A new homebrew project is underway, and anybody who is anybody should know about it. It's called Homebrew Network, and it's being developed by some of our most dedicated members here at PSP-Vault.
---------------------------------------------------------
A quick run-down on the project...
What is it?
Homebrew Network is a completely original idea, developed by members here at PSP-Vault and over at PSU. Often called the "7th icon" while being developed, it will be a new icon added to the XMB, separate from the Settings, Photo, Music, Game, and Network. Through this icon, you will be able to access a media store (think PlayStation Store), PSP-Vault, direct downloads, etc.
How did the idea come up?
The project was original called "PAiN", which stood for "Playstation+Apple Intergrated Nework". It was going to be an iPod-related shell, but obviously has since gone in a different direction.
Who's behind the project?
Team HBN (http://hbnetwork.spruz.com/main.asp?page=dp&dis=732217) currently consists of the following members:
carboycam (PSP Vault)
hakk3r (PSP-Vault)
TEM94 (PSU)
EXTREME_PSP (PSU)
How long before we'll see it up?
EXTREME_PSP has been in contact with me, and anticipates completion between the beginning and middle of September, depending on how smoothly development goes, and the help they can get.
----------------------------------------------------------------
One of the most exciting features of this project, besides the rapid development, is that it will be a PSP-Vault exclusive (http://psp-vault.com). I was talking to a couple of the developers as they were thinking of making it an M33 exclusive, and they eventually decided PSP-Vault would be a better decision.
If we can get the File Vault on the mobile version of the website, we can hopefully look to give direct downloads (demos, firmware updates, homebrew games, wallpapers, etc.) to thousands of PSP users. There's certainly a lot of potential in this Homebrew Network.
EXTREME_PSP did ask that I put out a request for those who are experienced PRX editors. If you think you could help, make sure you sign-up to become a member (http://www.psp-vault.com/UserReg.psp), and then head over to the Homebrew Network thread (http://www.psp-vault.com/module-pnForum-viewtopic-topic-9664-start-0.psp).
