Disney has dispatched beta invites for its upcoming free-to-play space shooter Star Wars: Attack Squadrons.
The beta test will run until January 28 and require at least Windows 7 or Mac OS X 10.6 with 4GB RAM, Venture Beat (http://venturebeat.com/2014/01/22/star-wars-attack-squadrons-currently-running-in-a-closed-testing-phase/) reports.

The game will also feature team-based and base defence type modes, as well as various unlockable rewards.
Interested parties can sign up for the beta test (http://www.starwarsattacksquadrons.com/) via the game's website, though it appears to be restricted to North American residents.
The Attack Squadron name was first spotted publicly in July (http://www.computerandvideogames.com/421297/disney-registers-star-wars-attack-squadron-domains/) when parent company Disney registered about four dozen domain names.
Following the agreement of a multi-year deal between EA and Disney (http://www.computerandvideogames.com/404635/ea-secures-exclusive-rights-to-core-star-wars-game-development/) , Battlefield maker DICE, Visceral Games and BioWare are set to develop Star Wars games.
