Kristof has released 3 emulators for us lucky PSP Owners, an update of the Commordore 64 PSP Vice, A Commodore Plus 4 Emulator and a VIC20 Emulator, his newspost in full below :)

Hi

Due to popular demands, I've updated PSPVice.

The new version is there :

http://perso.numericable.fr/~ckckck/C64_PSPVice.html

V1.1 : (Aug 07)

What's new :

- Stereo effect on sound output (I like this effect)

- Subdirectories support. User can now browse any directory of the memory stick.

- Update to latest VICE version (1.22)

- Add autofire option. Two speeds available.

- VIC20 standalone version.

- PLUS4 standalone version.

- "Shifted" keyboard GFX added (thank to Shabanak)

- Small speed improvment (unfortunatly still not enough for some few games like Cauldron2).

- PSP icons are hidden now ( __SCE__ method ).

- Welcome text at load time (instead of black screen)

- New menus organisation

Bug fixed :

- .NFO Comments fully displayed.

- Fixed "RESTORE key works only once" bug. (from VICE core team)

- Fixed crash when using game files with very long file names.

- Disk files can be saved, but this need to be done manually (by detaching disk). Menu is now more clear and doc on web page describes how to save disks (the feature was in PSPVice1.0).

- P00 files can be launched now.

What is still not working :

- Mouse emulation

- Plus4 and Vic20 are rough ports. Need more polishing.

I'm also updating PS2VICE to support same options as PSPVICE. Write me if you are interested in that version.

Have fun

These are so old systems, that the update time scale is very relative.

One update per year is nice :)

Any chance of HDD or USB support on PS2VICE?

Awesome, finally a VIC-20 emulator, this was my first computer, so it's great to have a portable version on my PSP.

Unfortunately the keyboard mapping seems to be borked at the moment, which makes many games unplayable.

Also loading tape images seems to take as long, if not longer, than on a real VIC-20 :)

I'm sure these things will be fixed in upcoming versions though, so I'm still very happy with this port.

I just fixed the keyboard problem.

The keyboard mapping file was correctly using VIC-20 settings (in the c64 vice version as well???), but the emulator was expecting the c64 matrix positions (for the VIC-20 emulator) for some reason.

Anyway, I redid the keyboard mapping file, get the attachment and throw it into the __SCE__PSPVIC20\PSPViceDatas\vic20sys\ dir.

Thank you for this new Version :)

I just tried it playing my favourite game, Giana Sisters and i noticed something:
As the previous release, the game runs somehow choppy and the scrolling doesn't look good at all.
But then i switched to NTSC and the game ran very very smooth. Of course, it runs too fast, but the scrolling is way better.

So is there maybe a synchronization issue in PAL mode? Like 60 frames are drawn, but the screen refresh rate is just 50 or the other way around?
For me it looks like, as the choppyness doesn't seem to be a cpu-power problem. Otherwise the NTSC must be coppy too, right?

Hello,

I would like to know if there's some news about a new version of PS2VICE ?
Actually the 1541 is not full supported : multi-part game and fastloader are not supported. It would be nice if it could be fixed.
Thanks.

Hi guys.

Just hoping for a bit of help.

I've just updated to a PSP Slim & Lite. I am running Custom Firmware M33 3.71-3.

I've downloaded and am running the newest versions of DGEN, SNES9x and Castaway.

I've tried the same with PSPVice 1.1 but the app doesn't want to run. I've tried putting the 2 folders ( __ and %__ folders) into \PSP\GAME, \PSP\GAME150 and \PSP\GAME371 (not at the same time ;) ) and no matter where it is the icon/thumbnail comes up OK in the XMD (under Games\MC) but when I try to launch it I get the "The game could not be started. (8002014C)" message.

Is there something I'm not doing right when installing/copying it onto my Memory Stick, or does it not work (yet) on a Slim with 3.xx M33 Custom Firmware (no 1.50 kernel)?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Rodda - (Aussie).

If you want to get PSPVICE working on a slim do this.

Get eLoader v1.000 and copy the files to your GAME folder.

Get PSPVice v1.0 and copy the two folders to your GAME folder.

Then run eLoader and select pspvice and your psp is now a c64.

PSPVice v1.1 wont work, you need v1.0

Thanks Marty/MartyPSP - that was exactly what I needed to hear (see), and I too can confirm that it works well.

I was devestated to learn, after I got my Slim, that some homebrew apps might struggle to run, and VICE is pretty important to me (I too have a rich history with the C64).

You're a champ mate.

Hi,

I have compiled PSPVICE V1.1 for the slim.

All thanks should go to Christophe and the VICE team.
I did not change any code, just compiled it for the slim.

Good job martypsp.
I just discovered by chance that you've recompiled PSPVice.

Unfortunatly I'm not monitoring that forum (and no other PSP forum) so I missed all messages.

PSPVic20: I do not plan any update of the menu because I do not use that port and very few people asking for updates. If you like to correct the keyboard mapping, do it. I can recompile and release a new version if needed.

PS2Vice: Too long task for me (I'm not used on PS2 amateur programming). Someone tried to make the port but it is slow. Maybe one day...

PSPVice: I'm currently making an update to support the whole gamebase64 database (20 000 games with infos and screenshots). Will be released soon.

If you want the slim updated to be in, just mail me what to add in code (or which SDK to use to recompile). (I do not own a Slim).

For any requests, please mail me :

This is one of my favourite apps on the PSP! Thank you for you work on this great emulator.

But I can't seem to get Recompresstool running properly,
as every file seems to fail somehow:

I copy/pasted the errors below:

------------------------------------------------------------------------
S:\pspvicegb>recompressdirs games\ screenshots\
----------------------------------------------
Parsing dir 0
---- Processing 0013_11630_01.zip ----
1 file(s) copied.

7-Zip 4.57 Copyright (c) 1999-2007 Igor Pavlov 2007-12-06

Processing archive: 1.zip

Error: Can not open file as archive

Could Not Find S:\pspvicegb\tempgames\version.nfo
The filename, directory name, or volume label syntax is incorrect.
------------------------------------------------------------------------

etc.

Any ideas? It gives empty folders at most.

Thanks!
