Mutant Mudds developer Renegade Kid announced (http://www.ign.com/articles/2014/01/24/mutant-mudd-dev-announces-moon-chronicles-for-3ds) that it is developing Moon Chronicles, a 3DS remake of its 2009 Nintendo DS first-person shooter Moon.
Moon Chronicles will be visually upgraded to take advantage of the 3DS's wider top screen, and will run at 60 frames per second in both 2D and 3D modes.Chronicles will also include Circle Pad Pro support, allowing for traditional twin-stick control options.
The game will be released episodically via Nintendo's eShop this spring, with the first four-hour episode priced at $8.99. Three additional DLC chapters, each offering about 2 additional hours of gameplay, will be available at launch for $1.99 apiece. If Moon Chronicles proves successful, Renegade hopes to release an all-new second season of content next year that takes place after Moon's storyline.
Moon Chronicles joins Renegade Kid's growing stable of projects, which include the side-scrolling platformer Treasurenauts (http://www.joystiq.com/game/treasurenauts) and the survival horror game Cult County. A Mutant Mudds sequel is also in the works, though development is currently on hold (http://www.joystiq.com/2013/12/03/mutant-mudds-deluxe-hitting-psn-december-17-sequel-on-hold/) pending the completion of Treasurenauts.
