3.71 M33 by M33=Dark_AleX
Changes in 3.71 M33:

- Now uses 3.71

- VSH Menu is not longer launched using HOME key, but using SELECT now. This is to not
interfere with the XMB function of home, which is now more useful in this firmware.

- Psp Slim: umdcache was allocating memory even when homebrew was launched, wasting

memory that homebrew programs may want to use. Now umdcache module is stopped before

it can allocate any memory, only in the case homebrew is launched.

Also, memory is unprotected for user memory usage by M33 core (only when homebrew is launched).

Developer, for a sample of how to use the extra memory, see the extra ram sample of the M33 sdk.

- Both version boot now from 3.XX ipl, and are independent of 1.50.

The main installer will not install 1.50 kernel anymore.

A 1.50 kernel addon for 3.71 M33 that will install inside 3.71 M33 EDIT: It now releases and guide has been updated
few days (for fat only)

Note: due to some changes in kernel nids by Sony, you can expect a lot of kernel plugins not working anymore.

Requirements: a fat psp slim with 3.52 M33-3 or 3.52 M33-4NOTE: If you have a custom theme you will need to remove it. Previous versions of M33 won't work, due to a bug that affects them and OE; or a psp slim with 3.60 M33.

So is there no getting straight here from Good 'old 3.03OE's?

Not even if I jig it down to 1.5?

I guess I'll look into how to load the M33 OE prior required. .. unless any of you kind gents has a better suggestion. THX

Bobtentpeg

is this firmware 2.71 compatable or do I have to downgrade to 1.5 first?

Bobtentpeg
September 25th, 2007, 13:11
you will need to downgrade to 1.5 (tell me which mobo you have ta082+ or nonta082 and I will submit a guide to downgrade that)

then upgrade to 3.52 M33 then -3

Please take off the OE bit from the end of this topic - it's stupid, as it's M33 - even if it was coded by Dark_AleX.

Edit: Thank's for changing it :)

What am I doing wrong?
I'm a noob & I finally made it to 3.52 M33-4. Now I'm trying to get to 3.71 M33. I added 371.PBP & EBOOT.PBP to PSP/GAME/UPDATE, but I keep getting corrupted data. I also tried it with umodule.PRX, but I got corrupted data again. I even tried dropping everything I extracted from the 3.71 M33.rar file, but I still get corrupted data. Could someone PLEASE tell me what I'm doing wrong!

I'm certainly no expert, but I'd guess you were putting the M33 creator in the wrong place, check CAREFULLY EXACTLY which folder it's supposed to go in. There are more than one "game" folders... make sure you're getting it in the correct one.

Bobtentpeg
September 25th, 2007, 21:38
make sure you place the UPDATE folder that is provided in ms0:/PSP/GAME/

then palce the 371.PBP in there. it shouldnt show up as corrupt if you do that

That is a very good tutorial. I followed it though to install custom firmware 3.71 on one of my PSPs.

However, I noticed it won't work if one's IDstorage is damaged, especially the keys that control the region because the updater will not let you install it, hacked or not. I know this because one of my PSP units has suffered damage to the IDstorage.

Can someone help me, I have a TA-82 mobo, I used the pandora battery to downgrade my 3.50 psp to 1.50 firmware. Then I update it to 3.52 M33-4, but it bricks when I try to update it to 3.71 M33. Could it be that my idstorage is messed up?? If it is, how do i fix it?

Any help will be appreciated

Quite new to this

I just bought a psp yesterday (thought I better add that I live in the uk so its a uk one) and it has firmware version 3.71 on it

I imagine that it is the normal 3.71 and not the custom one

I would like to be able to downgrade it and use the custom firmware

Am I still able to just use the 3.71 m33 guide and softwares? in order to do this

Thanks

tris

EDIT: Is a pandoras battery required?

Bobtentpeg
November 18th, 2007, 15:27
Since you are on 3.71, yes pandora is required either to downgrade to 1.5, or just do a straight install of 3.71 M33 using pandora

I presume then I can do it using the guide here after getting a pandora battery then?

Please, I have a FAT PSP with the "3.51 M33" firmware installed and I would like to upgrade to the "3.71 M33"

Could you point me to a guide to upgrade my PSP from "3.51 M33" to "3.52 M33-3 or 4" since this is a pre-requisite for the "3.71 M33" upgrade.

Thanks a lot for all your time and attention.

I saw the guide you pointed me, but I though at first, that it could only be used on a 1.5 firmware, and not on a 3.51 M33 one. (I'm new at this stuff)

I've followed the instructions and it worked like a charm! Now my PSP is 3.52 M33-4.

Now... One more question...

Could you give me a personal opinion if I should or not upgrade to the 3.71 M33 firmware?

I'm only concerned about stability and compatibility. I don't care about themes and customizations.

Again, thanks a lot for you time!

Bobtentpeg

371M33-3 is perfectly stable, the PSX emu is about that some as 3.52 M33. noUMD is basically the same.

Ok, so I'm a little confused when it comes to this. Here's my current setup: I have one of the original PSPs (1.50 fw) that has been upgraded to the 3.10 OE-A fw. I want to upgrade to the most recent custom fw but I'm not quite sure which method to follow. I read the tutorials above and i'm still a little sketchy.

There's two obvious choices, the 3.51 or 3.71 both the M33 fws. Here's the thing, I also have custom emulators that I run under the 1.50 to play old NES, SNES, Genesis, etc games.

Help? What should I do and which custom fw should I use given the current settings?

Thanks.
