View Full Version : Data Source idea

Ok... preface.

I am not a coder. I'm barely code-literate. However, I wonder if it would be possible to implement a different data source and make it easier to create larger, more useful maps. To that end, here are a few open source map projects I've found. They all seem to be using TIGER data, so the datasets are free, and it seems that a vector-based approach would increase the amount of territory coverable, maybe even allowing countrywide coverage, given a large enough memory stick. Would any of this help? Has it already been discussed? Just curious.

Thanks

Deniska is already working on this. He has had some success.

Agreed. Perhaps, since the above projects are all open source, being able to see/utilize their code may assist deniska in implementing vector format maps more easily. Thanks for the info.
