topmenu_plugin's won't work (as yet) as the format for them have changed, the text and the icon's have now been seperated into seperate files.

However, font's, gameboot's, prx's and maybe even different rco's should all work fine.

These are my results with this so far.

1-12.bmp (wallpaper)= running, although several icons go missing on the xmb but they still have their text next to them

gameboot.pmf = running fine

impose_plugin = freezes when using web browser

system_plugin.rco = freezes xmb after a few seconds

system_plugin_bg.rco(waves) = running fine

system_plugin_fg.rco = freezes at initial "Sony Computer Entertainment" screen, switches off

topmenu_plugin.rco(Icons) = freezes on xmb without any icons showing at all, swicthes off

Game_plugin.rco = seems to be working, I dont have a de-branded one to check at this point in time.

Mike did you try this?

"Resize the background BMP to 352x199
If you try and use it as background theme (the first selectable theme color) without resizing the image
You will randomly loose the display of some icons. (white blocks)
Once the BMP is resized you can convert it to a JPG.
Then rename it to 01-12.BMP <- make sure to change the extension from JPG to BMP"
(converting themes and using CXMB (http://www.dcemu.co.uk/vbulletin/showpost.php?p=481633&postcount=4))

If someone already hasnt tried this:
I am going to try to covert a ptf theme to RCO (http://endlessparadigm.com/forum/showthread.php?tid=4055&page=1) and then use RCOEdit114d (http://www.pspbrew.com/?page=fileInfo&cid=&d=5060)
To convert a theme...

CXMB is one of my fav plug-ins
I have a 2.71M33 PSP I use just for this kind of testing.

will this plugin work on the phat psp or is it just for the slim?

After working with this a bit this is what i have found.

I Coverted the wipeEout ptf to rco
but its useless as a conversion template.
Most of the icons names have changed.

The old trick of renaming 01-12.jpg to 01-12.bmp no longer seems to work.

The custom WipEout ptf theme seems to have no problems with a custom 01-12.bmp

I rebooted and powered off and up... no corruption.
Tested on a Phat PSP running 3.71M33

you need to make a folder called "cxmb" in the root of your memory stick, then add the folders font and vsh to that , then add resources to the vsh folder, then put your prx files in there and obviously your fonts go in the font folder :)

Mike

Micronut.

Tahnks for the tip on re sizing the wallpapers, although I havent had complete success with it yet, I have managed to shrink it and get most of the icons back, but some of them have gone a little weird, I think I will wait until there is an English language tutorial on the new theme creator from Sony (yes they actually have released a prog to make your own themes for 3.60 +) as I want my Bleach wallpapers at full screen with my waves :):)

photo_plugin.rco = does not work
game_plugin.rco = work
visualizer_plugin.rco = work
gameboot.pmf = work
01-12.BMP works if its a real bmp and a custom theme is loaded.
(neither shrinking or renaming seem to work anymore)

Fonts crash web browser (edit: some fonts have problems)
Fonts do not load in Popstation (this is good)

Does not work with PopsLoader?
(Maybe this only a 3.71M33 problem because I cannot use PopsLoader at all with 3.71M33)
Popstation crashes sometimes if the popsloader plug-in is enabled or if a the Pops menu is called... rt.trigger.

Mike
wow! thanks for the heads up on Sony's tutorial
hopefully it can be used to convert some of the more popular top_menus.
It looks like as long as a custom theme.ptf is used backgrounds with waves should be possible without icon corruption.

Micronut:

I have had no problems with custom fonts in the web browser at the moment, strange.
Did you try and change the jpn0.ltg? if so I know that one does crash the psp but the one I am currently using (from OWFX's green dookie theme) works fine under the XMB and in the web browser.
To use the sony convertor it looks like you have to imput individual icons on there own, so people may be able to look into this soon, I know that evolve have already released a theme in the .ptf format for 3.60 + firmware, sony have done a good thing by making this part of the firmware, we just need to find a good way of using all the older top menu's icons now :)

I am just using one font ltn0.pgf
Maybe its just the font I am using.

I see the custom ptf here:
Ambient Perspective - For 3.40, 3.5x and 3.7x (http://www.consolespot.net/)

The Sony PTF creation tool is there as well.
Thank you very much!

Using CXMB 2.5

1. Create a folder on the root of the PSP's memory card called cxmb
In this example
The windows drive I: is the root of the PSP memory stick.

2. Copy the cxmb.prx to this folder
http://www.fullburn.com/cxmb/CXMB_01.jpg

3. In the cxmb folder create two folders called: vsh and font
(copy only one custom font into the font folder: ltn0.pgf)
http://www.fullburn.com/cxmb/CXMB_01.jpg

4. Inside of the vsh folder create another folder called: resource
http://www.fullburn.com/cxmb/CXMB_02.jpg

5. Inside of the resource folder copy all of the custom RCO's that you want to use.
(To use a custom back ground resize the image to 352x199.
Make sure its .BMP and named 01-12.bmp as shown in the pic.)
http://www.fullburn.com/cxmb/CXMB_03.jpg

6. Go to the seplugins folder on your memory stick and edit the vsh.txt file to include the line: ms0:/cxmb/cxmb.prx
http://www.fullburn.com/cxmb/CXMB_04.jpg

7. Boot into Recovery and Enable the CXMB plug-in

If you want to change the background of a custom theme to use the 01-12.bmp background image
(So that the waves ride on top of the background image)

This example uses the Black Rhizura theme for 3.71M33 (http://www.consolespot.net/)

1. Go to Settings -> Theme -> Color -> Choose the First color icon under By Month
http://www.fullburn.com/cxmb/snap005.jpg

2. Next Go to Settings -> Theme -> Wallpaper and Choose Original.
http://www.fullburn.com/cxmb/snap007.jpg

3. Reboot your PSP the best way you know how
http://www.fullburn.com/cxmb/snap006.jpg

4. Now the waves ride on top of the background image:
