Users who suddenly found themselves unable to log into PSN last night have been told that Sony has reset their passwords.

The problem, however, is that Sony failed to notify affected users, leaving them unable to access their accounts.
"We monitor PSN account[s] for any irregular activity. If such activity is detected we will sometimes reset passwords," a spokesperson explained. "This was done purely as precautionary measure and there was no specific evidence that any accounts had be compromised. There is nothing specific to worry about."
The rep added that "only a small number of users were affected” by the move.
