As good as it looks, Apple’s tech may find it hard to make happen.
An Apple fan (http://www.behance.net/gallery/iPhone-6-%28concept%29/12245003) has put together an interesting take on how the iPhone could look with a wrap around screen.
The concept comes just after rumours that Samsung have been working on a three-sided display, which is said would be an improvement on the Youm technology used in its curved screen phone, the Galaxy Round. (http://www.mobile-ent.biz/news/read/video-samsung-galaxy-round-world-s-first-curved-display-smartphone/022531http://www.mobile-ent.biz/news/read/video-samsung-galaxy-round-world-s-first-curved-display-smartphone/022531)
The new iPhone 6 concept looks to be based on the iPhone 5 model. The display is wrapped around the sides, with touch screen controls instead of the usual volume buttons – including shortcuts to a torch, alarm clock and calculator.
The glaring issue with this is that Apple uses these parts of the phone for its antennas.
The company has previously experienced issues with its signal when the iPhone4 and 4s were released (http://www.mobile-ent.biz/news/read/apple-admits-chinese-iphone-4s-issues/016956), and it has taken them some time to perfect the technology.
So this new hurdle could prove to be problematic when figuring out how to reposition the antennas.
