View Full Version : Team AOP announced New Custom Firmware

Chameleon
September 15th, 2007, 00:21
Team AOP is currently developing a new custom firmware that will gain it’s new features by asking the users what features they want. Team AOP is PSPCrazy’s new official homebrew team, and it seems that they will release the custom firmware within the next week. Check back for more information.

What makes Team AOP unique?
We are trying to be unique by created a custom XMB that would be installed while flashing the 3.52 AoP Firmware. Also we are trying to incorporate the ideas of fellow PSP users’ ideas to create useful application to add to our firmware to make it stand out. Right now, we are trying to finish the flasher and the rest is just beta testing.

Description:
We are a new development team trying to improve the PSP Homebrew Scene. We are trying to be out there and make PSP using easier and a lot more fun. The sexy XMB is designed to be a signature of team AOP and are still trying to incorporate it into our firmware. Release is going be to be very soon as soon as we get everything figured out and finished. The password protection will be easy to use and of course, will load before the XMB to ensure you that your little siblings won’t play your games or look at some videos.

Features:
Comes with a sleek XMB
Password protection on startup
Includes all features in previous OE and M33 Firmwares
New Recovery Menu
Use XMBs , gameboots, fonts, etc. without flashing (memory stick required)
And more to come!

-Team AoP-

This sounds excellent. Let's hope it releases like planned. There have been past cases where custom firmware plans have seemed to turn to dust. Their feature list looks nice. Then again, the screenshot they've posted proves nothing. It's easy to mod both the XMB skin and spoof the firmware already. We'll just have to wait and see what turns out of this.

The dev team is as follows, posted by Nephron on the GamingCrazy forums:
Yanko693
Nephron
Oldgit
wetwili357

this is basically a gaming crazy exclusive and no other sites have been really notified.

But now they have. Thanks for the news. :)

Update: After talking with Chameleon and several of the scene's best hackers on IRC, I've decided that I think this is bullshit until the opposite has been proven. Some of the team members are what many would call noobs, just look up their posts. We've also found out that two of them are 15 years old. True, some 15-year olds might be able to pull this off, but I highly doubt it. Two screenshots by two different members show a slight difference in the XMB, but the latest one looks worse than the first one.

hahah this is bullshit like the other 2 custom firmwares that were tba and never came out yet. its kinda late to just jump in with a new custom firmware

Sounds good. I don't think I'll move out from M33 that easily though. Let's see if they get me the day it comes out.

I really don't want to register for their website but I would like to suggest that an AVI codec is made for the XMB video. That would be tight.

I'd love to see more video and audio codecs supported too. I think those will come from a different sort of programmer though.

it's funny why ppl doesn't appreciate and stay loyal to M33 after all that they've done for the whole homebrew scene...it's sad to always see ppl jumping ships just becos of a few changes...

that is probably the only thing i would ask for. divx, xvid, mkv, ogm, (without having to reencode) it would be the best firmware ever. oh yeah and video conference using the chotto shot. that would make me, bust a nut

PS. to all the haters floating about, talkin shit. remember you were talking shit when m33 entered the scene. now look at you. Up on their sac. Stop talkin your shit

Team M33 usally announces a new firmware 12-24 hours before they release it. Their homepage is here (http://m-33.narod.ru/) and their forums are hosted here (http://pspx.ru/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=124). When they announce a new firmware, it usally gets posted on their forums first, then their homepage.

Its sad that people who loved DAXs work jumped ship and went to M33 just cause it had one new feature after DAX made the original and best custom firmwares, homebrew, and downgraded half of your PSPs

go home kid, its called homebrew, and you get to pick and choose what you want, no ones going to force you to upgrade to team AoP's firmware, so just enjoy your m33.

Hi..
i did believe in this earlier today, and had a brainstorm

dont know what you guys think, it might not be possible at all,
but with the new final fantasy crisis core and the fact that more and more
rpg players that are also anime fans, if it would be possible to make subs for games,
even if they would come on top of the original subs and look like the ones on the
VHS!!!where we would use a black background behind the text!
NOW THAT WOULD BE A FEATURE!!!! SUKE!!!!
because lots of us enjoy the games in japanese voice over,
and would not like to see them translated to english
like they did with Naruto and such, and i think this might be possible!!!!
PLEASE look into the sub feature!!! my heart burns for it, and im pretty sure that fan subbers like
Kuro-hana subs or dattebayo would be interested in translating the games, if not other would.

now if team AoP is not making a CFW, could someone else look into this feature???
since it would make it really easy to translate games,
all that would be needed would be a sub file with the time, and text,
while a plugin prx would run it. like fex CW cheat runs on top of games and others...

PLEEZ someone Anyone!!! help us who love our RPG's in japanese but with english text!!!! SPREAD THE WORD!!!

thanks to all of you, i love dcemu, look at it everyday when i wake up!!!!
first thing in the morning!!!

That wouldnt be possible to do, unless of course ISO editing occured. Which isnt allowed to be spoken on these forums. Its a good idea, but it wont be put into a firmware... well unless it was all out of sync or something which would be pointless.

vatomalo
September 15th, 2007, 12:42
i dont think that ISO editing is needed, since it would run on top of the game.. imean it would run with umds, it would not need to be put in a firmware either, but the sync would be written in the file, like they do with .SRT's and maybe where on the screen to display the text... but the whole idea would be to black out the old text and display the translated one on top...and we could use different colors as black out, to camuflage it

hope some coders are interested, and well we as a community could talk to fansubbers.. for making game subs, this have been done for snes, but it was alot easier hex editing games, and that is illegal, but this would not be, since it would not do anything to the umd, and no ISO editing,

im sorry i never thought it through, the fact that the game had to tell the program where in the game it was, since it would not run as a movie, and not have a time table, if someone figures that out, well then we would have a great plugin!!!

ill spend sometime thinking about it before i post again

EDIT ::

what if they used code offsets instead of time offsets
if the code accessed the psp memory it would read it and display the subtitle
im not sure about this and dont really know much about it, but im sure somebody does.
and i mean it would be really great with srt's for games, and they would run with umd too..
so i hope someone hears my plead that im am certain is the voice of many ppl..

F.ex

it would be something like

Do you guys know what loyalty will get you in the homebrew scene? A worse set of firmware and programs than you could have had and a bitter heart towards those in on the fun. Relax guys, it's not like they're selling this stuff anyways. Loyalty would only encourage the coder that it is as good as it can get and you're content with it. If that's the case then fine but if you're just trying to be loyal for the sake of being loyal then you're hurting the homebrew scene, slightly :). I haven't changed to firmware 3.52 M33 because I've found no reason. If this new firmware has any goodies, and not just the generic "Now supports the newest official PSP firmware" then I will definitely update. Again, some new codecs are at the top of my list as far as my wishlist for anything PSP but I doubt they will ever come.

Buddy4point0
September 15th, 2007, 14:42
gah, new firmware is good, but i would rather they just help m33. or m33 copy the ideas. i dont like having choices with this stuff. m33 ftw

Cokemusic
September 15th, 2007, 15:42
I don't get all this loyalty crap , if everyone abondones m33 after the AOP update then that's perfectly understandable it's not a matter of betrayal.

We naturaly desire the more advanced, usefull version of something we already have "loyalty" would only be denying ourselvs of something better.

Proggamers shouldn't expect loyalty it's something they work for and maintain if they want.

I'm loyal to my friends , family etc not lines of code.

Then, they'll add a new prx for add his own improvements.

September 15th, 2007, 20:25
ok, so everyone who is complaining about loyalty to coders...
just stop
nobody cares.
if you think you should stay with DaX because he was a leader with the custom firmware, and downgraders, then do it. its not liek it matters.
if you want to go to M33 because it is just like DaX firmwares, just took place after they left, go ahead, sounds like the more logical solution to me.
if you want to try all the new and crazy stuff like wildcards firmware, and this AOP possible custom firmware, DO IT, its YOUR PSP, there is no reason for anyone to care...

moral of the story is:
if you still think DaX is the coolest thing since the PSP itself, thats cool, you arent betraying him by using a newer firmware, im sure he supports these new firmwares, and would respect your decisions to go to the more updated and more feature filled custom firmwares.

i personally went to M33...
WHY YOU ASK?!
because, its safe, reliable, is much like OE, except new.
dont call me some sort of backstabber or whatever you think it is if i like to use the newest stable firmware.

it will make it that much better if they DO make a good CFW
