Earlier this week Nintendo announced that it's bringing its Wii U social network Miiverseonto the 3DS in December (http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2013-11-13-miiverse-cross-platform-account-system-headed-to-3ds). Unfortunately, it's just been revealed that the 3DS implementation of the service won't allows private messages or friend requests.A Nintendo rep confirmed the omitted features in a comment to NintendoLife (http://www.nintendolife.com/news/2013/11/nintendo_confirms_that_miiverse_on_3ds_wont_allow_ friend_requests_or_user_messaging), bluntly stating: "Miiverse on Nintendo 3DS does not include friend request or user messaging features."Ostensibly this is because the 3DS already has its own variant of these features with its Friend Code system used for adding mates, while messages/pictures can be sent to your pals via SwapNote.Still, players will be able to use the Miiverse to consolidate their eShop balances between both Nintendo platforms' digital storefronts, and they'll be able to leave comments and drawings about a particular game in the Miiverse's bulletin-board like setup. There's no telling if the missing features will be added at a later date, but we're looking into it.http://images.eurogamer.net/2013/articles/1/6/3/3/4/5/6/138454365282.png/EG11/resize/600x-1/quality/80

Weird movement since the SwapNote feature was limited already. The filtering should be from the user not the company. Nintendo should not be worried to bad judgment of unsupervised children browsing and adding complete strangers; this is all about privacy again but people do not see the advantage of privacy or do not see that posting (in this case) their Friend Code online and public is allowing everyone to send whatever they want to send.
