Microsoft is compensating those with a defective Xbox One console with a free game.
Reports emerged over the weekend of disc drive problems (http://www.mcvuk.com/news/read/now-xbox-one-gets-its-own-launch-fault/0124855)in some units. Polygon (http://www.polygon.com/2013/11/25/5145620/xbox-one-owners-with-hardware-issues-get-complimentary-game) reports that upon contacting Microsoft affected customers are being offered a free download of either Dead Rising 3, Forza 5, Ryse or Zoo Tycoon.
"While a replacement console is on its way, we want to ensure our advance exchange customers can stay in the game," the company said. "We will provide each of them with a free digital download of one of the launch titles published by Microsoft Studios."
Microsoft maintains that the issues are only affecting “a very small number of customers”.
