i have a 30GB ipod video and want to know how to tell if it is 5g or 5.5


any help much appreciated

if you just bought it then it should be 5.5 generation

is ipod linux on ur mind or something?

i think 5 g is 30 and 60 GB, 5.5 is 80GB

NOPE! DEAD WRONG MY FRIEND! lol, i have an Apple iPod 30GB 5.5 generation. heres a quote from iPod linux forums (as usual I am carlitx on these forums this was a reply when i was trying to install linux on my iPod(and thnx to them i now have it :D)):


does ur ipod have search function in the music section? if so, its a 5.5g and u need a different installer, or if u want, theres a tutorial by zacaj to manually install linux onto 5.5g ipods.


and there you have it folks once again i reign supreme and right! XD I'm so full of myself sometimes.

it doesnt seem to have a search function, where would it be located exactly?under extras?

before i had a psp i installed ipod linux to play gameboy on my nano.

oh btw ipod linux is available on all versions of ipod from 1g to 5.5
