Hello all

I have updated "Modo", a mod player (and more) for the PSP.
This is the version from September 3 (release 5).

The list of changes are:

embedded Blarggs' Game Music Emulation library. This enables support for:

SPC (Snes)
GYM & VGMz (Sega Master System / Sega Genesis aka Mega Drive / some derivats)
GBS (Gameboy)
NSF & NSFe (Nes)
AY (Spectrum / Amstrad CPC)
SAP (Atari XL)
Mini-Playlist support, choose which subsongs you want hear for a multisong file (sid, nsf, ay etc.). Please see Readme.txt for details.

i havent had a chance to test out this latest release yet, but i would like to say thanks for all the great work in adding extra support (great to see AY3 added) and in actually listening to users regarding getting playback for less-common formats (like MED) working.

wbb: if you like, i have a complete command list for Octamed / MED files, from the last amiga version (Soundstudio) somewhere - i can send this to you if you think it will help with those tweeks you added before?

Great Work!
Ive tested with SPC & VGZ (Ziped VGMs files from a game) and it works perfect!!!
It doesnt shows the files (VGZ) within the folder but it can detect and playback nicely.
Here are a lot of VGZ music:

Can you add support for MiniPSF - Playstation 1 sound files?

here are a lot of PSF sounds:

Great release!!! I cannot see or choose any files but they do play. Ah, .sid sounds perfect so far :)

The directory browser does not show individual files, it shows only directories and the number of songs it found in there. It just plays then all songs in the directory you select. This approach I used to keep things simple and not to flood browser with single files. On a portable device I think it should be as easy as possible, and I didn't wanted overloaded menu with playlist creation etc.

For PSF playback I have not yet found a nice library, doing myself from scratch is something I am not capable off [at least within the next 100 years ;)].

@horace
While doing the tweaks a while ago, I found also on old Amiga disk a command overview which served as a reference. Please send me the file so I can compare

It is really killer, I like, I like! Please overload menu with playlist creation :) Would be cool to able to choose whether to repeat playlist or not too.

You rock!

It looks I have to overload, in another forum that was also requested.

I' am going to add that individual files are shown _below_ the directories. With triangle you can mark directories and files which are in current directory. Pressing Circle loops all selected files and files in selected directories.

I know that is not 100% what ppl want, still too limited if compared to other players.

wbb - this zip contains 3 screengrabs of the Octamed Soundstudio documentation.

im afraid i havent had time to rip the text properly, as it's in amiga guide format. You will notice the 3rd set of commands is only for the "mix mode" MMD2 modules i mentioned before (which use full octave range, stereo panning etc etc) - whilst the rest are for general Octamed playback.

hope it helps :)

I have a couple of sugestions for Modo:

1- Support for the remote control to change tracks + play/pause

2- What about a cache of the numbers of modules in each folder, having a lot of music and changing folders is so slow.

And again, congratulations for MODO, it is a great app!!!!

Thx for the files. I know one or two problems not solved yet for MED but thats should be very rare cases (I hope).

So far I added since Sep 3

* remote control support
* browser shows individual files + limited playlist support
* directory cache (remembers for ~1000 directories the module count, gets lost on program exit)
* you can choose initial directory after first start (via config file)
