I've just finished compiling a shortlist of what I think are the 10 best submissions for the icon competition.

I received just under 200 entries in total; I've been blown away by the response. Picking just 10 entries has been very difficult. In the end I had a 'longlist' of around 30 entries which I thought were superb, and it's taken me over an hour to whittle that down to just 10 entries.

Here is my shortlist, presented in the order they were submitted. Feel free to discuss these in the comments - I'll be reading your comments over the weekend, and I'll pick a final winner on Monday.

Oh well, StrmnNrmn did send me a nice reply and said it was pretty inventive. :)

Here was mine. I tried to go for more of an abstract look while keeping the colours based off the N64 logo.

I just wanted to keep it simple.

Anyway, I could have come out with something that grabs you by the neck considering I've been doing Photoshop in college for the last three years but I didn't want to go that route.

Oh well, the final 10 look awesome. :)

Please people if you entered keep posting your entries, only more choices makes it better for the community. I didn't quite love the top 10, just no what I was looking for but I'd like to see more from anyone.

I thought you werent allowed to use copyrighted characters?

The Victor Aguirre one has mario on it.

EDIT: and to phosphorous, i think the reason yours wasnt chosen as it uses a logo very similar to the original, in which copyright laws will come in again.

It's between Jay Mc and Hykypoo except Hykypoo's mini icon has R14 which would have to be changed every new update so I'm leaning towards Jay Mc, either way there all great even the ones that did'nt make top 10.

you are right Ahmann's is really original and creative. Its pretty dumb that he said no copyrighted stuff and victor used mario....

Icons made by Dcemu member Giga Phil and got the background from NeonGenesis, I like how it looks so I would rather use their stuff then the ones that might be included with the new D64
