via engadget (http://www.engadget.com/2007/08/11/kid-saves-dads-life-kid-wants-ps3-in-return/)

On the surface, a PlayStation 3 doesn't seem like too much to give a person for saving your life, but when the request comes from the little man to whom you (in one way or another) gave life, things aren't so clear. Reportedly, the nine-year old Matty Lovo came the rescue and saved his pop's life by calling for help after his father passed out behind the wheel of his tractor-trailer. In an interview with CNN, the youngster didn't hesitate to label himself a hero, and moreover, wasn't shy about stating that a shiny new PS3 seemed like a fair reward for such a saintly act. Sheesh, talk about demanding.

Hmm, yes...very demanding to wish for a Playstation 3 as a reward. A bit extravagant, if you ask me.

He's genious. He later can sell his PS3, buy a 360 and a Wii and then say goodbye to commercial failures.

Saving a mans life should be enough of a reward for a kid. I would not demand anything if I saved a life the proudness would be better than any reward.

little scrot, I would slap him.

He will probably create a very succesful career and earn lots of money with this attitude.

I think the talent scouts are keeping an eye on him.

That kid needs a good kick in the ass. Whatever happened to the concept of the humble hero? The kid did not do that much, anyway.

just for being pompous, he should get nothing. maybe that will teach him how to be more civilized.

this 9 year old wants a ps3, this 13 year old (http://www.deeko.com/news/?p=3697) really doesn't

Thats rather sad. I would be honored to have saved my dad's life and no reward would be as important or meaningful than the reward that my dad would still be alive.

Granted the kid is 9 but damn...

Either the kid is ignorant of real life (which most kids his age are) or he is a total douche.

He may not realize the repercussions of having "saved his father's life". Hell he may not have even known he did anything exemplary until the paramedics came by or the hospital staff later told him he was a hero.

Who knows what he was thinking when he did it. However, regardless of that, he is still a douche for having asked for a reward at all.

If I were his father, I'd tell him, "Imagine what life for you would be like if you hadn't called for help and I died. Then imagine how your life is better because you did what you did. Now, do you really want that PS3?"

Seriously, "Hey dad I saved you life, so you should FEEL OBLIGATED to buy me a PS3 which is $500."

Its like the kid saying:

"I saved your life so I EXPECT you to reward me."

Sheesh...

And then call up the hospital, saving his life. Then demand a PS3 from him in return.

Good for you man. I should kick the damned habit myself... But that is entirely different. Did you ask for the PS3?

What this kid did would be like the fire department rescuing you from your burning home, then handing you a bill.
