A GameFAQs user named Kudaku has found a secret cinematic which is shown in the new game Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII if you beat it twice. The video shows the same Final Fantasy VII intro which was shown a couple of years ago at E3, and at the end says "to be continued in Final Fantasy VII". Square Enix has denied a remake earlier, but has also said it might happen. So whether or not to trust this easter egg is uncertain, and it's not even known if it will be for the PSP or the PS3. We'll just have to wait for an official statement from the company.
Attached is a zip file with 14 screenshots.
What are your thoughts?

I've never really played Final Fantasy before and I was curious wether or not the story makes any sense what so ever on it's own.

I'm still sure that SE is full of it when they say NO to a FF7 remake... I mean they have become greedy sob's and better way to satisfy your greed than making a game that will SURELY sell consoles on its own? I say YES there is a remake, i don't have an ETA or even the console it'll be on.. But its coming

As much as I would love a FF VII remake, my skeptical side tends to agree with jools. Fingers crossed though!

This just means that the story is continued in FFVII (this IS a prequel after all).
When the PS1 version of FFVII is available to download for PSP/popstation you can play it then.
No remake.

I'm a huge fan of FF7 which is why I do NOT want to see a remake.
One thing I'm noticing in the recent releases is the loss of the style which was developed in the original, I think a remake would evolve the franchise too far, the original is needed to remind people how this compilation came to be.

I don't have any next gen consoles yet, if this is true, then the PS3 will be lots more appealing.

I think there will be a remake or maybe even some sort of story which goes along side the original... (like in resident evil remake for the gamecube). I think this because in order to unlock those extra words you have to beat the game TWICE. I mean... why would someone go into all that trouble to unlock a message which is stating the obvious?
Remake here we come....

I think that screen only means that the STORY CONTINUES on FF7 (because CC is a prequel, and so it's a right statement).
No remakes, it only points to play FF7 for PSX or PC.

Like Airdevil stated, why didn't the game just show "To be continued in Final Fantasy VII" everytime you beat the game instead of after you beat the game twice. Clearly its some kind of a hint towards a new FFVII in some form. Besides, if it does come out for PS3, it could be the turning point for PS3's temporary failure. Sony would probably beg Square-Enix to make it anyway.

Couldn't someone rip a video?

LOL I bet $ony would. If i heard this game was remade for PS3 I would buy a PS3 in a heartbeat
VexnadFett
September 14th, 2007, 01:13
lol! rip the video via the new psp ;P....
but seriously think about this... did star wars episode 1, 2 or 3 say at the end... "To be continued!"... no... and i definitely don't think square would be stupid enough to plug a 10 year old game that has long since been unavailable on the market...
tho i am suddenly skeptical of it coming to the ps3.... because in the images when looking at cloud... it's almost Kingdom Hearts FMV style rather than a video taken direct from what they plan on the ps3... just me thinkin' out loud...

It says "To be continued in FFVII" not "Continued in FFVII"
I mean why would they not release a remake of a game they know it's going to sell very well?

This message was very vague. I mean, you could hold a good argument either way. But one can hope.....

This doesn't necessarily mean that there will be a remake. It says "To be continued in Final Fantasy VII..." not Final Fantasy VII remake! Almost everyone knows that this is a prequel of Final Fantasy VII,because FFVII is very famous. But maybe, just maybe, this is for those people who don't know FFVII's story or haven't play it.

I'm gonna laugh at the people that expected a remake if they're talking about the original FFVII. If it's a remake, bring it on, I might end up falling to the hype. >_> I know this much though, once CC comes out in English, I'm gonna play it.

FF7; its only pathetic to see people play the same crappy storyline and battle system again, and again, and AGAIN, and AGAIN and AGAIN, and AGAIN. I'm sure when we reach the 432nd time people may get a brain cell and figure out, "wow, I just spend half a million dollars buying the same game 432 times."

I dunno where you bought your copy of FFVII but apparently you paid way tooo much for it. I mean it was a great game and all but half a million dollars? I paid $80 for it when it first came out and I thought that was alot, man someone screwed you over big time. Speaking of brain cells, your exaggerated opinion makes no sense at all. I'm not gonna dwell into it too deep but your either drunk, dumb, or maybe inbred but either way FFVII was a great game and alot of other people that didn't spend half a million dollars on it are excited for a remake so keep you wannabe anti-hero opinions to yourself cuz the time of the "I like the opposite of everything everyone else likes" era is over.

Whether you understood what I meant or not, I never said I paid a half million dollars....yet. 423 I think it was. After the 423rd remake of this game, I'd spend well over 500,000 dollars buying FFVII remakes. I think they are somewhere on 6 or so. You spent 80 bucks on this thing???
I really still can't believe most people want a remake. When a game is good, it doesn't need a remakes. It never will need a remake, and it never SHOULD get a remake. Argue with that your simply ignorant.
Course, this is only if a game was good. Which the ORIGINAL FFVII was. Pity Enix can't see that.
P.S. Still not sure what an anti-hero era is. Yep, thats right, I don't like FFVII. Or the PS3. If that makes me evil I don't want to be good.

Yeah, your probably right. Remake isn't a good word. Branches, I should say. Also, because the battle system hasn't changes since FFI, I still consider every Final Fantasy Game to be practically the exact same. The only difference is story.
Branches: FFVII, FFVII Advent Children (aware its a movie), FFVII Dirge of Cerberus, FFVII Crisis Core, the new FFVII remake told in this thread. The Release of FFVII for PC. Its like Sonic the Hedgehog without the speed.
I'm willing to admit that I was indeed a huge fan of FFVII. (Not a part of life I'm proud of) I even bought FFVII, the original from ebay for $40 and the PC version as well. I played it for 2 hours, literally forcing myself to play it. Now I can understand how people can play it for the story but for heavens sake, I take the gameplay to be in higher regard then the story. And when it comes to gameplay...
Drake > Final Fantasy.

Of course most of the Final Fantasy games gameplay is the same. That's why they're called Final Fantasy. Thats like saying all people have similarities so they are boring. If you want a different Final Fantasy play XI or XII. They have totally different gameplay. Just because the battles are the same doesn't mean the whole game is exactly the same. There's different characters, different stories, even different worlds for God's sake. So how can you say they are all the same? It make no sense. Just because they use turn based battles with magic and skills? Thats the only similarities they have...

Shadow, with all due respect, I believe you are highly misled... I mean first of all if you're talking about rehashes of a dead series, then why is SHADOW THE HEDGEHOG your avatar?!?! ... you also have an Xbox360 gamertag so why are you bothering anyway?... i scoff at your feeble attempts to withhold a great story from the masses! haha ^___^

people are ridiculous with this hopeful nonsense

I really doubt that SQEX would make you play a game twice to see something like that. If it was just a normal cinematic shown after you beat the game, then that's different story, but twice?
or maybe they mean, "if you're silly enough to play this twice, then maybe you'd still go for our PS1 FFVII game."
Then again, they don't even publish FFVII anymore, so they wouldn't be getting any benefits from more PS1 FFVII sales.

Well...they've done it 13 times, whats stopping them from doing it again?
BTW, Vex? practically everything you said had no relation to this topic. We have to stay on topic in the forums, k?
the FINAL in Final fantasy has never been true for FFVII. They oughta just call it FANTASY. I understand why Enix continues to throw out the mess of a battle system-- they aren't good at the others, which I understand tho. Button mashing can be fun too.
The Story accounts for a PART of the game. A good part, don't get me wrong, but even the story has stayed relatively the same-- Hero, aide, Heroine (often killed), and the hero is always an unexpected one. Except Cecil. Everyone knew he was perfectly badda**.
If I can't get through the battle system to see the story, I'd rather just Wiki it. You can't Wiki gameplay though.

lol Shadowblind I guess your in title to your own opinion but if you aren't gonna play the game just because the battle system stays close to the original your pretty ignorant. Anyway I'm sure they will eventually remake it eventually, it's next on there list anyway:p

that way when it doesn't happen i wont be disappointed
i beat it a few days ago, i almost had a heart attack when i saw that, but then i set the PSP down and calmly thought about it
and i think its unlikely

I only Beat the game once on normal mode and got that movie of the remade intro, dont know if thats a european version thing or not, i hope for an updated version of FF VII simply because i feel the game would be amazing looking like crisis core and having the same combat mode and other GUI elements of crisis,
Imagine that final battle cut scene remade, awesome

I'm pretty sure "to be continued" is a reference to the actual ff7 game on the psx. seeing as how it literally is continued because crisis core is a prequel.
And square has denied planning a remake 23453245 times.
