Yes, but you have to have a homebrew enabled PSP to make it AKA a PSP with 1.5 or a custom firmware

Fun interesting fact: After the leds were flashing for a while, I took the battery out of my Slim. And it bricked. And I got it today. Wasn't this supposed to FIX bricks?

Hey I was using this guide to try and get homebrew capable firmware on my 3.71 slim. I have an official 1.50 fatty to try and make the battery on. However it seems that just placing eboots into the games folder wouldn't show them on the memory card list (it says no games) So I used KXploit Tool .3 and that seemed to get them to show up, and everything seemed to work fine until I had to run Desperatar del Cementerio. Since it had no %base folder I'm not sure I can use KXploit on it. When I tried to run it on the eboot in the main folder, KXploit gives no error, but the psp says it can't start the game when I try to run it... I'm so close what do I need to do?

Nevermind I found a different method that worked for me since the steps I did complete already gave me the pandora battery. Now have a happy slim with 3.71 m33-4 running. very nice.

You need to taker out the memory stick.

If it still freezes, just reboot into pandora and install it again

hey dude

great guide! thanks for giving me some hope now that my psp was bricked[i tried to downgrade but then the guy who amde the downgrader made the dumb mistake of not specifying how much free mem stick space you needed and i got bricked] but i have a few questions since some of the things in your guide arent clear.

-when you say place the firmware .pbps in the root of the mem stick do you mean DIRECTLY in the MP_ROOT folder, or inside one of the subfolders included?

-secondly, at the end of the guide you say "get BSOD" what is BSOD? is it an option i have to choose once i switch the psp on?

thanks for responding in advance.

1. No, they go on the root of your MS. The root of any directory is the first folder available. For your PSP the root is X:/ where X is any letter, usually D, E, F, or G.
2. BSoD=Blue Screen of Death. Its the blue screen you get when you have a partially bricked PSP that says press O to continue or whatever. A BSoD is never a good thing, but can often be fixed quite easily

Awesome guide!

I have a couple of issues though...

First everything goes accordingly with the tutorial, then when it's time to install the battery creator from the PSP it says:

The game could not be started (80020148)
O Back

Is that the BSoD that you spoke of??

It does that for a few emulators I try to play for some reason...

Anyways do I have to reinstall my custom firmware to fix this... or I guess I'm asking how to fix this problem... I have 3.71 m33-4 or if theres a thread on it can I get a link.. already searched :(

EDIT: Also atm I have 2 batteries... i have the sodered pandora battery, and my normal psp battery... now will I need ANOTHER battery for pandora battery?

Thanks guys keep up the great work.

Bobtentpeg
January 10th, 2008, 19:30
No this is a BSoD

and it sounds like you need to install the 1.5 kernel addon

you can grab it from www.dark-alex.org

Also, if you have a battery why are yo remaking it? O rare you just making am ore updated version of the MS

PimPeDoutGeese
January 10th, 2008, 20:13
I forgot to mention also that I had a slimline... It started out at 2.6 then I updated it (SLAP!!!!!!!!) to 3.71.

When I run the addon it says it's only for standard psp's... I'm guessing fatties.

I entered recovery mode to check the game folder homebrew kernel and changed it to 1.5... still same message. As of the moment it's still 1.5

Game could not be started blah blah blah numbers...

Any other ideas buddy? Also thanks for the help... the more I learn from you the more I can post and help others out!

Bobtentpeg
January 10th, 2008, 21:28
Ahh, shoulda mentioned the slim part ;)

The pandora installers should launch, if not head of to qj.net and search for the 3.XX installers

I was following the guide... I messed up somewhere and I know now that my psp battery is slim... didn't think it was though, didn't exactly fit in my PSP but it just stopped workin all of a sudden... oh well back to walmart.

I need to read up more on hellcats installer... I really like it but couldn't get it to work properly... couldn't get PSP to boot from card either.... However it did run/install. But I'm not COMPLETELY stupid, I did read the readme, and I followed the steps... still won't run certain brews and it should....

I MUST BE MISSING A STEP LOL ARGG... Thanks for the help guys.

Is there a way for me to reinstall CFW?? I wonder if that's even the issue here...

EDIT: Well I dunno if it's the battery or not but it powers on... but after some of the .txt changes that were made it boots to notihng. Black Screen... just led... kinda like a pand...... man I look stupid lol but still cant boot certain brews... somethings up cant run anything that needs 1.5 and I don't know how to remedy that... atleast I think thats my problem... thanks for the ear

okay dude thanks for clearing that up but theres something lse about the guide that confuses me.
after the "5 files copied" step you need to exit usb and run pandoras battery creator rite. well after your done with that and the firmware installer as well you say usb needs to be reconnected and it'll display then message saying msipl.bin has been copied. how many times do i need to press 1 and enter to bring me from the "5 files copied"n screen to the "msipl.bin has been copied" screen? because that bit seemed very confusing to me and youve said press 1 and enter after each step EVEN WHEN THE PSP IS OUT OF USB MODE. lol that was a mistake right?

Yes you can press 1 then enter if the PSP isnt connected, but beware, you may wind up screwing up a step and having to start over.

okay, so once i get "5 files copied" i can immedeatly turn off usb, run the two pandora programs from the psp, then reconnect and press 1 and enter only after reconnecting?

andn another small query if ya dont mind.
whats that stuff about nand dumping and restoring?
in the other guide ive read it says that nand dumping is recommended[just like having a flash backup is recommended when downgrading a psp] what exactly is it any way? and thanks a lot dude!

ps
hey ive laso heard that you cant play umds on an m33 enabled psp. does that mean that i'll have to use isos and the daxz iso loader?

Bobtentpeg
January 11th, 2008, 15:22
1. Yes, wiat for them to be copied, run the rpograms, reconnet, press 1 then ener
2. a NAND dump is recommended. the NAND is the chip in your PSP taht holds the lash files. The NAND dump is a full backup with partition tables and all.

3. Don't know where yo heard that. You can play UMDs and ISOs on M33 straight from the XMB

pandaemon
January 12th, 2008, 02:32
thanks a lot man. although i dont see the pointn of dumping the nand if my psp's a full brick and its flash is screwed up any way lol...

So, I believe I followed the guide to the letter and the battery worked fine for updating my PSP phat from 3.03 OE to 3.71 M33, but whenever I try to run it in my friend's bricked PSP Slim (The Star Wars Darth Vader one) I get the blank screen you mention, and when I hit X the orange LED flashes very briefly and then does nothing.

Needless to say it's still bricked.

Edit1: I tried a newer version of the cemetary thingie and notice that the update gets stuck at formatting flash1

dude, i finally got the chance to borrow a friewnd's hacked psp and use this unboircker to unbrick mine, but before i go ahead i have one VERY important question.
since theres no flash writing involved and i'll only be using MY OWN memory stick and battery for this thing, theoretically there should be NO possible chance of damage to my friend's psp from using this guide right?
i mean, it only writes and modifies the mem stick and battery and not the flash mem or anything, so this thing is COMPLETELY safe right? even the despertar del cementerio part? because the last thing i want is having to pay for my FRIEND'S bricked psp....

also, do the PBP files go DIRECTLY into the mem stick [eg. directly into g drive] or do they go into G:\PSP? because im still a bit confused about that....

Bobtentpeg
March 3rd, 2008, 00:29
No, theres no chance of doing anything at all to their PSP

and it goes on ms0:/ or the rot of the drive
G:/

say, i attempt to install a custom xmb theme on 3.71 m33 or even 3.80 m33, would it woprk the same way as on 3.51 m33?
also if i brick my psp after trying something on 3.71 m33, can i just put the mem stick and battery combo back in and expect it to lbe able to unbrick the psp again?
