Sonic: Lost World (http://www.joystiq.com/game/sonic-lost-world) will receive two pieces of downloadable content on Wii U, Nintendo President Satoru Iwata announced during today's Nintendo Direct (http://www.joystiq.com/tag/xmas-direct-2013)livestream. The DLC stages will be based on Nintendo properties, the first being a level pulling inspiration and elements from Yoshi's New Island (http://www.joystiq.com/game/yoshis-new-island), Nintendo's 3DS entry in the series due out in spring 2014 (http://www.joystiq.com/2013/12/18/yoshis-new-island-announced-for-spring-2014/).
Called Yoshi's Island Zone, the first piece of DLC is available now for free, and has Sonic "speeding through areas filled with pipes, coins, Shy Guys and Piranha Plants."
