Thats right, the Slim has a diffrent connection and you cant fit a Slim cable on a Fat PSP or vice versa.

I have a holux m1000 receiver and mapthis installed on my psp. but, the receiver doesn't work on the mapthis. Right now I am trying to use a bluetooth signal from the receiver to operate. but I think I need a cable? Do I have to buy a cable to make the receive work on the mapthis? If so, what cable do I need to buy? I checked pc-mobile.net but they don't post any cable for m- 1000
thank you

If you use a FAT PSP then just make your own cable or order one from http://www.pc-mobile.net/pspgps.htm ( Code:GHPSP - $ 16.50 ) I ordered one of these and it works great with my Fat PSP and my Holux M1000.

If you want to solder your own cable for the FAT PSP take a peek here:
http://www.dcemu.co.uk/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=72462
http://www.dcemu.co.uk/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=73690

And if you have a SLIM:
http://www.dcemu.co.uk/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=77267

The PSP does not have BlueTooth *Sigh* So it cant lock on without a Serial Cable im afraid ;)

Thanks,
Zach

Deniska,
It's amazing that you came out this work:thumbup:. I have a PSP Slim (3.71 m33), a Holux GPSlim236, after I followed your work, attached the GPS onto my PSP Slim, and turned on MapThis 0.5.0ZZ, it can only show my downloaded google map, when I pressed "start" and went into "GPS Info" button, it showed "GPS STATE: OFF" among others. of course I turned on my GPS too, but I found that when I also connect my USB cable between PSP and PC, it seems want to get information from PSP's USB port(I guess that because it showed "GPS STATE: activating", but it just kept showing this), is that an original setup for PSP-290? seems it just can not hooked on to my GPSlim 236, do I need to configure something?

You can't use PSP's USB port for communication with holux devices..
and I have not release a serial port version for slim yet.. stay tuned.. it should be available soon

BTW, I am pretty much done with the serial version of MapThis! for the slim.. I still want to run some tests before I publish the binary. It should be out in a day or 2..
Get your cables ready :-)

Three days have passed………………

Yeah and for a two posting Noob that cant understand that Deniska is doing this for free and donations and maby he had to take a day off programming a freeware for reasons unknown!?
( He may be sick, or just needed a break. ) is it hard to wait just a couple of days more than two perhaps ??

Or do you suppose that people that work for free always hold their deadlines ?
Give him a break, Geeez...

Actually, I did get a bit sick, but that is not the main reason for the delay..
I was getting mixed reports from some of my testers so I wanted to investigate more.. Apparently some of the comm problems were due to a faulty cable that pc-mobile.com folks donated to me... since it was an early prototype, there was a small short in the cable, which would occur whenever the cable is moved/bent..

I had to put together a new cable myself and do some extra testing to rule out the software fault.. plus i want to patch some small memory bug in the new zoom algorithm which causes occasional lockups... so hand on for a few more days.. it's coming..

Well, I decided to post the test version (with bugs mentioned above) so people can start testing and giving feedback..
It must be ran under 3.xx kernel and should work on both thin and phat psps..
- set HOLUX4SLIM=1 to use with generic gps receiver (holux gpslim236-240, M1000-1200, etc)
- set HOULX4SLIM=0 to use with psp-290 gps unit.
Note that you need to restart the program after changing the state of this variable, as it loads the required modules on startup.

when used with generic gps unit, you can control the sound output following way:
if the serial port plugged in AFTER the program is started - the sound will be routed to internal speakers. if the serial port plug is in during the program's startup then the sound will go to headphones..

have fun..
I'll post more stable version in a few days..

Burning fuzes on either USB or the Serail wont Brick your PSP :)

I would recommend that you use a resistor just to be on the safe side and remember the saying: Better being safe than sorry :D

Hi i have 3 questions regarding this topic

1. Is this article referring to sony headphones with RC : http://www.us.playstation.com/PSP/Accessories/PSP-140UB ?

2. Does anyone know what pins are used for tv-out cable? I was wondering if i could use TV-out cable, cause i cant find remote cables in my country.

1&3) It does not refer to any specific make or model. You should be able to use any plug that fits in to your psp's serial-audio socket.
2) Try this thread: http://forums.ps2dev.org/viewtopic.php?p=65070#65070
Also, you may want to consider ordering pre-made cables or just the plugs from pc-mobile.net

hi noob here, i was trying out mapthis with a psp slim using a psp gps 290 and got horrible signals. so i bought a holux m-1200e and made a cable with using the pin outs that was provided by deniska in page 1 and i get nothing i have change the port in the config to "1" and still nothing. then i found out that there are a couple of m-1200 model. so my question is the holux m-1200e is not supported by map this ?
