Hi All,

I'm pleased to announce the first release of PSPWrite a simple text editor for the PSP.
This editor should be easier to use than Notepad (part of PSP-PDA project).

It permits to edit even huge text file, in both dos and unix mode, using iso8859-1 (8bits) characters encoding. All iso8859-1 characters are present in the "Danzeff like" virtual keyboard.

The IR keyboard support is based on the work of Harald Fielker (author of the PSP IR Keyboard Library) with a new patch from Craig to support Sprint PCS IR keyboard.

It has been developed on linux for Firmware 1.5 and 3.40-OE, and for the IR keyboard
part it has been tested using a Targus Universal IR Wireless keyboard.

How to use it ? Everything is in the README.txt file.

Sources are included, and this package is under the GNU public license,
read COPYING.txt file for more information about it.

You can download it on my blog : http://zx81.zx81.free.fr/

Enjoy,

Zx.

*UPDATE: A new version has been uploaded that fix a big bug that makes this homebrew to crash :( *

Yeah ZX!

You are sweet and very loyal to the scene, and for that, I love you. Haha. :p I still need the iR Keyboard, I want the best experience possible.[for your apps]

thank you for this nice, little app, ZX :)

yeah would be nice if you can enable iR keyboard support (if it's not too much of course)

keep it up! I'm looking forward to it!

np, btw i've devlopped this simple homebrew mainly because psp-pda wasn't comfortable with Ir-keyboard, and it was really a nightmare to write simple text even using the IR-keyboard.

Using PSPWrite, i can enter text as if i was in front of a PC, so i can write C++/C code on my PSP now even when i'm in a bus or in the subway :D

Would it be possible to one day implement this into PSP-PDA. Actually it would be good if you had all you applications in PDA-PSP, but many people would probably get confused with the setup.

I and definitely going to buy a ir keyboard now. What would you recommend? I want to get the cheapest working keyboard possible.
I'm thinking this (http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=300159199189&ru=http%3A%2F%2Fsearch.ebay.com%3A80%2Fsearch%2Fse arch.dll%3Ffrom%3DR40%26_trksid%3Dm37%26satitle%3D 300159199189%26category0%3D%26fvi%3D1) Or this (http://item.express.ebay.com/Palm-Portable-Keyboard-V-Series-NIB-OEM_W0QQitemZ130161418810QQihZ003QQcmdZExpressItem ) Are either of them compatible? If yes, then I'm definitely willing to put up $10 for something this nice.

I've only tested with targus keyboard, but it should work also with Palm keyboard.

Really useful app! thanks so much,

Few little things I'd like to see changed,

Instead of having lines keep going along, how about it automatically starting anew line after filling width?

Also for keys such as backspace can it be setup to keep backspacing until key release - for example if I want to delete a sentence that is 40 characters long I have to press backspace 40 times.

Oh btw I use the Targus keyboard

Many Thanks,
Mike

a new version is out ... but all the features you required are not yet implemented

for the backspace, you can use the clear key (in danzeff keyboard) or Ctrl-L on your Targus to reset the line
