Good news for all Streetfighter fans.

A teaser video has appeared on gametrailers.com from Capcom showing Streetfighter IV.

Not many details are in the video, but its quite exciting news to think the franchise has been revived.

Check the video here: http://www.gametrailers.com/player/26535.html

One to look out for. :D

Holy Mother of Master Chief!?!?!?!?!?!

Capcom can count to 4.
This is the special moment in every parent's life when they see their child do something that we take for granted and do it for the first time. I brings a tear to your eyes.

Jokes aside, I will ass rape the hell out of this game until it either my hands say no more, or the console controller breaks down in agony along with the console.

O my God..... I think I just jizzed in my pants!
Hope they fill in the story gaps they left in Street Fighter 3, and they should also bring some of those characters back.

Dudley's story is done (unfortunately).

Elena's story is done.

Sean's story is just beginning.

Sakura needs to come back this time to the main series ( alpha is a spin-off of sorts thats part of the continuum) if only to end her story.

Karin is sakura's rival so she can go in.

Having bison or gill would not be bad, but having a new boss is not bad either.

Q is a must only because he is still is a big unknown.

The same for Twelve since he became self-aware.

Akuma's story need to be finished. He was showing age in Street Fighter 3 so he needs to either go the way of Gen or retire, but he should be in the game.

Oro's relationship with Ryu needs to be elaborated on more.

Remy's quest needs to be resolved.

Urien's takeover needs to be resolved.

Dan...well......

Alex is a must because he wa starting to fill in Ryu's shoes as a lead on Street Fighter (he in ryu's place as to where ryu was in street fighter 1 and 2).

More as I think about it.

CAPCOM USA. I forgive you for all the mistakes in the past. This made up for all of that. A remake of Street Fighter 1 would be nice.;) ;)

I get the feeling it might come out for Arcade, as well as next gen consoles, but it's just a feeling. I don't think the Wii will be getting this any time soon.

It's quite possible that Capcom map choose to go with an entirely new cast of characters. If you look at the first version of SF3 the only returning characters were Ryu and Ken. It was originally planned to leave them out, but later decided to include them in the character lineup after an overwhelming response from the community.

I doubt the story will continue from SF3. Apart from some family ties between characters (Yun & Yang are the grandsons of Gen and Chun Li is their aunt somehow, etc..) there has never really been any direct story ties between the games. In SF2, each character had their own storyline that had little interaction with the other characters. Alpha, the focus is mainly on killing Bison and ending Shadowlaw/loo. SF3, stop Gill etc.

To be honest, since there is so little known about SF4 at this point, I'm more looking forward to SSF2T HD Remix. At least with that one there wont be any unfortunate surprises.

Of course, this is all just IMO. I'm excited, just as you all are about the news, but I'm not holding my breath. I'm still hurting from Fighting Evolution :(

Hmmm... I can't seem to find a WORD about this on Capcom's Japan page.....If this is a fake.... i will be the most disapointed creature in the cosmos.... and if it's not, my Guile will Rule over you ALL! hahaha, or Remy who is clearly the bastard son of Guile and Cammy, c'mon think about it.

Also, 3D streetfighter with 2D rules is the effing BEST! I could play EX2 for the rest of ALL TIME!

Famitsu's website mentions it though:

Crap translation:
Street Fighter - It's Capcom's lauded 2D fighting game series. And now work has begun on the newest game in the series, Street Fighter IV. SFIV is the first numbered game in the series in ten years, the last being 1997's SFIII. On "Street Fighter World," an official Capcom site aimed at the U.S. market, a trailer is now up of a fight unfolding between series protagonists Ken and Ryu. Anyone interested should check out the site right away!

So yeah, the site is owned by Capcom. The thing is, the game was announced in the UK, not in Japan, I guess because the series has lost some momentum in Japan (though you can still find SFIII machines in a lot of arcades). But no, it's not a hoax.

man... how could it be fake? did you see the damn trailer?? Its real my friend!
And I hope the story doesn't continue after Street Fighter 3... too many silly stories. I hope they begin new stories but keeping back references.
Also, its kinda obvious that this will be a multi-platform release. Its Street Fighter for christ sakes. Capcom show much love to Microsoft these days and PS3 will certainly get a taste of SFIV... Its the Wii I'm worried about.

Rumour has it that streetfighter 4 is a capcom USA project... which could be bad news. :(

I'm not worried, Capcom knows that this is their flagship series. One thing that DOES worry me though, is: "is SFIV just the NAME being used on the HD high-rez update to streetfighter turbo I've heard is being done for XboX & PS3 online play..."
Someone in the know, say it ain't so!!! I think we are all, after a DECADE, starving for something NEW!

the SF series stays true to the classics. I felt perfectly comfortable playing EX and EX2 because while the engine changed the gameplay felt very very similar. A few new characters and stages wont effect the gameplay much, so I am not really concerned with who is producing it.

I’m pretty sure Capcom USA created the travesty that is ‘Capcom Fighting Jam’.

I personally much prefer the Japanese style artwork, plus for the SF games they are much lazier than the Jap created stuff.

A friend of mine heard it on the jammaplus forums that capcom USA are the ones who announced SF4 so it is likely to be their project. Capcom Japan created the original (and best) SF games including Vs series and SF3 and Alpha, the only new thing capcom USA thought of was the additions for Super Streetfighter of T Hawk, Dee Jay, Fei Long & Cammy – not the best (in my opinion) characters in the world! lol

I wouldn’t even be surprised if capcom USA got other developers to program SF4 as they might not be up to it themselves? Sure the Ex games were playable, but they were hardly worthy of the SF license (although saying that I’ve been canning them lately on pops).

Fingers crossed my fears will be over nothing though and Capcom will knock out a quality fighter!

Here's the first screenshot of SFIV from the January 08 issue of EGM. http://img413.imageshack.us/img413/1204/iconeekzh0.gif

http://img187.imageshack.us/img187/7673/2090198453affb9de8c8obx9.jpg

"Though the screenshot doesn't answer this question outright, we can confirm that the game's graphics are polygonal but the gameplay is strictly 2D. There will be new moves, locations, and gameplay features, while the standard six button control scheme remains. Ryu and Ken return along with Chun-Li and Dhalsim, but beyond that the character roster is a mystery. And then there's the issue of what platform(s) the game will end up on, which at this point Capcom is keeping close to its chest (if you search 1UP's database, you'll find listings for arcade, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 versions, but those are just guesses based on the graphical quality)."

Only 2d can save the street fighter series.

2d = win
3d = fail

And i'm pretty sure this will be on all 3 next gen consoles

Some more info from Kotaku (http://kotaku.com/gaming/rumor/more-street-fighter-iv-details-pics-331057.php):

According to Blogeek, Street Fighter IV will take place some time between Super Street Fighter II Turbo and Street Fighter III, which makes the return of Chun Li and Dhalsim more understandable.

The site also mentions that the game will run at 60 frames per second, pretty necessary for fighting games of this kind, and confirms online play.

Gone is the parry system, they say, as it will be replaced by a canceling system dubbed either "Saving" or "Revenge." On the offensive side, an "Ultra" move will be available as well as the "Super" moves in the style of Super Street Fighter II.

What we don't quite believe, though, is the rumored inclusion of Sheng Long. Take it all with a grain of salt, but we're willing to believe for the time being.

It was worth the wait to see it in action. I'm looking forward to seeing more characters in motion.
