- ysH_M2BJk8I ------Darthpaul
3- 7_F2rt2qys8 ------Zero1992
4- 40RQvz8Fm_o -------this was mine : )

i'll add more...or make more
but it should work...

we... ive tried this on most cfw that i had(3.03 oe-c ->3.52 m33 ) and it doesnt work on any of them. The same video loading thing keeps happening. So i decided to get the new verion( its a beta... not sure if i can post the link but here it is download here (http://dl.qj.net/PSPTube-20070909-PSP-Homebrew-Applications/pg/12/fid/14503/catid/140)
THIS WILL NOT WORK WITH ANY CFW FOR SURE!!! I TRIED AND I GUARANTEE IT WONT!!... in order to get it to work with our beloved cfw, you need our old friend, devhook. Using devhook, you can emulate 1.5 and use the beta version of psptube on your psp. Ill post up how to do all this once i get home(at skool hahaha) :D

Does it really works for you guys? Because for me... well, it works, but it's unusable - it takes something like 30 - 60 seconds to buffer video, then it will play for xx seconds and then it will hang (probably more buffering)... And when opening saved videos (how do you get to saved videos screen other way than selecting offline mode at start???) I get only black screen (well, I tried xx times and few times it worked... ???)

Hi friends ,...if i want to play the videos directly without converting, from the post in this thread,i knew that we want to change the kernel to 3.52...where is the kernel ..my version is 3.6..can anyone help please........
I didn't really keep up with the psp updates recently, but I think that you need a homebrew enabled firmware first. Try 3.52 M33 for example. When you install it, hold R while turning on your psp and it'll lead you to the recovery menu. Go to configuration and there you can change the kernel mode. Hope I helped.

Does anyone have a solution for the buffering screen? It seems to work fine, up until you select the video. The it just stands on 0% buffering indefinitely.

Likely solution. (http://dcemu.co.uk/vbulletin/showpost.php?p=2147995110&postcount=17)
:)

This thread should really be closed as it only causes confusion for newcomers as to which is the newest version.

Try this much newer version. (http://www.dcemu.co.uk/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=83016)

Download from the attachment in the first post, or directly from here (http://nekomimi.cafe.coocan.jp/dev/PSPTube/PSPTube20071229c.zip).

Get a developer ID for the API here (http://www.youtube.com/dev) and insert it after "dev_id=""" in the configuration file.

You need Custom Firmware, you're on official firmware. Find out what version it is by going to System Settings>System Information, then read up on how to downgrade it, so you can then upgrade it to CF.

So I'm kind of new to this whole adding things to my PSP thing, and I wanted to add PSPTube but am having some troubles with it. I downloaded the file and opened the psptube.cfg file with notepad and added the developer id in the right place but now I don't know where on my psp to put it. I looked for the "GAME3XX" folder but couldn't find it. The closest thing to it was a folder called "GAME."

I would really appreciated it if I could get some help, maybe more detailed instructions and where/how to find that folder, etc. Thanks in advance!

Find out what firmware version you've already got by looking on your PSP in System Settings > System Information. Once you've done that, see here (http://www.psp-vault.com/images/guides/firmware_changeability_chart_v371.png) to find which method you'll need to use. Then it's just a case of searching the forums for the tutorial to do so.

I've kept with PSPtube since it was first found and reported on DCEMU (Actually, I found it just a bit before that.) But I've been out of the update loop for the past few versions. I believe I'm using the 20080308 version? I'm just a little lost at trying to maneuver through the menus if someone could explain for me, please?

Triangle pops up a menu showing Site... OpenURL...NetStatus, Add to playlist, Play playlist and etc. Using O it seems i can conduct a search, but all search results are in (Hira-kana?) japanese. All video I click seem to have no video, but properly play the audio and show time at the bottom. Would anyone be able to help me?

Works perfectly on 3.9 m33-2 longer videos you have to wait about 15 seconds before it starts buffering but might just be my connection. For ppl it doesn't work for I think they are just putting in their youtube account name and not gettting a developer ID look under your account settings. I have a PSP-2001 by the way.

You're on Sony's official 3.03 firmware, meaning you can't use this until you get onto a custom firmware by a series of downgrading and then upgrading. I believe you can manage that by either using a Pandoras Battery & Magic Memory Stick or the Lumines exploit. Google either to find out more.

Ok guys,I was searching and reading forums around the web and I found this neat application.

This let's you play and watch the videos directly from the YouTube (http://youtube.com) website, you don't have to download and convert FLV files or anything.

Installation:

- Download and unzip the file attached here.
- Choose the folder corresponding to your PSP's firmware version.
Example:
* 100 for firmware 1.00, 150 for 1.50 and 200over for custom firmwares.
- Copy the PSPTube folder to the GAME3XX folder.
- Create an account here (http://youtube.com/dev).
- Open the psptube.cfg file with a Text Editor.
- Find the ev_id = "ABCDEFGHIJK" dev_id = "" text in the file and insert your account information there.
- Set your Game kernel mode to 352.
- Start the application from the main menu and select an internet connection with the O button.
*Note: It'll show as "No Videos",just press O to search for the videos.*

You Can't add sites to the search but the closest thing to that is adding a video URL to watch.

BTW theres a bug when you try to access the 3rd page of videos for any search on youtube.

AND you can download videos on the modded version.

so i did everything except the kernel stuff. i have 3.9 M33 CFW but the only folders in the PSP folder (that relate to this) are Game, Game 150, and Game 371. what exactly does changing the kernel mean? sorry, im new at this =/. but i did add the PSPtube files into the 371 folder but i couldnt find the psp launch logo anywhere.

Is there a way to search for videos, or do you always need the link?

I'm most curious what is the most stable version of PSP Tube right now, I'm confused in what version/unofficial version is best to use. Cause I'm hearing the current version is having search issues. And I hear that the unofficial version crashes if it loads more than 20 results on the page. Does anyone know if there is a good stable version like there used to be?

Hi, i'm a beginner and i don't really know anything about the psp. Seriously, i don't. I've been lurking around here as well as other places to figure out how to set up my psp for psptube and i've ended up really confused. I'd really appreciate it if one of you helped me on this.

At the moment, my psp is 3.80 and i need it to be 3.80 m33 so i can use psptube, but that's the thing. I don't know how. When i try to install 3.80m33, the psp says i already have it, and when i try anything else, it says "The game could not be started. (80020128)." I also found that you should downgrade and in order to do that, you have to mess around with your battery or something. (Pandora's box?) I'm also having trouble accessing the Recovery mode to configure the kernel thing. Turn off psp and then turn it on while holding R? Yeah, that's not working for me.

Thanks in advance.

yea, thats great, it worked out perfectly well.

I have discovered where and how to find psp emulator to enhance psp functionality on www.playstationportal.blogspot.com
Read on,
There has been much talk about PSP emulators and the like. Such emulators allow you to play and test PSP games and software on the PC. Of course, they are a closely guarded secret and available only to designated, licensed developers approved by Sony.

Of course, it cannot be expected that Sony will release this official emulator to the general public.

For one, it is likely to contain protected code that hackers might be able to reverse engineer and result in a higher probability of games and protected hardware being "cracked".

Luckily, the PSPe has been released. This is the first known emulator of the PSP available for the PC. It only plays homebrew games and no commercial titles can be played on it. This is a very early release as denoted by its version number, 0.7. When a version number is less than one, this usually denotes that it is far from the finished product but has been brought to the public early so that they can at least test what functionality there is -- the product need not be perfect before release. Due to this the performance of this PSP emulator is quite poor -- the speed of the games is not optimum.

Games can be played on the PSPe by simply dragging and dropping into a subfolder and then this will appear in the emulator itself. Currently, there is no gamepad support and games can only be played with the keyboard.

Homebrew games are those which have been coded or created by home enthusiasts. Lacking the resources of commercial giants like Sony and their developers, these are usually much more simple and short than their commercially available counterparts. Nevertheless, they can still be a lot of fun, whether played on the PSP itself or on a PSP emulator.

There is also another PSP emulator available although this instead plays SNES or Super NES games on the PSP. Snes9x has been a leading SNES emulator for the PC for many years and recently they have created a version for use on the PSP. Again, this has been released early and has a version number of 0.02. Again, due to this, the performance of this PSP emulator is a little slow compared to what you might be used to.

Sometimes, people will resort to a PSP emulator such as Snes9x because they lack enough good games on their PSP. Instead of buying commercial titles from the store at a high per game cost, one alternative is to enlist the services of a dedicated PSP download site. These sites offer the latest games as well as music, movies and wallpapers -- all encoded especially for the PSP. These sites are also guaranteed to be free from spyware and viruses and technical support is available, http://www.playstationportal.blogspot.com

Hold down the right shoulder button and then turn on your PSP from cold (NOT from standby/sleep mode). The recovery menu will appear. Go to Configuration and in the Game Folder Homebrew option, you can change what kernel is being used between the 3.xx (4.xx if you have CFW M33 4.01) and the old 1.50 version.

Example:
* 100 for firmware 1.00, 150 for 1.50 and 200over for custom firmwares.
- Enjoy!

Controls:
Start Button - Play/Pause
O - Select/Enter
X - Go back to Results
L Trigger - Go to the Previous Results page
R Trigger - Go to the Next Results page
Select Button - Change Screen size
