I know the PSP has some great FPS titles already, however, I really enjoyed Strife and Blood when they first came out. I still play them some on PC but would love a portable version to carry around :p. Links to some source code and other information below:

Games

Strife - Strife Wiki (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Strife_%28computer_game%29) | Vavoom Source (http://vavoom-engine.com/download.php) | SwStrife Source & Thread (http://www.doomworld.com/vb/showthread.php?s=&threadid=33687)
This is a FPS with RPG elements actually based off of the Doom engine but it had several improvements to the engine itself. It wasnt a very well known title due to coming out around the time of the original Quake and was vastly outdated by then, but was an excellent game.
The original source code to the game was lost by Rogue Entertainment, however the game was reverse engineered by Janis Legzdinsh, responsible for making the Vavoom game engine. His work was later incorporated into the source port program ZDoom- two source ports of Strife were made one using ZDoom, another called SwStrife by Kaiser(the same Kaiser on these boards? I dont know myself) based on guesswork and another was made using the Vavoom engine which supports the Doom engine games: Doom, Doom II, Heretic, Hexen, and Strife in Direct3d\OpenGL.

Another excellent but gory FPS, Blood was initially distributed as a shareware demo version which contained the complete Episode One. Blood is powered by a modified version of the Build engine created by Ken Silverman for 3D Realms. Duke Nukem 3D is the most well-known build engine game.
Blood was ported to the Quake engine under a project called Transfusion. Formerly known as qBlood, the project was renamed to avoid possible copyright issues with the Blood trademark owned by Infogrames/Atari. Transfusion is currently still under development, with more recent releases using the DarkPlaces engine.
Blood has also been ported into the ZDoom engine. The project, ZBLOOD, does not contain any of the secret levels, and only boss is Cheogh. Zblood has been considered as a "watered down" version of Blood, due to its easy difficulty. All of the Blood weapons are present in Zblood, with an exception to the Napalm Launcher, and the Voodoo Doll.

ZDoom - ZDoom and info on other source ports Wiki (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ZDoom) | ZDoom Source (http://www.zdoom.org/Download)
ZDoom is a port of the official Doom source code targeted at Microsoft Windows and Linux. It is one of the most advanced and popular Doom ports, supporting Boom editing extensions, plus all the extensions made by the HeXen engine, as well as adding a multitude of new features not found in the original Doom. In addition, it supports Heretic, Hexen, Blood(with conversion) and Strife.

P.S.: While I realize not all of this information is directly related to porting these to PSP I thought they maybe useful in the endeavor.
*_Part of this info was taken from the Wiki!_*

I would really love to see either of these two games on our psp or you could take it a step further and try to port Vavoom or zdoom which supports several of these FPS games most of which we have seperate atm.
I wanted to throw these out there so others may enjoy them and based on what we have currently they shouldnt be too far a stretch. Btw, if you want to check out either of these games(Blood or Strife) in thier original form- they play in the PC version of DosBox.

!_As I have more information that I think is relevant or if you have a link not listed that you think is relevant please post it here and Ill update this original post, thanks._!

shit sorry, I meant to mention, it's for DosBox PSP

While it does run on PSP Dosbox its far from playable currently\is worse than a slideshow. Once its optimized(PSP DosBox that is) it might play well along with some other titles but I wasnt banking on it being supported anytime in the near future, which is why I suggested a port similar the other good FPS titles we have. Strife doesnt seem to like frameskip at all in PSP DosBox which adds to this fact. Hell, it even has .wad files(strife1.wad and voices.wad) but of course Doom\PSP Doom wont run it without the modified version of the engine that ran the game originally. I tried a few things myself including pspdosbox but I havent had any luck with it- another reason I suggested it.

Almost the same for Blood it will start but doesnt get past loading some of the game files and we dont know if and when they maybe supported if at all.
Thanks for the thought however :D

Has anyone heard any news about a strife port?

Maybe someone would be interested in a zdoom engine port?

(Yay for reviving old threads!)

No news that I have heard about. I would love to see both blood and strife ported to PSP. When I made this original post I was hoping someone would remember and have the drive\desire to port them. I still keep an eye on this thread so if anyone has any info that they think maybe useful Id be happy to add it here so it will be in one place in case someone does decide to take it on.

PSPdosbox runs strife and does quite well with the sound and opening credits\storyline but anything past that even the main menu goes extremely slow. Still fun to watch on the psp screen.

Oh, sorry...I just requested Zdoom. I didn't think it would be well known and everyone would just ask for Counter Strike.

That offset in Heretic is distracting...full resolution is nice(plus non-upscaled weapons, original pixel sized), but the FOV is offset. I'd rather filtered 320x200.

I raise my hand for that Blood port.

It wasn't a really popular game, overshadowed by other games. So, that could be why many doesn't know, how stylish, action-packed and scary this game is.

Wasn't Transfusion not even a "full" port?

"Monolith has stated many times they would love to get it back... but Atari won't even talk to em about it."

The Strife ports were created from reverse engineering...so if you port one of them, it's likely to not run as well as it should.

But Skulltag is possible.
