About

The Good Bookr is a Bible reader for the Sony PSP, based on the open source Bookr ebook reader.

Unlike other Bible releases for the PSP, The Good Bookr is a standalone compiled program, not a set of images or web pages. The Good Bookr uses SQLite to store, search, and retrieve Bible texts. It also uses Danzeff OSK for the search interface.

Features

Load a specific book, from Genesis to Revelation.
Search full text or individual books.
Bookmark individual chapters and verses.
Navigate via book and chapter.
Configurable controls.
Select font face and font size.
Customize font and background colors.
Rotate the text to read vertically.

Controls

Most of the controls are configurable. These are the defaults:

Triangle - Open search menu
Square - Previous chapter
Circle - Next chapter
Left Trigger - Previous book
Right Trigger - Next book
Up/Down - Scroll one line
Left/Right - Scroll ten lines
Select - Open bookmarks/options
Start - Open main menu

Thanks

Many thanks for the excellent work which made this possible:

In the "thanks" section I believe you left out the many authors of the bible ;) and God... lol

Wouldnt it be weird to see in church "turn to Timothy 3:6" and a guy gets out his psp?

That would look a bit weird.. but I think that it's better not to use this during church time coz it'll really attract attention and get them the wrong idea..

So, only use this when you're alone.. :)

If you can dig up a SQL version of a Dutch Bible then it would be pretty easy to replace the english version. Same for any language. What other languages are people interested in?

You'd probably have some explaining to do if you pulled this out in church. :D Might be good for small study groups though, you'd always find the verse first!

Ok, it took a while but I've managed to put together a Dutch Bible for you! Bookr doesn't support accented characters (umlauts and such) so I had to change them to their normal unaccented equivalents.

Download: Dutch Bible for The Good Bookr (http://www.pspcoder.net/goodbookr/download/lang/goodbookr-Dutch-Bible.zip)
Just replace the original file.

Just wondering what version is this? would it be possible to build a few different versions into one app (eg. KJV & NIV)

Thanks again

Where abouts can I get the source for 1.1 from? I don't see a link for it anywhere on that page?
(bookr is GPLed)

I've been cleaning up the source code, it should be ready for release soon.

http://www.gnu.org/licenses/gpl-faq.html#DistributeExtendedBinary

You still have to distribute the source for the binaries you have up on your site, or take them down. I've heard this excuse from a few other people as well that do the same thing.

*bitchbitchbitch*

(Technically, sites like QJ.net should pull the links/downloads for the your binaries, since technically it's copyright infringement)

King James Version?

Woah. Nice to read maybe, but not to study.

How much RAM remains when it's running?
Might serve thee well to releaseth thy source sooner, rather than later.

It's great stuff.
But but, you could add a random "verse" function.

And intead of using the search function for finding verses
you could make a drop down menu. A little faster than having to
remember the abbr. of the books...
like:

| Book | | Chapter | | Verse |

It is very, very nice. Thanks a lot!
