Hi All,

Here is a new version of PSPMSX the MSX series Emulator for PSP.

For those who haven't seen previous versions, fMSX is a famous emulator
of the MSX, MSX2, and MSX2+ 8bit home computers.
It runs MSX/MSX2/MSX2+ software on many different platforms
including Windows and Unix.
See http://fms.komkon.org/fMSX/ for further informations.
It has been first written by Marat Fayzullin, and later Vincent van Dam
ported it on SDL.

What's new in version 1.2.0 :

- Huge speed improvements, it runs now faster than 60 fps
using only 222Mhz PSP clock frequency
- IR keyboard support !
- New graphics and eboot icons
- Display and save thumbnail images for each save state
- Add a new render mode (fit height)
- New speed limiter function
- Add option to display fps rate
- Now compatible with custom firmwares 3.x and PSP-slim
- Add a simple intro splash screen
- Support iso8859-1 fonts in print text functions
(might be useful to translate menus in german, french ...)
- Bug fix and code cleaning

How to use it ? Everything is in the README.txt file.

Sources are included, and are distributed under Marat Fayzullin's license
for the original MSX part, and under GNU license for all the PSP part.

** UPDATE 9/23/2007 ** I've uploaded a new version to fix a bug (psp freeze when changing the ram size in the default settings). Thanks to 7th-son for his feedback.

You can download it on my blog :

Enjoy, Zx.

zx, you are definitely making the PSP a must have in my house. I went out and bought a Tarugus keyboard to try out your ir mechanations. My wife saw me using your ir-keyboard versions of PSPPDA and PSPoste and said that if you could print from it, she wouldn't need her laptop at work. She and my son both want ir keyboards now.

Definitely keep up the good work! I'm looking forward to seeing what other goodies you grace us with.

Thanks for your efforts on our behalf.

:D you're a lucky man, when my wife and my son have seen me testing my IR keyboard on a PSP they both told me that i was crazy (may be because i'm using a laptop to upload my homebrew stuff on my PSP  )

perfect, finally a new update on the msx emulator!

though i did notice that some software does need 300mhz instead of 222mhz to run good enough.
but alot of games work good or even perfect! I love the fmpac sound.
haven't had the chance to test scc or moonsound yet though

and also, when i changed some settings (like screensize, memory to 512kb and some other stuff) i noticed the emulator froze, and the psp turned off.
and eventually it wouldn't even start anymore (freezes at the splash screen).

Does anybody know if a loose scc.rom is available somewhere?

PS i'd love to test updates for ya, if you ould want that :)

It's a bug, i've found it and fixed it.

It happens when you change the default MSX version or the ram size. To overcome this issue you have to remove the file set/carta.set ...

If will upload a new version here and on my web site asap.

Yes of course, with pleasure ! btw, many thanks for your feedback !
