News from StoneCut (http://www.irshell.org/showthread.php?tid=449)

iR Shell 3.7
This release mainly adds support for M33 3.71 CFW for PSP Phat with a few other enhancements.

New Features:

Added support for M33 3.71 CFW for PSP Phat.
Screen redirection via Tyranid's remotejoy. UMD Game compatibility has also been enhanced and save/load dialog boxes will no longer crash. Thanks to Tyranid for making this possible.
2 Player PSOne games via usbhostfs/nethostfs keypad direction using 2 PC joysticks/keyboard. Screen redirection via remotejoy is also supported for PSone games.
Support for M33 popsloader when iR Shell running under M33 3.52 CFW. Only the latest verion popsloader is supported (that is, the one for pops from 3.00 to 3.52). All other previous versions of popsloader won't work with iR Shell. If you're running iR Shell under M33 3.71, the "POP Version" setting in iR Configurator is ignored. This is due to popsloader currently doesn't work with M33 3.71 due to changing NIDs by Sony.
Support for M33 UMD Video ISO feature under iR Shell File Browser. This will also work with USBHostFS & NETHostFS. Again, for legally owned backups only.
The number of iR Shell EBOOTs for various firmwares have been consolidated into just 2. One for firmware 1.5, and the other for firmware 2.x/3.x. This should make it earier for users.
A new autoboot seplugin is introduced to replace the old "irsfw30x.prx". This plugin will work under all firmware versions, including 3.71.
NOTE: The PSX 2 Player Adhoc is still in alpha & very unstable. It will not be included in this release.

Special Thanks to:

Dark_AleX/Team M33 for bringing us the incredible custom firmware. Our PSPs won't be the same without this masterpiece.
Tyranid and other developers in ps2dev.org for creating the pspsdk. Without their contributions, we don't even have homebrews on PSP.
All iR Shell beta testers, donators, skins & plugin contributors.

If?? I really hope its not an if :(.. it should be as easy as dropping the ir functions and 1.5 kernal switch right?

IRshell HEAVILY relies on the 1.5 kernal. Pretty much 75% of the options within it need it.

It isnt as simple as porting, he would have to totally rewrite the whole thing, with LESS options in it for a SLIM release

Fantastic.

Actually that is not entirely true. The 3.xx EBOOT is completely independent of any 1.5 subset. However, the Slim's hardware and firmware is significantly different from the PSP Phat which is the main reason (among others).

Edit
Actually I wanted to post the news here, too, but for some reason I couldn't create a thread in any of the forums. I have no idea why.

That's odd. I understand not being able to post directly in the news forum, but not anywhere?

But then it would become "No IR Shell: PSP slim version" :p

Oh right. Sorry i mustve been in my own little world. I thought that the 3.xx still needed the 1.5 though, as i thought it the CFW psp had to be in 1.50 mode.

Argh i dont know lol. Your probably right though.

Nope, he's DEFINITELY right. Come on, it's StoneCut. The whole idea of a 3.xx kernel is to be independent from the 1.5 kernel, so it doesn't rely on the 1.5 firmware at all. It simply won't work on the Slim yet, though, because that's different. But anyway, while you guys wait support for the PSP Slim, how about showing some support for iR Shell while possibly winning prizes by simply creating skins for the iRShell.org Skinning Contest (http://www.dcemu.co.uk/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=75584)!

Umm does anyone else have NO SKINS to choose from in this version? Then I went to my old folder to grab some skins and the folder was gone. Anyone else having issues similar to this?

StoneCut

The SKINS are not included with iR Shell by default anymore. Please check the original release thread for the Skins pack.

What kernel are you running in? 1.5 homebrew will only run in the 1.5 kernel and 3.x homebrew will only run in the 3.x kernel. Now I'm curious about the link you sent him lol...

Anyone know if it also supports UMD's through the RemoteJoy thing?

By default iR Shell 3.xx EBOOT will launch. This is most useful for running PS1games, UMDs/ISOs and 3.xx homebrew.

Most homebrew is for 1.5 kernel, however. Please switch to 1.5 EBOOT of iR Shell with L+R Trigger and then choosing SQUARE. Or launch the 1.5 EBOOT from Game menu in XMB (it's the red icon).

Yes, but it currently only works under 1.5 EBOOT which means you will require a full 1.5 dump for devhook (not devhook itself, only the 1.5 dump) on your memory stick. You are also restricted to UMDs up to 1.5 this way unfortunately. This may or may not change at some point, we'll see. Check the User Guide for info on how to use UMD Video under 1.5 EBOOT.

Is there a way for me to run irshell without all this new "Autoboot" nonsense?

DarthPaul

Yes Parker, it runs normally by default. To run this autoboot you have to enable a plug-in in the Recovery Menu. ;)

OK this 3.xx and 1.50 eboot stuff is confusing me so hopefully I will be able to figure it out without much difficulty. I would love to see a version that allows us to have multiplayer in any emulator or game. Also, if we could get a Remotejoy GUI that gives us these multiplayer features in Linux that would be great. And last thing, if we could use part of the source of DScaler in order to upscale the picture that the PSP outputs to the computer's screen then that would be the ultimate feature.

I couldn't start it without using autoboot. that's with game folder set for 1.5 kernel OR 3.57. Also, it crashes when I try to use the remote function with:

Failed to find mod:
sceSIRCS_IrDA_Driver
click any key to continue

but buttons do nothing. I just wait until it shuts down.

EDIT: Ok it DOES start... I was trying to start using the old icon. The new icon works. Now I have to see why I have 2 icons...

crap.. I have 3 folders! PSP/GAME/IRSHELL and irshell2x3x and PSP/GAME150/IRSHELL

well... looks like the remote works just fine on the old Icon I already had (for 1.5 but it's in /game folder not game150) so I don't really get this new one...

If the app crashes for you then you must have some other problems. Please try to disable any other plguins you may be using. As for your infrared issue - what to do is written in the User Guide and FAQ. READ THEM !

You need a decrypted sircs.prx from FW3.52 in /IRSHELL/SYSTEM if you want infrared on FW3.71. That's because Sony removed infrared support in 3.71.

urherenow
October 4th, 2007, 06:09
still don't understand, really. That prx isn't in my setup as it is now and my 3.6 or whatever version of irshell works fine with the remote.

You did get me with the manual though. I'm not even a noob and I used to flame people pretty hard for that. I'm reading it now also because this thing does lost of stuff I've never tried before!

thanks for you input :D

All I can say is.. WOW. I was turned off at first because of the default skin (and the remote not working) but now I got the remote working, and tried the skins for the first time... I'm only sorry it's too late for me to try out the hostfs thing and remotejoy_display_on_my_pc_monitor thing. I'll be playing with this tomorrow without a doubt until smallville comes on :D

Snapshot/Screenshots apparently don't work anymore, and Ahman made little to no documentation of this..

...-sighs-.... Could someone possibly PM me with the missing file for IR support.. I'd have done this myself if they made some kind of note of this before releasing it to the masses.

Is there anyway I could get the 1.50 Eboots such as PSPRevolution working from the 3.71? Could there be a patched version or something? Cause I'd prefer it if I didn't have to switch between 3.71 / 1.50 to use my homebrew games.

pspfan
October 5th, 2007, 02:28
No. You'll have to switch to the 1.5 kernel to load 1.5 homebrews. It's just a simple L+R keypress...

I dunno if this helps (more useful if you don't autoboot into irshell) but Recovery LE for 3.71 M33 v2 works perfectly for that! Switch kernels on the fly ;)

Thanks for your answers. So I suppose my next question would be, is there any way I can get remotejoy working for 1.50? I've got everything configured fine on both 3.71 & 1.5 , their the same setup files, however joypad input is only recognized while in 3.71, unless I'm missing something here?

What i've done is just a stock install of IRShell 3.7 and sorted the configuration, I've got usbhostfs working as I said, but remotejoy is only working on 3.71

Hello,

This release is great....but, all the pop games I've tried so far under Irshell3x(Sotn, MK3, Crash Bandicoot Trilogy) freeze up at any given time with the remotejoy plugin....I don't know why.

They play fine and everything shows up in my PC monitor like it should with controller redirection and all, but it's just a random freeze problem at any given moment during gameplay...the funny thing is IRshell is still active in the background and CAN be reset or even exit from. I'd like to know if this could be fixed?

On another subject, it's soooooo awesome there's no need for pressing F5 (video out cancel) anymore when loading a UMD save. Metal Gear Solid Portable Ops never ran smoother on my PC! Oh, and homebrew emulators like SNES9xTYL load up on the big screen too!!!....Before I only got the menu to show up and freeze, but I guess this was due to me using the 0.4.2ME version before on remotejoy....lol.

I am also able to run the Daedalus R12 Eboot, which I have on my GAME150 folder, too in remotejoy GUI  which has me all weirded out, since it's not 3xx fw compiled....Oh, well....This is amazing!!!

BTW, this is all happening on my 3.40 LE Custom firmware Phat.

Ahman, Stonecut and others....Great release!!

OK... I'm almost sold. One of my major gripes had been the schizm between kernels. The L+R shortcut removes that concern. There's just one gripe left, and it's a relatively small one:

Why is there no progress readout when copying files?

It's really hard to be patient with transferring files over nethost if I don't know if there's any progress actually being done. Maybe this was fixed in the latest version.... I haven't tried 3.7 yet. But if not, I implore you to patch this so I can use this utility without reservation!

October 10th, 2007, 22:34
for infrared thing do you have to have anything else speical to use it, and why can't they use a button for 1.5 hombrew loading [when the menu come up asking if you want to play or cancel] like press cross for 3.XX homebrew and press circle for 1.50 homebrew then u don't have to worry about pressing L+R then square to switch to 1.50 cos it takes ages just to switch just for some 1.50 homebrew stuff (well just an idea not sure if can be done)

Guide: How to get the IR working in iR Shell v3.7 with firmware 3.71 M33 (http://irshell.org/showthread.php?tid=495).

Sony removed the file in firmware 3.71, so you have to copy it from an earlier dump into the SYSTEM folder of iR Shell for it to work.
