Hiya all :)

Well i havent tried out any POI functions yet, ive been buissy with other stuff ( making guides etc. and working ) but now when i got my new Car Volvo S80 T6 im shure to have a ledded foot and rush by a speedcamera for sure

Ive searched the net for some Free databases for the Swedish market and i came up with these:

http://www.speedcam.tk/ - Swedish site with POIS for Navman, Grmin and TomTom

Navman files:
http://www.bostream.nu/bondersbyn/navigator/navman_fartkameror.csv - All speedcams 30-110KmH
http://www.bostream.nu/bondersbyn/navigator/navman_pay.csv - Road Toll cameras
http://www.bostream.nu/bondersbyn/navigator/ikoner.html - Icons

Cordinates formated as followed in the .csv file:
17.96506, 59.52733, "K268W04@70"
18.23421, 59.56021, "K268W09@50"
12.94945, 56.76970, "K26N02@90"

Garmin files:
http://www.bostream.nu/bondersbyn/navigator/garmin_fartkameror.csv - All speedcams 30.110KmH
http://www.bostream.nu/bondersbyn/navigator/garmin_pay.csv - Road Toll Cameras
http://www.bostream.nu/bondersbyn/navigator/ikoner.html - Icons

Coordinates formated as followed in .csv file:
16.52221, 56.68847, "K136N08@70"
16.69136, 56.87903, "K136S01@50"
16.61720, 56.83281, "K136S04@90"

TomTom files:
http://www.bostream.nu/bondersbyn/navigator/tomtom_fartkameror.ov2 - All speedcams 30-110KmH
http://www.bostream.nu/bondersbyn/navigator/tomtom_pay.ov2 - Road Toll Cameras
http://www.bostream.nu/bondersbyn/navigator/ikoner.html - Icons

Cant open up the file in a nice way to see coords, it seems to be compiled for TomTom :)

And some Mio files here: http://www.takes.se/Short_eng.htm

Because im a rookie at POI and usage i wanted to ask anyone that reads this if it would be possible to convert these to use with MapThis ;)

For a better world

Not just possible, but rather easy as well :). Anyone with decent understanding of scripting (or VIM :D) can at least convert the CSV files (you just need to swap latitude and longitude and remove extra spacing).

As for the OV2 files, you can convert these to CSV files using the ov2tools from http://www.tomtom.com/support/ce/support/nav_poi.php.

Here german speedcam carmin csv file.

- use this rar decompress it.

- open GMDL and go to POIS

- set the camera-icon

- klick the button CSV file and search you decompressed folder with the csv from garmin.

- now the list ist coming

-name your file to _blitzer for example

- push save and ready ;)

_ copy the file in your mapfolder

hi PDG, after you converted the csv/ov2 files in the right format for mapthis you also need an extra manual task to use them for example with a sound.. here is how my speedcamera pois are setted

I just got a e.mail from the owner of Speedcam.tk and hopefully he will add ready made files for PSP on his site :)

If he does not have space to host the files i would gladly donate some space on my servers *Lol*

I got some replies from the owner of speedcam.tk and he asked me if the configfiles could be formatted like this:

13.27141,55.53639,K:108N01,90 KMH,
13.25691,55.55859,K:108N02,90 KMH,

14.93446,58.46471,K:50S16,70 KMH ,Vinter 90"

14.86494,57.63528,K:33E04,90 KMH,
14.83655,57.64076,K:33W02,90 KMH,,Sommar 70"

He went with KMH instead of MPH because we use the KM system in Europe and the ,Vinter 90" option is a change of speed in Winter on the same road. and the ,,Sommar 70" is a change of speed under summer on the same road.

What do you guys think, is this setup doable ?

If your input file is just a different text-based format, which also contains these values, clearly separated by commas e.g., then no problem :).

Ooh cool so this file would do then: http://www.vampire.se/misc/psp/misc/psp_swe_test.txt

Sorry if i seam slow today, i havent experimented with POIs and im dead tierd right now, been up for 28 hours ;)

Do you know if it is possible to put poi files and let MapThis read info from this file and show pois on already generated maps ?
Or do you have to read the pois before you generate your maps ?

Would be super if you could put poi files on your memstick and let MapThis show new pois on the fly
"This would save time and not force people to generate new maps from Google etc." i was thinking about the google maps IP number lockout after xxx map downloadings.

Nieko

That file would do indeed :). You simple have to swap longitude and latitude and make sure text like "Sommar 70" is placed in another field.

POI files are independent of maps, they are simply drawn on top of them. If you place POI files in /PSP/COMMON, you can even use them in all the maps you have.

Very nice :)
Ill tell the owner of Speedcams.tk to swap the long/lat and maby drop the extra info then :)

I think he converted a .csv file and i wonder what format the pois should be in to work.
.csv or does any other format i drop in /PSP/Common/ work ?

The name of the POI file should be something like "_YOURNAMEHERE" (the underscore is important!). You can place it in /PSP/COMMON (so it works for every map), or in specific map folders only.

The format of the file itself is: [lat],[lon],[description1 37 characters long],[description2 60 char long],[sound integer]

Very nice, thanx for the info :)
I just sent him an e-mail and await his reply

If i only knew the coords of the speedcams near me i could flip long/lat in his files and go out and test at least three cams out ;)

But as the old Swedish saying says: The one who waits for something good... (Swe: Den som väntar på något gott!)

BTW, you can add sound alert(s) to your speedtraps..
just create an mp3 file: messageXXX.mp3 (XXX is some number) and drope it to system/sounds

After that just add that number as last field in the POI definition line
55.38781,13.15191,K:108S16,70 KMH,XXX,
55.41053,13.16719,K:108N10,90 KMH,XXX,
......
Of course you can have different sound alerts for each camera, if you wish to :-)

About the xxx funktion.
Is it possible to have it after the Letter for North South East West?

If its possible its very easy for me to insert the funktion in file
its more work for me to put it in the end

EXAMPLE:
55.41053,13.16719,K:108N,WWW,10,90 KMH,
55.38781,13.15191,K:108S,XXX,16,70 KMH,
55.41053,13.16719,K:108W,YYY,10,90 KMH,
55.38781,13.15191,K:108E,ZZZ,16,70 KMH,

I can also make a file with common swedish police Lasercontrols (505 places)

Any one who wants the file to 110 Whisky Distilleries? :)

Fist test today "A foggy day on Huddigngevägen" with my PSP-290 went fine, the PSP marked up info on the screen as i passed by the Speedcameras about 100 meters before passing it, just as my picture i posted before did.

Now to the more nifty thing to add a .mp3 that alerts when closing in on that Speedcam Poi :)

And Lasercontrols would be cool to :)
I can se a bright future with diffrent sounds for Cameras, Lasers and tollcameras :)

Hi guys, can't get it to work. Don't hear a thing. What to do? I have a speedcam file name: ovl 0003 (originally tomtom OV2 but converted with GMDL)
location: 50,86992,3.60739
message090, added to SOUNDS, opened POIedit and changed the file to 50.86992,3.60739,ovl0003,90 KMH,090. Hope it make some sense. What did I do wrong? Or can you only listen to the message when GPS mode is on (don't have a reciever yet but I ordered one from Yes Asia). One more question, what does the K:108 mean?

www.speedcam.tk
November 16th, 2007, 15:36
Example: 55.38781,13.15191,K:108S16,70 KMH,
K=Kamera (swedish word for Camera)
108=Roadnumber
S=South
16=number to avoid several cameras from having the same name

Me happens too. Have message051.mp3,...,message058.mp3 and poi file with speedcams with 51..58 sound numbers asigned, but when i test on mapthis no sound is played when i go to speedcam poi.
