Just got my holux 240 cable and....

I got my holux 240 about a week and a half ago, and i just got the cable for it today! I want the sound from mapthis to go out from the speakers not the audio cable on the holux cable. Do i just cut the tip off?? And with what??? And does cutting the tip off affect the functionality of mapthis at all??
