Christmas dinner in a tin. That’s apparently what GAME could shortly be selling in its stores.
It’s called the Christmas Tinner and consists of nine layers of processed festive food, as demonstrated in the picture below. Apparently the chain has actually trialled this product in its Basingstoke store and is considering a national rollout “if there is enough gamer demand”.
How said “demand” will be measured remains unspecified. Although we do know that it will cost £1.99 per tin if it comes to fruition.
The justification for this lunacy? According to GAME: “According to new research almost half (43 per cent) of the nation’s gamers plan to spend the majority of Christmas day playing on their new consoles and games.
“That’s why retailer GAME has developed the Christmas Tinner, enabling gamers to get their teeth into GAME play all day without having to miss out on a mouthful of their favourite food or do the washing-up.”

A “without sprouts” variant is available for those who dislike brussel sprouts. But like the idea of an entire Christmas dinner in a tin.
“This Christmas is set to be an epic one for gaming, especially as households all over the UK wake up to a new PS4 or Xbox One console under the Christmas tree,” Game Retail marketing director Ailsa McKnight said.
“And for those who can’t wait to get stuck into their latest goodies, the Christmas Tinner is our gifting solution combining the best of both worlds: so gamers can feast on the latest releases and the finest food at the same time.”
Christmas Tinner creator Chris Godfrey, a design student, added: “I tried to ensure when creating the menu that all the flavours complemented one another and it was designed so that gamers can eat one layer at a time, starting with breakfast and finishing off with Christmas Pudding – the perfect Christmas Day meal without any of the fuss.”
To be fair, we’d definitely give it a go.
