I higher brightness?

Actually, I'm looking for a lower brightness.

But finding out that the new PSP has all these cool things is making me sad.

brighter than the old psp??

Yes it's brighter then the old PSP. I compared the PSP Slim's 4th brightness with the old PSP's 4th brightness and the Slim was still brighter. With this plugin we can get a 5th brightness which is so bright it can hurt you eyes :p! This is good for watching videos and looking at pictures or even use it to play outside since you can barely see the screen when you're playing outside.

I need a lower brightness, even the darkest one hurts my eyes at nighttime.
