I was browsing Amazon UK yesterday while the wife was decorating and come across what i thought was a print error, the TeckNet TYP-107 PSP Li-Polymer 3600mAh Rechargeable Battery for Sony PSP was on sale for a very low priced £2.99.

Now i would think its only for PSP Phats (original PSP) but considering the battery that comes with your system is a measly 1800mAh in power this is a big temptation.

Buy TeckNet TYP-107 PSP Li-Polymer 3600mAh Rechargeable Battery (http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/redirect.html?ie=UTF8&location=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.amazon.co.uk%2FTeckNet-TYP-107-Li-Polymer-3600mAh-Rechargeable%2Fdp%2FB000U7LUZM%3Fie%3DUTF8%26s%3De lectronics%26qid%3D1194171256%26sr%3D8-1&tag=dcemu-21&linkCode=ur2&camp=1634&creative=6738)

Shame the postage and packaging is £6.98 though, otherwise it would have been a real bargain :(

It's because your buying it from Tecknet Online Ltd. not amazon so they make the price low and make the P+P high

Take a look at this http://www.amazon.co.uk/Battery-AC-Charger-all-iPods/dp/B0002AH0SI/ref=sr_1_24/202-6421936-9599002?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1194173919&sr=1-24 seems good eh! Put it in your basket, oh look 4.99 P+P.

It's a shame the P&P is high, I wonder if it would work as a Pandoras battery.

Dont people do this so less money goes towards amazon? Like the % cut they take when you sell through them?

Dont even waste your time or money with this POS. I have one of these battery and a full charge only last 30 minutes. You cant even make it to pandora.

for a reliable hi -capacity battery (2400maH or more) with any kind of guarantee ,
I wouldnt argue over a 20 Euro (p&p incl.) price tag.
Then I'd use the old lo-capacity as a pandora.

This battery can not be pandorafied nor does it even work properly. I do not reccomend this battery, I have had it for almost 1 year now, I payed $10.00 USD. It has weird glitches when inside PSP, it is even more effed up on slim. It also doesn't even last long at all..

I think that the only reliable one is the one made by sony, most of the third party batteries are a POS, you might not get all the extra life they claim to have, but is a little better that the one the psp came with.

Also, you can always turn your old battery into a pandora one LOL

Damn! I just bought this thing. What should I do with it when it arrives? Bury it in the garden? Is it any better than the original PSP battery at all?

I've got one of these. Picked it up in Beirut. It works, but it doesn't last very long, and it doesn't report its charge state properly to the PSP, so you'll crap out with no warning. Oh yes, and is not compatible with Pandora.

so you buy this then you use it and realise you get less life out of the battery than a 1 year old 1800 mah battery. thats what happened to me - bought a sony battery fairly cheap, advert said genuine, it wasnt. it lasted for 50 mins of game playing where my 1 year old original lasted for almost 2 hours. i should add that this was playing a umd - you may get more from an iso, but as we cant discuss this ill stop here.
fakes are bad and dangerous - true you cant expect much at this price but consider that these fakes can explode if left on charge for too long - i wouldnt risk my psp on a 3 quid battery.

I had one of these. When it reachs 10% PSP backlight shut off and freezes. And it gives you 50 minutes or one hour of gameplay. Dont worth all the headache which it can give you.

Sounds like this battery may not be such a deal...
I purchased an Intec 2400mAh battery that came with a secondary charger with a car adaptor. The battery doesn't report it's charge state as accurately as the sony battery, but it does last slightly(only about 10-15 minutes) longer than my original battery. When I say not as accurately, it seems to only report 100%, 83%, 66%, 50%, 33%, and 10%. Rather than single percentage increments on my original sony.

I've been using the Intec for about 4 months now and I have not noticed any degredation in the charge it holds. It converted to pandora and back without any issues. I now use the original 1800mAh sony as my pandora.

On another note, has anyone done a battery mod with those new duracell AAA lithiums? they supposedly have a 1100mAh capacity at 1.2v. so 3 of them would theoretically give you a 3.6v 3300mAh power source...

There is no hope for this one, man.

It appears that this is a sham!

Only had to read as far as 3600mAh to know that this was junk. They can't make such a capacity that small.

I bought one of these from DealExtreme for about 7$ (shipping included).
I like the battery but i dont think its really 3600 mAh.
At least it dont work with its full power then.

So it's not quite the deal of the year

I bought one on ebay and the battery lasts about 5 hours. Definitely worth the 7 dollars I paid for it (that price includes shipping).

I got one of these from Hong Kong - wished I hadn't wasted my money! - the charge is useless at best - tried to watch a UMD film on it - couldn't even make it half way through (on a full charge!) Whereas the original one lasted until the end of the film before dieing on me.

The battery just sits in a corner gathering dust now...

I would recommend getting a genuine $ony one (2200 mAh) - these do actually last longer!

i apologise in advance but thats bullshit. not even genuine batteries last 5 hours, in fact only 1 does - the huge 5000mah external brick of a battery, and that one isnt even specifically for the psp.

Yes, I'm sorry. When I was testing it, it said 5 hours left, and I had it working for about 3, and since it said 40% battery (after 3 hours use) I figured it would last 5 hours. On second test, it lasts only 3 hours.

i doubt you would get 3 hours because the official batteries (the 1800) dont last for that even when doing nothing on the psp. turn the screen off and dont use it and maybe you would get 3 hours. my experience with these cheap ass batteries is they are crap. with something as simple as watching a movie from the memory stick you would be lucky to get 2 hours from a genuine one, so sorry if i dont trust your figures, and theres no way at 7 dollars your getting a genuine battery.
please do tell us how you were testing.
no fake can beat a genuine battery, and yes i do mean the 2400 fakes cant beat an 1800 genuine at the same task - this is simply because the fakes are not what they are rated at (if a fake says its a 2400 its more likely to be a 1200 in reality).
if you think im wrong feel free to step up and prove it because i had one and it was half as good as my 3 year old 1800 original.
