Have you tested it?
I do not think you can do that.

PSP has to detect the presence (insertion) of the headphone plug in order to output through the serial port.

If such plug is detected, sound is passed to the headphone.

So you cannot have both - serial output and sound out through PSP speaker.

I cut the head of plug .

And it's possible to use the psp speakers with a gps .

Hmmm cutting the tip off seams a bit harsh, wouldnt it be easier just to disable it by desolder the cable at the base ??

keep in disconnected mode, A -a (B-b).
but not the wires.

Well, if you want to refrain from violence you can try sealing the tip with nail polish or some clearcoat or another. It either works or it doesn't, acetone reverses the situation either way.

Im not an evil genious :D but i think i can remember my electronics, and im still confused and beleve that if you desolder the a2 at the base that would be the same as "cutting it off"...

http://www.vampire.se/misc/psp/misc/headphoneconnector2.jpg

A goes to a + a2 further up = Left
B goes to b = Right
C goes to c = Ground

Disconnecting the wire from a2 disables both A + a on the connector leaving B+b and C+c intact.
B for Right channel sound and C for Ground.

Or did i get to little sleep last night too :o

Hi PDG,
This is not an electronic switch, but a mechanical switches.
There is a machanical switch at A for PSP speaker.
So it's no use that you cut the cable.

you need to cut the "a", and the stick would be shorter. After that, it can't touch the swich, so PSP speaker could work then....

Oooh i see it just had to be just that then *Lol*
Well well, then im buying spare parts and build my own cable, no way im cutting a perfectly good cable and ruin it ;)

But how does the factory made cables Deniska posted a link to with a Speaker out work then??

This amazes me because their tips arent cut.

^^^^ Yes, I would like to know, also. I noticed the cable in the picture provided by Mr.7 is different from pc-mobile.net.

Will we be able to do this on the cable from pc-mobile.net, also? Want to make sure before I cut anything.

Wait. I didn't understand what you said. So it will work with the cable from pc-mobile? A yes or no will be a good enough answer for me.

It is not a yes or no. It is a "IF".

If you cut the tip, yes the sound will come out of PSP speaker.

If you do not cut the tip, you can hear sound by connecting a headphone, or external speakers or hi-fi or car radio through the speaker pass through.

Well if it outputs sound via this cable without cutting i dont se the fuzz :)

Connecting the Cable to the PSP and from the Cable to and adaptor and from the adaptor to a
RCA lead to a Stereo :)

If this would work i wouldnt complaign :)
The PSPs speakers would be muted but if you can build a little box allowing you to connect 2x RCA cables and adjust the PSPs gain trough a potentiometer "Volume knob" you could combine both Stereo sound and GPS sound ;)

i think that a box with 4x RCA connectors on one end 2x Right and 2x Left with one of the RCA channels going trough a volume knob and coming out in a 2x RCA (Combined Right from both devices to 1x RCA Right and likewise on the left channel resulting in a 1xRCA Left so youll end up with a RCA Left and Right output :)

This way you could control the ammount of volume the PSP outputs and combine the PSP sound via the Phone out to your Carstereo speeker if it has a Line In function or if you want to hear both PSP + Stereo sound and you have a Amplifier you just connect this box to it ;)

I just ordered this from http://www.pc-mobile.net/pspgps.htm:
1x - GHPSP - Holux GPSlim 236/240 cable for PSP
1x - PSPUE1 - Ready made DIY Mini-USB Extension cable for PSP
1x - Remote/serial/headphone plug ( 2.pcs in the package )

Hopefully ill get my hands on a Holux M1000 or a GPSlim236

If you are using a Holux, why would you order the extension cable? It is for use only with PSP-290.

sharing a little more details would probably move you closer to the answer, as not all forum members have the ability to guess your particular hw/sw setup.
Could that be that you cut too much? ;-)
