News/release from Samhain;694755:

This is how I've downgraded my FAT PSP with CF 3.71M33 to 1.50 Original FW:

* Copy the entire content of the attached file to PSP\GAME folder.
* Rename Original FW 1.50 file to UPDATE.PBP and copy it to PSP\GAME\UPDATE folder.
* In the Game menu launch "Update to X.Y.Z."
* Follow the onscreen instruction and it's done in a while.

I got a FAT PSP with motherboard prior to TA082. I've no responsibility if you damage your PSP with the above procedure.

Works on TA-079 and TA-082

Hey I'm currently bricked on 3.71 M33 and only can access the recovery menu, could I launch this from recovery and go back to 1.5?

Anonymous D
September 27th, 2007, 20:20
in theory yes to the above, but itd have to be put in the folder as sepcified by the recovery i forget whart thst is now.

CaptainMorgan4
September 27th, 2007, 20:27
So what your saying is if I rename this folder to "Recovery" and throw it in the GAME folder and put the 1.5 firmware in it and name it to UPDATE and then run the recovery from thing from the recovery menu it will work? Can someone here that knows for sure if it will work please tell me because I really don't want to go through the whole Pandora thing if this is a solution. I hate being BRICKED I want my PSP back!

Who would want to downgrade from 3.71 M33 :D

CaptainMorgan4
September 27th, 2007, 20:41
People like me who bricked, and you know maybe a couple RARE people who like 1.5 kernal.

Me.

I used to launch some homebrews which don't work in 3.71M33. Most of them are emulators... Also PimpStreamer and IRShell.

Not the most important, eh?

i think what you need to do is as above, then copy (not move) the eboot to the RECOVERY folder inside GAME

I thought noobs couldn't wait for their 3.71 M33 (More like demanded it to be done)
Maybe this is a lesson to STFU next time, be patient and READ THE README (or the news post for that same matter)

Changes in 3.71 M33:
- Now uses 3.71
- VSH Menu is not longer launched using HOME key, but using SELECT now. This is to not interfere with the XMB function of home, which is now more useful in this firmware.
- Psp Slim: umdcache was allocating memory even when homebrew was launched, wasting memory that homebrew programs may want to use. Now umdcache module is stopped before it can allocate any memory, only in the case homebrew is launched. Also, memory is unprotected for user memory usage by M33 core (only when homebrew is launched). Developer, for a sample of how to use the extra memory, see the extra ram sample of the M33 sdk.
- Both version boot now from 3.XX ipl, and are independent of 1.50. The main installer will not install 1.50 kernel anymore. A 1.50 kernel addon for 3.71 M33 that will install inside 3.71 M33 will be released in a few days (for fat only)

isn't this the normal downgrade process, but from the XMB instead of recovery ... ?

Oh, thinking about it... no. Thanks! Awesome.

ahahaha, awesome...this is 'teh noobz' 3.52 downgrader, not a new one for 3.71 at all

CaptainMorgan4
September 27th, 2007, 22:04
Jak66 I'm not sure what your talking about could you elaborate? Ok I put this folder in my GAME folder after renaming it to RECOVERY. I then put the 1.5 firmware in there after renaming it to UPDATE. Then I put the new RECOVERY folder in my GAME folder and ran it. I got a black screen and nothing happened. So then I took the eboot from the old recovery folder (from 3.02 OE) and replaced it with the eboot that came with this downgrader. This time after running it it acted like it was going to work but then after I clicked X to accept the license it just gave me errors the whole time SO it didn't work. Lastly I then took the whole old RECOVERY folder and put THIS eboot that came with this file in there and I just got a black screen. SOMEONE HELP ME PLEASE I DON'T WANT TO DO PANDORA BECAUSE IT'LL TAKE ME AT LEAST A COUPLE DAYS TO GET ANOTHER PSP TO DO THE PROCEDURE. Please to whoever coded this project PLEASE make it runable through the recovery menu PLEASE I want my PSP back. Anyone else here have any ideas of how to get my PSP working again????

240-185
September 27th, 2007, 22:05
I switched back only because the kernel 1.50 takes a lot of time to develop. Even more when I know that D_A wants to unbrick first some customized PSPs.

He was so tough with all these noobs who couldn't wait for 3.71M33... But when they break their toys with some dumb customizing, they still must be served first? I don't get the point.

I always followed the updates of the custom firmwares, but here, it is the first time I switched to an anterior custom firmware...

Please anyone know how to get this to work through recovery menu, I'm bricked so please someone help me out. I can do Pandora but it will take me some time to get another homebrew PSP to get it to work. Question though guys, when I do the Pandora procedure will I have to delete the stuff off it or can I just make it a magic stick with my stuff on it and then just delete the Pandora stuff manually when I'm done?

cyclonus002

If you want to make your memory stick a magic stick, CaptainMorgan4, just take all of your stuff off, follow the normal format procedures that Pandora so desires, then put all your stuff back on.

If it did not boot then your ipl is not bootable.

If you live in england i could unbrick it for you.

For those who dont feel like waiting for your battery to charge to 75%, hold L + Triangle from gameboot till the disclaimer

I do not recommend if the XMB reads your battery as 20% or lower. (even though the entire process takes about 0.5% to 2%, depending on your screen brightness)

CaptainMorgan4
September 29th, 2007, 23:32
No I don't live in england, no there was this one step that wouldn't go right so I think that was the problem. I'm currently getting help from Darth Paul so.

The 4gb Sandisk Ruby Red and quite possibly all the 4gb memory sticks (need further testing) are not compatable to be made into Magic Pandora Memory Sticks.

I can confirm that 4g memory sticks will NOT work!(using pandora installer) When you try to re-partition and format the stick it goes right into the set-up of 1.5 firm and then wants to set the msipl file, when it does and exits it says there is no memory stick - this is wrong, it should tell you to re-boot the psp at the end of format -- 1g and under (as long as it's a pro stick) WILL work.

Yeah..successfully downgraded, and upgraded to 3.52M33-4 no problems at all. Yeah, it would have been better honestly, if I had a larger memory card, being only at 1GB cuts me kind of short, so I gotta run most of my games from USBHOSTFS, and load my homebrew from the card.

If you're on 3.52 official then a pandora's battery and magic memory stick are the only method that you can use to downgrade.

Don't buy a pandora's battery. Just get a regular battery (this one (http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B000A6CD04?ie=UTF8&tag=fanjitasplace-21&link_code=as3&camp=2506&creative=9298&creativeASIN=B000A6CD04) is cheap and confirmed to be compatible) and convert it yourself. It's a simple process.

http://www.noobz.eu/joomla/news/unbricker-for-all-firmwares.html

That link will tell you all about Pandora. The readme included with the download includes instructions for using the tools. It requires no soldering. All it requires:

1. a homebrew capable PSP*,
2. a machine running Windows 2000, XP or Vista,
3. an official sony "fat" battery (ie. not the one shipped with the slim) or the one I linked to,
4. A memory stick that's larger than 32 and smaller than 8GB. A 512MB is ideal, and can be bought from picstop.co.uk very cheaply.

* Why do you need a homebrew capable PSP? Because you need to create the files necessary to make the memory stick, which will end up containing Sony copyright code, so distributing an already created one is illegal.

If you don't have or have access to a homebrew capable PSP, this page:

http://www.noobz.eu/joomla/news/information-for-ebay-buyers.html

has links to pages where you can find a volunteer who will help you.

You have an Pandora battery or access Recovery Menu ?
If you have why you dont reinstall 1.50 then 3.52 M33 and after 3.71 M33 +add-on ?
Or if you have a backuped nand of your PSP when it was 3.71 M33 just reflash it and install 1.50 add-on again.
Flashing the nand of another PSP can give you serious problems .

[QUOTE=wraggster;524201]News/release from Samhain;694755:

IVE DONE ALL YOUR GUIDE BUT WHEN I LAUNCH THE UPDATEXYZ IT SAYS >>> THE GAME COULD NOT START (80020148) PLS HELP ME WITH IT THNX ALOT

Hi, I'm new to this and was just wondering if someone could help me out. I've had a psp since the day it launched in the U.K and have been able to maintain the 1.50 firmware. However the latest Roms won't play with Devhook, fastloader etc..

So I upgraded to that new custom 3.51. All my roms work fine, but before, whenever I restarted the psp it would always revert back to 1.50. This time it seems stuck on 3.51!!

Not a problem as it still plays all my games, however I was wondering if someone could explain to me what has actually happened to my psp, and if I have lost my 1.50 firmware forever????

Thanks.

i tried running this and it said (after the psp start up and a short black screen) that the game could not bestarted. I have a t-082 mboard.
What should I do?

Anyhow I'll look about.

Could this be used to downgrade from 3.90 M33 to 1.50? Maybe replacing the 3.71 files with the 3.90 files? Maybe? In theory?

SkyscraperXD
February 20th, 2008, 05:05
@TazJGC
The answer: NO. Sony changed the NIDs and stuff of all the homebrews and etc, so the devs needs to make a new downgrader.

EDIT: Haha... very funny. Error code DADADADA. Apparently, my psp (TA-82) think this is a offical update or something. What now?
