Is this like a homebrew version of super paper mario? I was just thinking how that game would be great on DS the other day.

::Xraxa, plz:.

A very cool idea, I liked the 3d aspect of the new paper mario a lot.

Correct me if I'm wrong - isn't there a HUGE difference between isometric and 3D?!?

We had isometric on our Spectrums and C64s for God's sake we never pretended they were 3D!

Are those just concept shots? They looks like poorly made shops. The first screen shows a rendered background and sprites while the second screen looks entirely different.

My guess is these aren't real screen captures and only shown for concept. Hopefully he'll show something more concrete in the next update. I think his blog said it'll be in 2 weeks?

Lol there's nothing 3d on any of those screenshots.

This is like SUPER PAPER MARIO. In that game, you can switch between the classic Super Mario 2D view, and a completely 3D view.

Being this an homebrew, it's obvious that the isometric is used instead a real 3D. Switching in 3D, you can walk over blocks, because their 3D position is different from their 2D, and so on.

It's a really good concept.

Buy a Wii people, Super Paper Mario is one of the best games, out there :D

Liking the idea, hope it works well. Also no direspect to the programmer, but I seriously hope Ninty see this and get it done themselves as this would work as a mainstream game.

Yeah, I think it already did.

But yeah, looking good... Looking forward to the release, keep it up.

I think adding shadows under blocks would help to know their positions, perspectives.

Uh... I don't get it.
So basically a New Super Mario Bros. land with an 8-bit Mario... Then an isometric view with the Mario & Luigi sprite... Also the isometric view looks a bit weird.

I'll try it when it's out.

Don't kill the guy, not everyone in the world(shockingly) is a fan of Mario. I think Luigi is cooler anyway but I digress...just let the man sleep without shoving a ? Block up his....well you guys get it.
