Yes, finally something without the use of Pandora.
I'll definitely be saving this... Thanks for the post CaptainMorgan4. :)

No problem Sonicboy 101 I'm just glad to have my PSP back, and yeah and I hope others can use this to avoid time consuming Pandora procedures.

edit: Why hasn't this been moved to the PSP News Section yet, it's real and it works I've tested it.

please don't lash out at me, but just checking-this will ONLY work for people who have had custom firmwares right? My psp was given to me by someone who knew nothing of the scene , and he had it upgraded to 3.52 official sony fw. so that's where my psp is at and i am looking for a way to either downgrade to 1.5 or to a good custom fw. so far i only know about pandora and was hoping for something more simple. So if anyone can help please do so , I appreciate it. thanks. :o

Thanks a bunch Captain the downgrader work like a charm on my Fat PSP, i got frustrated with my CFW 3.71 m33, my psx games kept freezing even with the 1.50 patch. I never had the same problem with 3.52 M33-4 weird. Anyways thanks again now back to 3.52 M33-4!

you will need either pandora or use one of the game exploits which requires unpatched lumnies or GTA LCS

No problems guys, yeah I just finished getting back on 3.52-2 (most stable IMO, CPU in XMB and etc) and ordering my emulators and fixing all my settings. Feels good to be back, and enjoy this downgrader. And to Donleon21 yeah this is for getting from 3.71 M33 Custom firmware to 1.5, not what you need.

well thanks anyways i thought it would have been to good to be true for me, good app for those who can use it though, good work.

does this downgrader work with psp slim with cfw 3.71 m33?

CaptainMorgan4
October 2nd, 2007, 05:34
I have not tested it with the slim, try it, it won't brick your PSP anymore than it is so you got nothing to lose. I don't really see why it won't work, please try it and post your results.

If only I would had it last week...
I havenŽt been able to get my stuff together to try the unbricker yet, but I hope tomorrow hehe, also IŽm getting a new PC on wednesday (at last, I bought the other one like 7 years ago, so you can imagine how it was, maybe IŽll restore it too so now we will use both here at my house)

Also might try this as well cause the unbricker will get it to 3.71M33, and I still want to hang around 3.52M33 a little longer, thanks for the app

Wait so no matter what type of brick you get (on 3.71 M33) it can be fixed with this?????

No matter if it's a full brick you can still access the recovery menu? I know that's kindof what it says, but i'd still like confirmation =D

Anyway, I use to think recovery menu only worked for semi-bricks

No, this is entirely not the case. If you can't access the recovery menu, then you can't use this method and pandora is the only way that'll help.

No. The PSP Slim cannot run 1.5.

Nevermind, I did it and worked flawlessly.
Now time to install 3.52 M33 again. :)

CaptainMorgan4
October 2nd, 2007, 16:34
To the one guy who says it showed up as corrupted data, looks to me that your on a Sony firmware and not a custom firmware, this application is not for you. Well yeah if you are fully bricked and can't get to recovery obviously tis isn't going to work. But if you can access Recovery then this WILL work for you, and it's INCREDIBLY easy.

Sonicboy 101

I'm om 3.71 m33+1.50cfw. What seem to be the problem. D-A would never release junk. Before u install 3.71m33 go 2 recovery and set homebrew to 3.52.
Make sure u have the rite 3.71.PBP along with the two files in the Update to the game folder. It load just like sony frame ware.
At the end press x then manually shut down ur PSP.
There u go 3.71 m33.
Now u can add the 1.50 kernel.
Finito!
No need for the downgrader this cfw is tha best.

Can I use this on a stock working psp with the 3.71 firmware? Do I still need GTA or Lumines?

U need pandora battery & magic memory stick. U can only get recovery by having a cfw.
GTA or Lumines is 4 3.50 & lower.

Shadow first go on your PSP and go the the left and look for system settings, from there go to system information, then see which firmware you are on. I don't think your on a custom firmware so this application isn't for you, but check your firmware then post back here.

Well isn't a full brick when you have no recovery menu, well i atlease consider it to be. I personally have fully bricked and it aint no fun and this can't fix it you have to get pandora. Never, ever let stupid theme flashers mess with your flash now kiddies it's a bad mistake and you'll regret it.

CaptainMorgan4
October 3rd, 2007, 00:04
Yeah Shadow this is for 3.71 M33 NOT 3.71, your on a Sony firmware, you need to downgrade. If you want to be able to play emulators and stuff you need to get on a custom firmware. To do so your ONLY choice is to search and do the Pandora Battery procedure. After you downgrade to 1.5 using Pandora then you can go to a custom firmware, for instance 3.71 M33. This application just downgrades the custom firmware 3.71 to 1.5, it's not what you need. Thanks to all you guys who used this and enjoyed it, glad to hear it's of use to some people.

shadow_la05
October 3rd, 2007, 01:23
oh ok so if i do the pandora battery i can use the emulators and stuff right. but does the pandorabattery work on any psp sony firmware? cuz i found the pandora battery but its requirements say i need a customfirmware such as OE,M33, WC or psp with the 1.5 original kernel.

You need a PSP that can run homebrew - or someone who has access to one - to create a pandora's battery and the accompanying memory stick (you need both for the process to work).

CaptainMorgan4:

I can't help but notice that his method is exactly the same as that posted by Ratatella in this post (http://www.dcemu.co.uk/vbulletin/showpost.php?p=526149&postcount=44) which was a direct response to a request from you for help.

I further notice that you repacked it, stripped out his readme, replaced it with your own, and removed all references to Samhain who provided the files used in the first place.

I further notice that you have neglected to credit either in your own news post.

Perhaps you might like to rectify these things?

CaptainMorgan4
October 7th, 2007, 18:09
Oh yeah I found that from the boy and I just made it more easy with the files already in the folders. Then I just made a new readme, that guy that supplied that downgrader in that post didn't know who created it either, he just found it. That's why I didn't give credit to anyone, I'm not sure who made the downgrader but I just made it easier and more simple. You can give credit to whoever, it's just a recovery that just was modified to work for 3.71, not too hard to make. So yeah you can take it however you want but bottomline I really don't care I just wanted my PSP back.

edit: Yeah I just looked at that UPDATED version of his post, before he edited he didn't know who created it so I didn't list a name, enjoy downgrading people and remember read the first post if you have any questions.

Make sure your using the correct NOUMD in the recovery like you said, set it to the Sony NP900 or whatever and try again. If that doesn't work try a converting your ISO's or something. I only use the Madden 08 iso and it works fine.

Vijay I'm not sure what your saying your typing is all messed up, but yeah you can downgrade from 3.71 M33 to 1.5 with this, you can try from 3.52 I don't see there being a big problem. To Stfu, if your downloading it and on your desktop it says corrupted data then you probably need WinRar to extract it, but if your putting it on your PSP and it's corrupt then you need a different program because this one is not for you.

To all the idiots out there looking to see if this runs on they're PSP, first check the FIRST PAGE for information but MAKE SURE YOUR ON 3.71 M33 CUSTOM FIRMWARE. Safer? There isn't a way to brick using this downgrader, this way is simpilar though all you do is put 2 files in the GAME folder and then click X in the recovery menu and your back to 1.5 in less than 2min. Glad to see your back but I think you should have used this but it's cool.

Are you on 3.71 M33 or just 3.71? If you are just on firmware 3.71 you need to do the Pandora Battery process. That's the only way to recover from that firmware, unless your on the M33 3.71, in which you could use this. Good luck, just go google Pandora's Battery.

No problem glad I could help, this program was obviously used by someone who doesn't know what they're doing. They didn't meet the proper requirements so he shouldn't have used this program but instead he did and now he's bricked. I'm happy to brick anyone who is stupid enough not to read and see if what they are doing is right for them. Super6mix you obviously weren't on 3.71 M33 or you didn't follow the easiest instructions ever. No one before you has bricked and judging by this being your first post you either are lying or just an idiot, take your pick. Either way I'm happy to have another person who doesn't know what they're doing and is too lazy to try to figure out stuff be bricked, keeps em away from annoying us regulars.

Gonna have to find another solution.

Sonicboy 101
November 20th, 2007, 22:07
You don't HAVE to be semi bricked. I already said that lol. Look here:

Yeah this is MEANT for semi-bricked PSP's because the recovery menu is what it's run through and that's all you can access with a semi-brick. But yeah you can use this on a regular 3.71 M33 PSP too. To all the idiots out there looking to see if this runs on they're PSP, first check the FIRST PAGE for information but MAKE SURE YOUR ON 3.71 M33 CUSTOM FIRMWARE. This is NOT for JUST 3.71 SO STOP ASKING PEOPLE, why can't some of you just read?
Captainmorgan please update the first post saying this.

Can I just check that I'm doing this right?

It never seems to have any effect.

I hold R and turn my PSP on to enter the recovery menu. I toggle the USB on, and copy the two folders into PSP/GAME. Then I use "Run program at /PSP/GAME/RECOVERY/EBOOT.PHP.

Then the screen goes dark, and the top light on the left flashes orange a couple of times. Then the PSP boots as normal, and I go to check the firmware, only to find that it's still 3.71 m33-2.

Any ideas about what's wrong?

Make sure you have the file(s) placed in the correct folders and that the folders are labled correctly and placed in the right directory on your memory stick pro duo.

Just a quick question. If this proess was to somehow brick your PSP, could one be able to restore one's own backup of his or her NAND to the motherboard of the PSP to return the system back to it's previous state? Exactly how difficult is it to restore a NAND on your own PSP using either Pandora Battery with a logical restore or Dark_AleX's Desperatar del Cementerio V3 with a physical restore? What is the difference between the two types of restores? (Logical & Physical) I know how to go about backing up the NAND for my unit, that much is simple, but how would I restore a NAND dump from NAND-DUMP.bin on the memorystick using either process? Is it even safe? I would greatly apperciate anyones feedback on this mattter. Thanks.

I would assume so Rad. Before coming across this thread I posted a thread about a problem I have which people thought wasn't about the firmware. Anyway I thought upgrading to -3 would fix my problem but it didn't, hopefully this will solve my problems. I just wish people would read the first post, and read that if your firmware doesn't have M33 at the end then this won't work for you.

You are bricked, can you access the recovery menu at all? If you can just try this again and you should be fine, not sure what went wrong. Not working for me. I have a 3.71m33-4 semi bricked phat psp. I can access recovery menu. I used another psp(ofw) to add the recovery and update folders to the ms. I then went to recovery menu and tried to run the eboot but all i get is a black screen.

I somehow messed something up in the flash0. Thats why i have a semi brick. I downloaeed a flash0 back up but i still get a blank screen whenever i try to start up my psp.

Holla2k try putting the files on the memory stick from the recovery menu (use the toggle USB option) and just hook your PSP up to the PC like you would normally. Then just try again, please people make sure your doing everything right, this downgrader works so get it to work for you.

If you have a fat PSP (PSP 1000) then you need to install the 1.50 Kernel Addon for 3.80 from Dark_Alex first, and then enable it through the recovery menu...

That said, so far I have only had success with the one in the UPDATE folder (but only after adding the ipl_update.prx & lflash_fatfmt.prx files to the folder) - not too sure what I must be doing wrong as I cannot get it to run under the RECOVERY menu (from the RECOVERY folder), the screen goes black, the ms flashes briefly and then nothing...

Still it does work under the update folder so I have actually got a working 1.50 OFW PSP

Yeah when I run it from the XMB i get an error saying missing ipl_update.prx & lflash_fatfmt.prx files. So do I get those two files or the kernel add-on or what?

January 26th, 2008, 17:02
You definitely need to have the ipl_update.prx & lflash_fatfmt.prx files to run this under the update folder from the game menu from the XMB (the 1.50 kernel addon does not seem to be a necessity tho - just tried it without...)

Edit: Ok, you do need the 1.50 kernel addon if you do it through the recovery menu, just not if you can get to the XMB and run the PSP Update ver X.yz file under the game menu...

I can run the update through the XMB, so where do I get the ipl_update.prx & lflash_fatfmt.prx files and where do I put them?

You can get the prx files here (http://mihd.net/cnsebp) and they need to be installed into the \PSP\GAME\UPDATE folder

As I said earlier, I still have not had success in getting this to work from the recovery menu - just the XMB...

Works brilliantly, thanks!
And in completely unrelated news, is it safe for me to install 3.71 m33 directly on 1.5?

CaptainMorgan4
January 27th, 2008, 17:13
Yes but then you have to do 3.71 m33-4 after that, why not just go to 3.80 m33.

chuchugaga
January 27th, 2008, 17:28
Because I already had 3.80 m33, I needed 3.71 m33-4 because I wanted to watch YouTube on my PSP and PSPTube didn't work on 3.80, it said "PSPTube for CFW 3.71."

etc.

CaptainMorgan4

PSPTube works on 3.80 M33, get the 1/14/08 version of psptube it works fine on my 3.80 M33.

Edit: okay scrap that, that's only for the slim PSPs.

Okay listen to this:

PSPTube didn't seem to work on my CFW so I downgraded my PSP 3.80 m33-5 to 1.50 after much googling to find a way without Pandora, then I upgraded to 3.52 m33, then 3.52 m33-4, then 3.71 m33-4, and reran PSPTube which still didn't work @ I couldn't find a place to type my search in, which was the earlier problem. Then I realized that I was in the Favorites folder and all I had to do in the first place was to press select to switch to YouTube and then enter my search.
Brilliant.

Has anyone had success in running this under the Recovery menu on 3.80 M33-5 yet?

If so please can you advise of which files need to be in what folder, as I still have not had success in running it from there (I can run it perfectly fine from the XMB with the added prx's quoted above)

If it is any help, I am currently running 3.80 M33-5 with the 1.50 Kernel add on (it is a Phat PSP TA-081)

I hate to sound rhude but why does it matter if you can just already do it from the XMB?

boo128
January 29th, 2008, 13:56
Reason because, if I get a semi-brick, I will not be able to get to the XMB - I just wanted to be lazy and have an alternate option to the Pandora for downgrading if things go wrong...

this is a good thread, but i cant get it working, On 3.80 m33-5, Ive done the 3.80 1.5 addon, and then run this program, I get a lot of errors and at the end it says press x, And nothing happens, i have to take the battery out, and put back in, then im still on 3.80 m33-5, Im trying this on my fat psp,

Looks like boo128 has the same prob, Does it just not work on 3.80 m33-5 ?

CaptainMorgan4

No it works just make sure your files that you downloaded from here aren't corrupt or something. Just review everything carefully and try again, if it doesn't work for you try boo128 XMB way.

No Boo128 the guy that you mentioned in your last post. I was trying to say use his method, from doing this downgrader from the XMB. I suggest you PM him, and see if he can help you out.

XMB is the menu-system on the PSP. So when you're scrolling left or right, and eventually up and down to choose whatever on your PSP, that's using the XMB.

@mohis No this just shows up as corrupt data under the 3.90 M33 CFW (tested on a Phat with the 1.50 Kernel Add On installed)

Update
This will work on the 3.90 M33 firmware with the 1.50 Kernel Add On installed, but ONLY from the XMB - to make it work you need to copy the prx files (from the post on page 21 of this thread) into the PSP\GAME\UPDATE folder first.

Still not had success as yet to make it work from the Recovery menu though...

It's not running. I copied the files to the GAME>RECOVERY folder and it says "The game could not be started. (8002013C)" Please, I need my psp, it's really one of the few things I have that I can talk to my friends with. I copied all of the files correctly, and it still won't run. I'm using CFW 5.00 M33-4. I need help.
