Within the next week or so im going to post an article detailing the very best releases so far in every scene and this is where the whole DCEmu Community comes in, i want to compile the very best releases for each scene.

It doesnt matter if the release is a Game, Emulator, Demo or application/hack. If you are submitting what you consider the best please post a mini review and any details such as homepage and release date/ screenshots.

With that in Mind please post your top 5 releases for the Nintendo DS Scene.

NitroHax :D
And Comic Book DS, although lately, I haven't been using it any more...
I'd include Lameboy, but that's an emulator... Would it count as homebrew?

Lemme list'em. :P

Lameboy. Really nice to be able to play my GB/C games, even as back-ups.
NesDS by Loopy has its merits, although I dislike that it defaults A and B to Y and B and you can't save the GUI selections.
NitroHax... :3
ComicBooks DS.

::Xraxa, plz:.

The artistic style is very nice and the puzzles have the right blend of confusion and intelligence.

PuzzleManiak
http://www.puzzlemaniak.com/blog/index.php

Puzzle Maniak has a very, very high production value along with good puzzles. It is closer to a complete game than many games in the commercial market.

Arcomage
http://www.vicman.net/lib/arcomage.htm

Arcomage is a fun game where you destroy another player’s tower by casting spells from a deck of cards ala Magic: The Gathering. The graphics are decent and the spells are interesting.

Dice Soldiers
http://www.playeradvance.org/forum/showthread.php?t=6645

Dice Soldiers is a very simple Risk-like game that has just as simple graphics. However, it is the first game I downloaded that made me realize that the DS scene is alive so I thought I should list it.

Ninji and Zarbi
http://ds.qj.net/tags/ninji-and-zarbi/10283

Ninji and Zarbi is a game where you control two characters simultaneously. One is on the top screen and the other is on the bottom. You have to avoid enemies on both screens at the same time. Although that is all there is to the game (only one screen), it is the most original game play I have seen in the DS scene and a lot of the commercial scene.

DSOrganize: a great homebrew: It is the first homebrew app to have images apart from links in DSlinux, but links was slow. this is a lot faster and is nice to use. The app also include muti-channel IRC and its own homebrew database which allows you to download homebrew straight to your ds.

It also has apps like paint, calculator, adress book and calender.

NOTE: This app can also play streaming files such as .pls, ogg and m3u.

seems some people find it hard to count to five...

it's really hard to limit oneself to just five titles, since the library is so rich and diverse, but i'll try anyways.

- Meteora Evolution
- PuzzleManiak
- Lemmings DS
- AmplituDS
- Warcraft Tower Defense

Lameboy
NesDS
NitroHax

Moonshell

I'll be hard to keep it down to 5, but here goes. This doesn't include ports, but it does include clones.

DS Organize
AmplituDS (my second and current homebrew addiction)
Warcraft: Tower Defense (my first homebrew addiction)
Meteora
Colors

Bah, I've got more that are just as good, I'll list them anyway.

Blubb 3D
Worms War Online
Dice Soldiers (DiceWars needs to fix online before I consider it better)
Deal or No Deal
World of Sand
Explosive Gas
PuzzleManiak
Ka-Boom
DrugWars
DSVNC

I can stop at 15, but I could probably go beyond 30 for homebrew that I think is very well-made (I have close to 200).

Here's my top 5 favorite ports.

QuakeDS
DS Doom + Chex Quest DS
DScent
Wolfenstein 3D
Sopwith

Moonshell - The killer app of DS homebrew.

Lemmings DS - hands-down the best homebrew game for the DS

Wolfenstein 3D DS - the second best homebrew game for the DS - still needs an upgrade to allow commercial version data

Reinmoon - Savegame backups are good.

SNEmulDS - It still needs some optimization, but it's already by far the best SNES emulator on the DS; nothing else even comes close.

I don't think any of the homebrew games are good. You'd have to be a hardcore fan of puzzles/shooters to like playing those. Anyway, I took this from my website.

1. Blubb3d
2. AirHockey
3. PlayDisMusic
4. NoPlaceToHide
5. DSSports
6. EuroTunnel
7. WrightFlight

10. GameBoxDS

3. Doom
4. Duke3DS
5. Lockjaw

ScummVMDS - I'm really surprised this hasn't been mentioned more. Not only does it let you play all the great Scumm games on your DS, but the code is being worked on and updated all the time by AgentQ.

CrocoDS - Amstrad emulator for the DS, it'd be nice if it was still being worked on, but anything that lets me play Wild Bunch on the bus has to be loved.

DS-Frotz - Okay, this isn't perfect but I love the idea of playing text adventures on the DS.

DSOrganize - Again, it's always being worked on and updated, and it's great. Makes my DS so useful!

Lemmings DS - Fantastic port of a great game onto pretty much an ideal platform for it.

There are more I like, but those are my hands down favourites.

Lameboy because it flawlessly runs my favorite Gameboy Color games.

SNEmulDS because it's a freaking SNES Emulator, what else needs to be said? lol

Moonshell because it opened up Media Playback onto the DS

DSOrganize because well...it just freaking rocks! It's the must have homebrew.

Not much love here for UK-oriented emulation, but I'd say SpeccyDS is one of the best emulators for DS, with CrocoDS also worthy of note.

DSOrganise (awesome - go on DM, add video :o)
DSpec (speccy emulator - fantastic)
DSMidi Wifi (great fun - could be more stable, and I wish the Wifi lib would work with hidden SSID)
Axe (great if I can't sleep - wish it was updated)
LameboyDS

I've just downloaded a bunch of stuff recommended in this thread, so maybe my list will change over time...

So hard to pick just 5 though. A huge thanks to ANYONE who makes homebrew for the DS. Your efforts are welcomed.

Just to complete a list of 5:
- NitroTrackar (create music like the old school tracker programs)
- Moonshell (watch pix, play music , skinnable)
- DSFTP (not stable / fast at all, but it is a great sollution for transfering files back and forth)
- Comic Book DS (watch comics on DS)

it's good to see people name the same homebrew over and over again (sarcasm)
lol jk i added my top 5 homebrew that no one named here (at least i think)
- DS2Key/DSPad -> Use your NDS as a wireless game controller for XP
- Nibbles -> Snake game (more fun than you think - it's touch screen control)
- Pictoblog -> It's amazing....Post to wordpress via DS? its crazy....but works (it posts png pic of what you draw not text)
- NDSMail -> You gotta love this. Checking your mail on DS is the main reason i have a DS (Not really, but it's a plus)
- AMAP4DS -> Subway map. It's alot more useful than you think. Helped me a couple of times.

Don't you just love the homebrew scene?

1. Moonshell - it freakin rocks, no real explanation needed if u even have just a littoe bit of homebrew knowledge.

2. DSOrganise - like moonshell, it just freakin rocks. real handy for deleting files on ur mem card without plugging it into a pc.

3. SnemulDS - my Snes emulator of choice. plays classics like super metroid, zelda a link to the past and super mario world.

4. A Touch of War - First homebrew game that i played and still one of the best. a very excellent rts game. a lot like age of empires. aoe portable, whats not to like?

5. GeoWars - Damn this game is addicting. a Geometry Wars clone but rocks. integrated with touch screen functionality and 10 missions and levels. very fun, but too short.

also, i find world of sand a very fun gadget.

SnemulDS definately. Play these amazing SNES titles is wonderful, one of the best machines ever.
